Beautiful spot on the Mesa
My husband and I along with our dog stayed at this beautiful property for 3 months. We loved being right next to the Douglas Preserve where we walked several times a day. We saw dolphin and whales quite often from the patio overlooking the ocean. The house was well equipped with everything we needed and Tamra was very responsive whenever an issue came up. I would recommend this property to anyone who loves the ocean and did I mention the gorgeous gardens surrounding the property too!

Delightful spot
As if the sound and sight of the Pacific Ocean weren't enough, the house is lovely and beautifully stocked. We loved the area too and had a terrific vacation.

Fantastic house
We really enjoyed our three day stay that we booked through iTravex/VRBO. Especially liked the morning walks through the adjacent park. Also, a must stop for breakfast is the Boathouse beachside restaurant.

Wonderful Retreat
This was, for us, the perfect combination of location and property! The view can't be beaten, the home is comfortable, and the proximity to beach, harbor, and Douglas Preserve is major icing on the cake. While it would work for anyone who doesn't need a larger place, it's truly special for anyone who enjoys walking and/or has dogs who would love romping with other dogs in the nearby preserve. If you're also fortunate enough to visit during the late Fall to early Spring months, you may be treated to the unsurpassed view of whales breaching in the channel!

California Dream...
This house was simply amazing! One step inside the front door and you are greeted by one of the best ocean views you will find on the west coast. Right outside the front door you have a great 2km running/walking trail that follows the shoreline and has great views throughout. It is also an off-leash dog park with lots of friendly dogs. We ate every meal outside on the patio and enjoyed stunning sunsets. The house itself was clean and just as described in the listing. The landlord was friendly and more than willing to help with anything we inquired about. You will not regret staying here!

Best vacation ever!
My husband and I spent a week at the house with our dog Charlie. I cannot begin to describe how wonderful this house and the surrounding area are! The house itself is absolutely beautiful and exactly as advertised. The bed in the master was especially comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked with very nice appliances. The view is incredible and the outdoor space lovely. We ate every meal outside overlooking the ocean. It is the perfect location, close to downtown Santa Barbara, close to great grocery shops, directly adjacent to an off-leach dog preserve and a short jaunt to a gorgeous off-leash dog beach. Tamara was wonderful throughout the process! We are absolutely planning on staying again next summer.

Incredible views
My wife and I along with our dog, spent 9 glorious days at the house and it was amazing. The views cannot be beaten anywhere I believe. The outside deck complete with lounge chairs, round patio table and a hi top table, were perfect to have breakfast, lunch and dinners on. The bbq was good and the lush backyard was a real oasis. Located just steps from an off leash dog preserve and near the dog beaches, it was the perfect location for our dog and us. The Mesa area has many fine grocery shops, eating places and so many other things, you really don't have to leave the area. Located near Santa Barbara it's an easy 5 minute drive. Sunset park is just minutes away, as well as two other cliff side parks which were great for walking. The house itself was very nice, the kitchen was fully stocked, the master bedroom very comfortable and the upstairs loft served as a perfect office, and the view from the loft picture window is great. Washer and drier worked perfectly. Bathrooms a little small but fine. Wireless internet work fine and all other items functioned well. I must also add, that Tamara could not have been nicer nor more responsive from beginning the process to check out. A real plus. We would stay again.

Spectacular oceanfront views
This was our first vrbo with our rescue Golden Retriever. The house is very dog friendly. The yard was large enough for her to roam but contained so we didn't worry about her. The dog park next door to the house was lovely however we found that we all enjoyed the dog friendly beach which is steps away from the house more
It was a real luxury to have kitchen supplies provided. Coffee filters for example made the first day easier as did olive oil, and spices. Beach towels were available and plentiful. Toiletry items were also provided.
We walked to Mesa for groceries, meals and errands. Very convenient. We also had dinner on State St in downtown Santa Barbara which is close and quick to get to. Our favorite new spot is The Boathouse on Hendrys Beach; Lovely cozy little restaurant that sits directly on the beach and serves delicious food.
The home has a gorgeous hot tub that was easy to use. There was also an outside grill that too was easy to manage.
The home is comfortable and feels good when you are there. We will absolutely be returning. Our dog discovered she loved the beach!

Fabulous Sunsets!
My husband and I and our two dogs spent a wonderful time here over Christmas. The house overlooks the Pacific and we spent our afternoons on the patio listening to the surf and watching the sunsets. The house itself is well equipped and very comfortable. It is right next to a 70 acre off-leash dog park so not only did we have a terrific time but our dogs did, too. We would highly recommend it and plan to return ourselves.

Stunning Views, Excellent Quality - Our Favorite!
We had a wonderful stay. The location is exceptional. Not a far drive from town but at the end of a quiet street with quick access to the dog friendly preserve and two entrances to the dog beach. Household goods were excellent quality - the kitchen had all we needed and more. Surplus of quality towels and bedding. Amazing views. Would love to make this a regular vacation!

Fabulous!
We were privileged to share this wonderful home with our son and son-in-law for the middle of March. It was everything I expected from the pictures, and so much more. To go to sleep with the sound of the surf, and to wake up and the sound is still there is just magical. The sunsets over the ocean every day were spectacular. Our daughter, her friend from Saudi Arabia, and our grand dog, were also able to spend time with us. Having the preserve right next door was awesome. The furnishings in your home are quiet and comfortable, and the neighborhood is the same. I truly did not want to leave. I have never felt that way about a vacation before, and when I got back home I looked for real estate, but sadly it is not affordable for us. Thank you so much for offering this beautiful escape. It created memories to last a life time.

