This was a good entry to our first ever stay on Shelter Island.

The host Kirsten was so easy to communicate with and she made my first VRBO rental experience fantastic. I spent my summers on Shelter Island as a kid and staying at her cottage brought back some great childhood memories. Already planning a trip with my adult children for next summer.

Perfect Location
It is a great central location on the island. Minutes from both ferries and the all-important IGA. Second time to stay at this property and we love it.

A lovely home base to enjoy the island.
From the moment we arrived we felt right at home. The central location allowed us to get around without a car. There are beaches, restaurants, and Farm stands, and Sylvester manor are all short bikes away.
Kristen was a wonderful host, providing everything we needed for an extended working vacation. The WiFi accommodated three people online, the space layout provided both privacy and areas to relax together, and the outdoor shower was such a treat.
All in all we loved our time at this home and are looking forward to returning.

Great Location
The house is located just off of 114, the main road from north to south across the island and which takes you to the north and south ferries. It is also just a few minutes from the Mashomack Preserve, which is a great place for walking/hiking. We definitely would stay at this house again.

Lovely stay on beautiful, relaxing Shelter Island
This past summer, we stayed on Shelter Island for a month and were incredibly excited for a return over a long weekend. Kirsten's cottage was just perfect. It was cute, comfortable, and well stocked for our family. With restaurants right nearby (we heartily recommend lobster takeout from Commander Cody's, less than a half mile away), and just about everything on the island a short drive away, we had everything we needed. We hope to return sometime soon.

Ideal Shelter Island Cottage
Just spent a great week at Kirsten’s Cottage and it was the ideal base for a relaxing week on Shelter Island.
The cottage was exactly as described. A beachy, cozy cottage - compact, but with plenty of space for four adults. The futon was comfortable, as were the two bedrooms. Each room is decorated with furniture that adds to the cottage’s welcoming atmosphere. The bonus beach towels, umbrella, and chairs were a thoughtful touch. And, a trip to the beach, ice cream shop, or local restaurant, was barely 5 minutes away.
Check in and out was a breeze. Off street parking was convenient.
We really enjoyed our time at the cottage!

Fantastic Island Getaway
Shelter Island was an important place to me growing up, and being able to stay on the island in a place like this took me right back. Absolutely fantastic property and fantastic communication from the property owners. Seamless check in and immediate answers to any questions or concerns. Will definitely stay again!

Lovely cottage in the middle of the island
We had a perfect stay. Just the two of us, so we had lots of room to spread out in this tidy small cottage in the middle of Shelter Island. The owner was a pleasure to correspond with. The house is well appointed and comfortable. Kayak & bike rental, and the island's supermarket are nearby, as is nearly anything else you'd need to make a stay on Shelter Island perfect.

Also a lovely house for the off-season
My husband, young son and I spent a wonderful long weekend in this comfortable cottage after Thanksgiving. Cozy, clean and inviting, this cottage was the perfect home base from which to enjoy a more quiet time on the island. The owner was a pleasure to work with - a very easy process.

Lovely Little Cottage!
We travelled from California for a family member's wedding and had the pleasure of renting this sweet little cottage. It is centrally located on the island and was very easy to navigate. We had a rental car, but it's right around the corner from the Town Hall and several eating places were within walking distance. With 2 good-sized bedrooms, we had plenty of room for my husband and I, along with our 3 kids. The outdoor shower is heavenly, especially after days spent at the beach. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed and the large yard was fun for the kids. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and very prompt in responding to any questions we had. Would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful, Relaxing Vacation Spot
I stayed here for a few nights with my husband and two young children. It's a lovely, peaceful retreat...great for a getaway from the city. The home is sweet and very well maintained. The landlord was very helpful and easy to work with. I would stay here again and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone else.

Great cozy cottage
The house was exactly as described. Centrally located and convenient to all the events for the wedding we were attending. The back deck was great to hang out on during what may have been the last true summer weekend.

Shelter Island cottage
Stayed at the property for 1 week in July with my husband and two teenage boys. The cottage was neat and clean. There is a fully equipped gourmet kitchen where we prepared many meals. In addition there is a deck with an outdoor shower that was very pleasant. Beaches are minutes away by car. The owner was happy to answer any questions we had.

Perfect Summer Cottage
My husband and I and our 1 year old daughter loved our stay at this great Shelter Island bungalow. Very comfortable and well appointed, it has a great mix on new (appliances/deck/other) and old (decor/antiques). The comfortable/open space for cooking eating and hanging out and 2 bedrooms with comfy beds was perfect for our family and had a great beachy vibe. Well stocked with the necessities like towels, beach stuff and paper goods and very clean. The outdoor shower, grill and great deck were definite pluses as was the DVD and game selection. Really great central location as we walked to get coffee and breakfast at Schmidt's each morning and there are a few restaurants like 18 Bay also within walking distance, but at the same time the street itself is very quiet. All other parts of the island easily accessible by car. If you have young kids its especially great because there is also a playground and library within walking distance. Kristin was great to deal with as she was very professional, prompt and responsive in all our dealings. Great place for a great price, will definitely be back!

Centrally located to explore teh entire island
This was our first trip to Shelter Island, and this cottage was in the perfect location to explore every corner of the island. Whether we drove, walked, jogged or biked, we were in easy reach of everything we planned to do- the beach, the farmers market, morning yoga classes, nature trails, restaurants, grocery store, plein aire painting trips to capture the gorgeous scenery throughout the island.
Our only surprise was that many places we hoped to visit (Sunset Beach hotel, Pridwin hotel) close down after Labor Day, but there are plenty of other places to drink and dine.
The house has a modern kitchen with modern high end (if somewhat complicated) appliances, and was a spacious enough to prepare all our dinners and then to dine outside on the large wood deck,. The outdoor shower was a special treat even on the crisp fall mornings we had during our stay. The beds were comfy too!
The owners are great in answering any questions we had and made sure everything worked out during our stay.

Great week in Shelter Island
We have been coming to Shelter Island for 12 years, but this was the first time we rented a house. It was the best trip ever. We love to bike and the house was in the center so we could bike everywhere. Also the Saturday farmers market is a stone's throw. The house was perfect. Had everything we needed, loved the deck and outdoor shower. It was very clean and had an awesome kitchen and outdoor grill. The owners of the house could not have been nicer or more helpful. We will be returning.
