Great, clean spot for a short stay. Right down the street from the cute, local restaurant and gas stations. Just minutes away from the Sleeping Bear Dune climb/ lookout.

Excellent!

Took the family, 2 adults and 4 kids to this area for a few days away. The house was clean and orderly. Everything that was described on the vrbo website was accurate and available.
Our favorite part of the stay was the short walk to Empire beach. We spent almost every night there swimming in Lake Michigan and playing on the play ground. You do have to get there early to claim a fire pit FYI.
Another side note, make sure to bring groceries or stop on the way. There is a BP with a mini mart on the corner about 3 blocks away but you won’t get everything you need there. We hit up a Toms on the way. There is a market about 13 min north in Glen Arbor as well.
Overall this was a great experience! Close to river tubing, dune climbing, trail hiking, and beaches. We will be back!

We had a lot of fun! Cute little house near all the things we wanted to do!! Thought the beach was closer than it was. But still ended up being super close and was perfect!

Out of three bed rooms, two beds need to be changed. They are bad and need to be replaced.
Otherwise, location is great and host is good.

Our family had a wonderful stay at The Salisbury House! It was clean, had everything we needed and was exactly as advertised. This has not always been the case with some of our prior rentals, so we very much appreciated it this time. I would highly recommend the property to everyone looking to stay in the area and would not hesitate to stay again.

Great home for our family of 4 for a few days in the fall. We felt so comfortable we didn't want to leave!

Six of us adults stayed at this place in Empire, and here are our thoughts--
Pros- The location was great, walking distance to Lake Michigan and a short drive to the sleeping bear dunes. The neighborhood was quiet and safe. The host was quick to respond and answer all questions
Cons - there is a fee for background check/insurance the property tacks on that is non negotiable. You have to sign a rental agreement and the communication from there is outside the app via email prior to check-in. This information isn't shared with you until after booking (unless I missed it somewhere) so I figured I would inform future guests
Additionally, the cleaning fee is higher than most, yet you're asked to do everything except sweep and mop (but if you do use the vacuum, there are rules for that as well),&there's a additional fee if any dishes are left. I am totally fine with starting the dishwasher before leaving a place and taking linens off beds, but you're asked to wash and dry all dishes and put them away to avoid a fee, wash and dry at least one load of laundry, bring all the towels and linens to the laundry room, take out the trash and bring the bin to the end of the driveway. Just seems a little excessive especially since we're already paying for a cleaner.
Lastly, the beds were not the most comfortable, pretty squeaky main bed. They were fine for a night or two
Overall it was a nice place to stay, just a lot of extra cleaning on the guests end for something we already paid for

Location was great, close to the visitors center and the Grocers Daughter. The house was perfect for our group of 6 having 3 bedrooms. Kitchen was very nice. We had problems figuring out the lighting over the dining table. Nice deck but no shade. It would be nice to let people know there were pickleball courts as some of us are avid players.

The house was perfect for my family of six. It was clean, cozy, comfortable, and a central location to visit multiple beaches, towns, and hikes. We enjoyed kayaking and splurged at Blu (Glen Arbor), as we spent our 25th wedding that week. We all enjoyed our vacation.
4.9
Centralized location and walking distance to local shops and the beach. The house was beautiful, clean and came with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Spacious back deck and yard for our kids to play. There is also a park right across the street. Plenty of space for our family of 5. We will be returning!
Also, the management of the house was friendly, easy to reach and great to work with!

The house is comfortable and well appointed. We stay at VRBOs because we like to be able to hang out mornings and prepare most of our own meals. The kitchen was even stocked with everything I needed to cook Thanksgiving dinner. Empire, MI is a great location for hiking and this house is a great location in the town - a few minutes' walk to Lake Michigan.

We enjoyed the family friendly layout of this home with it's open concept Great Room and kitchen/dining area. The kitchen island as well as the table provided nice spaces for evening games and puzzles. The kitchen was plentifully furnished for cooking and dining.
The main suite was at the back of the home, nicely separated from the 2 additional bedrooms.

Having the attached garage was a great bonus to a great house. Would love the rent this house again next year.

The location was great, just as advertised. A minor issue early in the week was handled quickly and with courtesy. We would definitely rent again.

Walked in to a well planned living room area with open kitchen and dining. Had a lot of rain but also had a lovely fireplace and perfect dining area. This property is so centrally located, it’s amazing. We went all the way up to Northpoint and down to Frankenmuth. Coming back in the evening to the cleanest residence we have ever stayed at was so nice. Our hostess was quick to respond when I lost the key and we were in the house in minutes.
So, to sum up, I’d say cleanliness, location and price will be the major factors that will bring me back again. Thank you for such a clean and convenient house!!

We had a very relaxing stay. Everything was perfect. Wonderful experience. We would recommend this to everyone.

This house is larger than it appears in the photos - PERFECT for 6 adults! We walked all over town and to the beach, and drove off to so many charming, nearby towns ans sights, always able to return to this comfortable “home away from home.”

We love this Empire haven. Perfect relaxing vacation spot. Very comfortable
Close to Empire beach and Pierce Stocking Scenic Overlook of Lake Michigan and Sand dunes

We loved this house. It was open and close to a small park for our young kids to play. We walked to Empire Beach, it was perfect and so conveniently located by Sleeping Bear Dunes sites. Definitely would like to stay again and highly recommend!

Beach Vacation!
The house was as depicted in the listing. Very clean and decor was kid friendly. Beds were comfy and the kitchen was well equipped. Perfect location with a park across the street which made it easy to entertain the kids. The beach was just a short walk away. I will definitely rent again.

Great Location
Great location for the family. Park right next to the house and only a short walk to the beach. For families the shore is rocky so water shoes for the kids is ideal and the property did not have kid friendly dishware, no plastic cups or plates, so be prepared for that if you have little ones.

Clean and comfortable
We enjoyed our stay at this location! It was clean, comfortable and conveniently located close to Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City.

Attractive little house, perfectly met our needs, in a quaint little town.
Couple of minor comments.
1. The switch in the shower, to switch from faucet to shower, was not obvious how to work. We struggled for a while before figuring it out.
2. Cable TV. Could not figure out how to access local network channels (CBS, ABC, NBC) for network programming. (We missed our favorite program! 😕
Neither of these little things spoiled our good time though!

Beautiful house and location. Played pickle ball in the park across the street, walked around town everyday enjoying our ice cream cone from the Shipwreck cafe; played tennis at the park on LaCore; walked to the beach & watched the sunsets.

Very nice family visit. House was great, but May was too early to go, our bad! We had a family reunion on May 1st which was the only good time for everyone. It was very cold and rainy and many restaurants and shops were closed. We usually go in late June or July.

Better than expected
We chose this place for the value and location. We needed a place to stay for a destination family wedding. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the home was inside. Great place to stay and enjoy Empire.

The house was more spacious than it looked from the pictures. It’s a great house - comfy couches and beds, and enough indoor and outdoor space for all of us. We loved our stay here!