Perfect for My Dog and Me
I am a single senior woman with a dog, and I booked this home for two weeks over Christmas and New Years, 2013. It was perfect! I was able to entertain local friends, all of whom were impressed with the home and its garden and views. But it didn't feel too big when I was there alone with my dog. In fact, its serenity was wonderful, in spite of the fact that the preserve next door is a busy place, with people coming and going all day long.
I arrived after dark (5pm check in), and settled in easily, waking the next morning to a stunning garden of statice, bougainvilla, sage and birds of paradise. Within minutes my dog and I were out on the preserve, where we explored (off-leash!) for a couple of hours at least! That became a daily ritual. The neighborhood is cute, with modest homes next to more upscale ones, and feels safe. As a jogger, I loved the miles of flat, paved roads, right out the front door. A few blocks away are the Mesa Lane Steps (242 if I counted correctly), which lead to an off-leash beach, and you can walk or jog to your heart's content, all the way to the SB Yacht Club if you like.
The photos don't include the bedrooms, but the owner quickly supplied them at my request. I was happy in the master bedroom, in spite of the odd closet arrangement, up a flight of 7 stairs. The hot tub was convenient and easy to manage on my own. The other bedroom and loft beds were comfortable. Flat screen TVs in both bedrooms and living room! I found Turner Classic Movies on demand with Cox Cable, and curled up on the couch most evenings.
The views and grounds are the strong suit for this home, and are not to be underestimated! Instead of ringing in the new year tired and stressed from a busy holiday season, I returned home to the Bay Area rejuvenated and ready for 2014.

Fabulous home and location
Recently returned from a week at this property. We, 4 seniors, found everything we needed, and as described. Home is comfortable, clean and well-equipped. We had a whole week of perfect Santa Barbara weather and so spent much of our time on the patio area, furnished for enjoyment, outstanding views of ocean and islands, and surrounded by a gorgeous garden. We enjoyed the peaceful walk in the nearby Douglas Preserve. Dog-friendly and off-leash. The five minute drive to a perfect beach was a daily treat. Again, a perfect off-leash area for the dogs. Such joy in watching the variety of pets enjoying the water and the fun. The town of Santa Barbara was nearby, easy to get to and filled with so many attractions and dining varieties.
Tamara was wonderfully easy to work with and made our stay all that we had hoped. We highly recommend this property, and hope to return.

Quiet oasis adjacent to 70 acre dog friendy park, sounds and views of the sea, my idea of perfection

Santa Barbara is a special place to me for a few reasons,
No. 1 Dog walking on the beach. This beautiful home with an inviting open floor plan and floor to ceiling sliding doors that bring the outside in happens to be a 5 min walk to the "Mesa Lane Steps". Here you can walk down 230 steps and proceed to walk miles of nearly empty beautiful sandy beach with your dogs off leash. Amazing, blissful and just plain fun. In addition you have the privilege of being literally steps from the Douglas Family Preserve where you can roam freely among the tall Eucalyptus trees and other amazing native shrubs and plants socializing with friendly dogs and their "owners."
No.2 Fresh organic produce, again this home scores with the local organic grocery "Lazy Acres" and the wonderful "Mesa Produce" being less than a 5 min. drive or 10 min walk away. Of course there are also many amazing Farmers Markets which are an experience in and of themselves which redefine the meaning of abundance!
No.3 The climate, the air, the sea....the temperature in SB always seems to be perfect somewhere around 70-75 degrees and the ocean a constant soothing presence. This home invites deep contemplation by perching itself in an exquisite location where one can literally stare out at the sea and watch the waves roll in....along with pelicans, dolphins and sea lions. Sound ideal....well thats not all because in addition you have the distinct pleasure of dealing with truly wonderful owners whose energy imbues this home with a very cozy loving feeling. It is a very comfortable home, easy to maintain and has all the amenities one needs, including very comfortable beds and lounge chairs. All of my dealings with the property manager (who is part of the family) have been nothing but lovely and she has responded promptly to any and all questions and concerns with a high level of professionalism and kindness. To be honest we are already looking at dates for 2014 and will definitely be back, I truly cannot imagine a better place in all of Santa Barbara!

Hard to imagine a better experience
We stayed with our four kids in this beautiful, well-equipped house at the end of July. As advertised, it has an unbeatable clifftop view of the ocean and coastline: Dolphins playing, seals barking, pelicans cruising by; it was wonderful. People paraglide off the cliff at the neighboring nature preserve and they often drift by the house, too.
The location requires a car, but it is only a short drive from downtown and the beach (which is also accessible via a public stairway a few hundred yards away). Grocery store and restaurants are less than 5 minutes away.
The description and all the photos here are accurate -- which is saying a bunch. The kitchen is nice and modern and has all pots/pans and many staples supplied. Nice washer/dryer. Nicely kept yard, especially in front; hummingbirds hovered by the windows in the mornings. Because the ground falls away quickly at the edge of the patio, this might not be a great place for very little kids. Our youngest is 7, however, and we felt fine. The beds in the loft are open to the great room below, so they must be assigned to those who'll go to bed last.
We had great communication both before and during our stay. The only glitch was that, when we arrived, the cleaners hadn't quite finished after the previous guests left -- but really, it was a very minor thing. We recommend this property without hesitation, and we hope to return ourselves someday.

Family vacation with kids better than ever!
We just spent a week at this amazing place! Views forever, wonderful neighborhood next to a preserve, sounds of the ocean....couldn't be better! House was like being home, everything we needed right there. My husband grew up in Santa Barbara and is very familiar with it and he was even impressed with the views. The owner was extremely easy to work with and went out of her way to make sure everything was just so. We will definitely come back and stay here again! We had a small dog who loved the preserve next door and close proximity to Hendry's beach where dogs are free to go off leash. Really fun for dogs if they are friendly and social!
