Perfect location for us as right opposite the train station that we used to travel by and not far to walk into town. Staff were helpful and friendly apart from one person who was verging on rude. The room was huge with a lovely big comfortable bed and a good size shower in the bathroom. The breakfasts were very good, a fairly limited choice but what we had was very nice, well presented and tasty.
I was surprised that the toilet seat was too small so you have to sit partly on the cold porcelain part 😟. I didn’t realise it was run by the YMCA when I booked which didn’t bother me other than it seems a bit pricy for what you get. I think the railing for hanging clothes could have been a bit better, the mismatch of coat hangers looked like they’d been bought from a charity shop. For a few extra pounds they could have bought some nicer matching hangers, I didn’t mind the rail itself. The building is in need of refurbishment but I have to say we enjoyed our stay in this quirky hotel.

Excellent breakfast, with such good choices. Great service, food was hot and on hot plates:-) Great choice of cereal, fruit juice, tea, coffee, pastries and fruit.
We had family join us on Sunday for breakfast and the team at the hotel were amazing and everything was loved by them too. Thanks to all the team and chef:-)
Nothing, all was great, thank you so much.

The staff were very adaptable to my disability needs and our room, on the ground
floor was ideal. Breakfast was very good.
My only criticism would be regarding the room, apart from some pegs,
there was nothing to hang anything up on nor any rack/unit to put a suitcase on so you could
access it easily.
4.2
Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious
4.2
The staff are some of
the most helpful we have encountered. The place is spotlessly clean.
4.2
A great building, decent rooms nicely furnished, good en-suites we chose it for convenience.
Too warm for us and the floodlit station forecourt lit the room too much in the night, could do with blackout curtains.
4.2
Location was brilliant, we were going to a show at the Brewhouse and we only had a 10 minute walk with bars and restaurants en route. Staff were very friendly and professional, and breakfast was excellent.

Great location
Really friendly staff
Nice touches in the room
Great shower in bathroom
Clean & warm
Maybe a bigger bed it was a small double so my 6’2’’ husband was not that comfortable
4.2
Location was perfect as I was forced to break my rail journey due to flooded rail lines and I needed to re-commence my train journey the following morning.
No food available on the premises after 5pm and I didn’t check in until 6pm after a long and arduous journey up that point
4.2
the staff were so helpful and the room was clean and comfortable
It wasn’t the nicest walk into town

Closeness to railway station. Appearance is good . Staff friendly and helpful.
Hotel needs to be refurbished. Some rooms need reconfigured.

Lovely room and a really nice and helpful young lad had excellent customer service was really grateful for all of his help while I was staying there he was on reception when I arrived at about 6 o’clock in the evening ont the 29/08/2023
The bathroom flooded while I was in the shower and the restaurant was closed

Quite a good, stylish renovation with unusual decor. Didn’t realise the connection with YMCA but very pleased that we were able to help in some way by staying there - an excellent idea. The young staff were all very pleasant and very keen to help so well done all.
Cooked breakfast was a bit pre-cooked but they explained that they’d never been that busy at any one time before … due to concert the previous night.

A very nice hotel in a great location, perfect for those traveling by train and easily accessible by road, communication with the hotel before arrival was good, and checking in was excellent, with a helpful and knowledgeable receptionist, all the staff were helpful and efficient, The room was nicely decorated with good facilities, and a very comfy bed,

Next to the train station. Breakfast was good.
Cold coffee.
Having to look for reception.
There is no mini fridge in the room.
4.2
First & foremost the staff were very welcoming & cheerful. The breakfast was excellent. WiFi was good (apart from the incident mentioned below).
The stay was marred by a power outage for several hours (until 9pm) on the 6th April. Which prevented use of toilet, shower & internet in addition to electrical items. Fortunately I had just enough charge left on my phone to enable me to descend the stairs which were in total darkness. Maybe the installation of emergency lighting on the stairs might be an idea? The other concern was security. Anyone could enter the property & up the stairs without being seen by staff, as the reception was in a sideroom, away from the entrance.
ps My comments are not intended to be negative but are suggestions which will hopefully be helpful.

Very large room in an excellent historic hotel with great atmosphere. Well-appointed and nicely decorated, and a large en suite bathroom.

The location was perfect for our purpose.
The bar is poorly stocked and had to wait till staff from reception came to open it and serve us then locked up to go back to reception, also no butter with toast in morning, I hate margarine so not happy.
