My husband and I decided to take an end of the summer family vacation that included our adult children, two grandchildren, my brother and a couple of friends. Our intention was to take a beach vacation at the ocean, but that did not work for various reasons. I am so glad that I searched "lake houses in Maine". We could not have found a better place to spend the week!! The house was spacious, clean and well-stocked both inside and out. We spent each night chatting around the firepit (wood and S'more supplies were included!!) We decided to rent a pontoon boat to explore the pond, and we had a wonderful time. I suggest taking a sunset cruise, the photos we captured were stunning. It was truly a relaxing way to end the summer!!

This vacation was just what we were looking for.. A nice house on a quiet pond to relax with the family. The water was warm, clean, and the kiddos had a great time swimming & kayaking. We had an internet issue that Josh quickly addressed. An enthusiastic dirt bike rider & dump truck noise near the house was unfortunate.. but, we made the best of it and had a good week!
Perfect weather as well..TY

It was a quiet and beautiful place. It was not too far from Bar Harbor/Acadia National park. Family did a lot of kayaking (which came with the rental), fishing and swimming, The rental was very spacious. We had a great and relaxing stay.

We have booked this house many years in a row. We've stayed at another home Josh owns and it was just as great!

The cabin was very spacious and nicely decorated. The bedding was very comfortable and seemed like new. The couches were very comfortable and arranged to get nice views of the lake. The kitchen had a nice selection of clean pots and pans and dishes. The grill was clean and had plenty of propane to use. The canoe and kayaks were fun to use and the life jackets were ready available and plenty of them. The fire pit had plenty of firewood provided and the s’mores material provided by the property were a welcomed and enjoyable surprise. We would definitely recommend this property and would stay here again as a first choice for the area.

My husband and I stayed for the long weekend with our two dogs. Had such a nice time, weather was great. Lake house is very roomy with the perfect lake decor all around. Husband had a great time fishing off the dock and using the kayak. Really appreciated the clean lawn and not too many bugs around. Great fire pit to roast marshmallows on. Host was perfect with communication. Can't say enough great things. Hoping we can make the trip out here in the future!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Weather didn't cooperate but we still enjoyed fishing, swimming, canoeing/kayaking/paddle boarding, and making s'mores almost every night! Property was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Ample supply of wood for the fire. Enjoyed reading my book, as I sat on the porch and listened to the rain and the loons.

This is our second Greer family rental and I plan on coming back. Great service, having the boat waiting for you at the dock is amazing and really enhances the rental. Our little family made memories that will last a lifetime.

We had a large group (12) and the house accommodated us pretty well. The grandchildren (7) had a great time, most of it spent in the water or using the kayaks and canoes. The adults relaxed a bit but with plenty of attention on water activities. A few minor issues but those have been attended to by the owner. The only suggestion I’d have is a small game table downstairs for rainy day and night time use. The camp fire was used nightly. The lake was beautiful to observe all during the day but especially at sunset and sunrise. Loved the lone loon. Nice to have Acadia close enough for a day trip. All in all a really nice family vacation.

Our family had so much at this lake house. We went tubing, fishing, hanging out at the tiki bar and just plain funning around! Josh is an excellent host. Our boat lost its steering and he had someone over in minutes to fix it so we could continue the fun times. He is the best!

We had a wonderful stay at the James House on Chemo pond! We rented a boat for the week which just took the vacation to another level of fun! Josh was very responsive and attentive. The lake is beautiful and very peaceful and relaxing. The house had everything we needed and more!
Can’t say enough good things about our vacation week!

Highly recommend renting with Josh Greer and his properties! The James House met all expectations and more. Was nice to have central air during a humid week. The house was very comfortable with nice furniture and plenty of space for both the teens and adults! Josh spent extra time going over the pontoon boat rental and made sure we were comfortable before renting. Highly recommend renting a boat if available. We appreciated the attention to details from the smores kit when we arrived to providing an extra trash barrel for our large group upon request. Josh and his crew go above and beyond! The whole experience made for a relaxing week at Chemo Pond, and everyone had a great time!

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. The house was clean, comfortable, and nicely situated on a beautiful and peaceful lake. So glad I rented a fishing boat -- the fishing was great and it allowed us to explore the lake. The fire pit was easily accessible and we enjoyed making s'mores while watching loons and ducks visit the dock area. Appreciated the supply of wood and the s'more fixings. Visited Acadia (1 hour away) and Bangor was only 25 minutes away for dining and shopping. But mostly just enjoyed relaxing at the lake! Josh and Scott were helpful and responsive to any questions we had.

This is a great home for family members who struggle with getting around. Most everything can be accessed from one floor. The thresholds between rooms aren’t raised. And there’s plenty of pavement between the home and the lake which allows for folks to come a little closer. Proximity to Bangor and Orono / Old Town is also great.

Our extended family which included 8 young adult cousins and 4 older generation people loved this house and its peaceful location feet away from Chemo Lake. We kayaked the lake and up Blackman Steam which was mostly flat water and enjoyed seeing the beaver lodges and dams. Several of our college age boys liked the fishing. It was very convenient to visit Bar Harbor for the day. The parking was great allowing college age kids who wanted to go on coffee runs etc to get out without moving lots of cars. Thanks for a great vacation.

The location couldn't be better! Beautiful property, waking up and just looking out on the lake with the sun coming up... I wish I was back right now! Will be traveling to this area again and without a doubt will be staying here! I did get the chance to message the host with a question, and he responded within minutes. Would recommend this place to anyone!

The house was exactly as shown in the listing. The views of Chemo Pond were breathtaking! The house was clean. Plenty of towels. Beds were comfortable. We rented this house for our daughter's graduation from the University of Maine. Convenient location.

This was the perfect house for my family to come and visit! We thankfully had snow and the lake was frozen so we were able to enjoy the outside and play in the snow as much as possible. The layout of the house was great so we could have the kids play downstairs and us grown ups upstairs. All around great experience!
The one thing I’d critique, is there are no fans in the bedrooms, so it got a little stuffy. But otherwise it was everything we needed!

We stayed during Thanksgiving week. We were relieved that the kitchen was fully equipped for baking/cooking with plenty of room and counter space. Spacious bedrooms with open concept living and dining. We're already planning our next trip at this beautiful and peaceful location!

The place was exactly as described and pictured. The lake is huge, and really enjoyed the pontoon experience. Josh was extremely courteous, helpful, and supportive through a few asks. Neighbors were great. No pretense. Thank you!

All 12 of us enjoyed our week at The James House on Chemo Pond. One tip for you -- do rent a boat. The lake is lovely, especially at sunset. We swam, kayaked, boated, fished, tubed, played lots of games, had tasty s'mores at the campfire -- the total camp package! The tiki hut across from the camp was an added bonus. Our host was superb, easy to contact, and very helpful. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.

Great waterfront roomy house!
We had a great week on the water. Enjoyed the kayaks and canoes and they even had a pile of wood for nightly camp fires. Host thought of everything with a Fourth of July welcome pack. The little extras were a nice touch. Will definitely rent this cabin again in the future.

Freezing Fun in Maine 😀
Property was right on a beautiful fully frozen lake. Nice quiet nights (minus the wind) and calm, cool and collected days. House offers plenty of space for your family gathering. Every essential you would normally need was available, our family moves the entire house to the rental each time we go on an adventure, so we come fully stocked. We will definitely be back if we are back in this area, thank you!
