Positives: The location was perfect for solitude and beauty. Lots of butterflies, deer and quiet. Didn't see anyone. Lots of great walking and bike trails nearby. Convenient to all parts of the island.
Negatives: Many parts of the house were lacking in upkeep. All the pillowcases were dirty with evidence of mold. (We were glad to have brought our own sheets and blankets and immediately washed the provided pillowcases). Mold was present in both downstairs and upstairs bathrooms as well as the coverings for sofas and chairs. Some kitchen tools were broken. Many lights and/or switches were not working. The light to the basement didn't work. The platform holding the washer and drier was rotting. The 'floor' of the outdoor shower was just rocks that were slippery when wet. The supply of hot water was inconsistent at best - especially in the first floor bath. The condition of the patio furniture was poor. The owner says the outdoor chairs will be replaced.
The online photos were old - maybe from 20 years ago - and show the property when it was in much better condition.
If the property was maintained properly, it would be a beautiful place to stay.

The location has a lot going for it - cool historic character, somewhat private location with a lot of space for kids to roam freely and safely, and a good layout with comfortable rooms and good separation of quiet and active spaces. There are a number of things that should be addressed by the owner for a more comfortable stay such as a functioning dryer and a more thorough cleaning of furniture textiles etc. Overall there were more pluses than minuses and I am confident these concerns can be addressed quickly.

We arrived at home and were super disappointed about cleanliness. Lots of mold on all couches and showers...so much so that we would not sit on the couches. Bathrooms did not seem like they were cleaned. The house was infested with bugs almost like no-one has stayed in the house in some time. I have rented houses on Block Island for over 10 years...I know the island has bugs but this was the worst. It was very warm - 80 degrees inside the home and the kitchen had 2 large sliders and no screens...it was uncomfortably hot. The fans that were provided were absolutely filthy (I sent the owners pictures of everything). The dryer stopped working at the beginning of the trip and that was a problem because we intend to wash our clothes/towels multiple times. The owner was super responsive and had our clothes laundered and she really tried to remedy everything in a very timely manner....but you cannot remedy mold by throwing a slip cover over it. As I said I have rented homes for over 10 years on the island and we are used to a much cleaner and higher quality rental. The six of us were disappointed with this rental and would not rent it again. The listing talked about trails to Rodman Hollow but there was no welcome book with information. There was a home very close behind and we could hear music and conversation...not a secluded house.

Thank you Linda! My family and I had a fabulous week at your beautiful home! Block Island is where we vacationed every summer while the kids were growing up and it was wonderful for us to get back all together again. We loved the house and the peaceful location- will definitely be back! Eileen

My friends and I stayed here for our friend’s bachelor weekend. We had a wonderful time and everyone loved the house. It was spacious and everyone had a great time. I would recommend to anyone.

We had the most amazing family vacation on the island. The house was perfect for our family. First floor bedroom and bathroom was perfect for our 93 yr old grandmother and the upstairs rooms were excellent for toddlers and other adults! The master bedroom is expansive and super comfortable. The pictures on this site do not do justice to the house, it truly was such a wonderful secluded vacation home. Linda was incredibly communicative and accommodating to every request. The yard is so spacious and was a perfect playground for the kids. Outdoor shower was perfect island touch! As others review mention the road (like many residential BI roads) are best suited for an SUV or the like, but just go slow! Can't wait to return again and again for many summers to come!

The same day we are traveling to the island, we get a text from the owner stating we need to bring our own bed linens. We had no way of doing so, so we had to sleep on top of blankets on the beds.
When we arrived to the house, the couch was mysteriously damp - but we quickly left/did not investigate too much further bc we were just dropping things off and heading to the beach.
Later that night when we returned, we noticed bugs all over the house, inside the couch that had been wet, exoskeletons from bugs littering all over furniture pieces, and mice droppings.
We decided to leave the next day (with one night still on the reservation). When we sought a refund, she denied it and tried to say that we were the ones who had peed on the couch. Her accusations have been wild, and her communication is disorderly.

We’ve been visiting Block Island for quite a few years now and stay at different rentals each time on the island. This rental did not disappoint! Very remote and quiet for our family. With 4 very young children, it was a perfect place. The owner was very accessible for questions and the house was very clean and pleasant. The only complaint is the driveway/road access is very bumpy, but an suv has no problem on it.
Overall, this retail really made our vacation this summer! I would recommend this house for those who enjoy peace away from the excitement of the town and beach crowds.
We would certainly stay here again if we vacation on Block again!

We had a great week at this property. When we arrived we were amazed by how stunning the area was. The house is even prettier than the photos. It's remote which we loved as we are musicians and enjoyed playing music in the back yard. The beds are all very comfortable. Linda was so attentive to any questions that we had. It is a good distance from town so bring a car or be prepared to use a taxi, which is very easy to do. We loved our week at Linda's house. You will too!

First off, we love Block Island and loved our time on the island. The house's yard was also great for our young children to explore. But we had a few major issues with the house, which shouldn't be a surprise to the host because we communicated them throughout our stay. First, the communication with Linda was often delayed (I had to reach out to her the day before our trip). She was often defensive when we had questions and frustrations particularly with the cleanliness of the house and the location of various things (such as a remote control for the tv). There was no house guide or book or anything to help us with any FAQs that might come up with a house that isn't your own. The kitchen was very grimy, with cabinet doors loose, and the dishwasher falling out. She offered to have the cleaning person come back during our stay - which didn't seem fair to the cleaner and would be disruptive to us. There were about 7 lights that had missing lightbulbs, which she again offered to have the cleaning person drop off. We felt that these were home owner issues and not something for a cleaner to have to manage mid-week. Many fixtures were in disrepair (light fixtures, toilet paper rolls, etc.). The outdoor tables and chairs were filthy and many were broken, making them unsafe for our kids to use. We also had to bring ALL of our linens, which she communicated one day prior to check in. I had to ask repeatedly if there were blankets for the beds or if we had to bring those, as well. With four children, this meant adding a giant suitcase and a lot of extra cleanup and work for us. Lastly, the house is on a VERY rough road with deep ruts. This has been mentioned in previous reviews, and not dealt with. The road was so deep that our car kept bottoming out, so I had to drive around them scratching the car all over the place. The photos in the listing are nice but deceptive - they must be at least 10 years old since the outdoor pergola is overgrown with vines and unusable. Again, love Block Island. Very disappointed by the house that was listed and the communication with the host.

Great house. Peaceful and very comfortable. Block is always an amazing place.
The driveway has very deep ruts. The bottom of my car (Honda Civic) kept scraping. This was the drive way not a road. Ended up stuck and needed a tow out of the driveway.
But hey all vacations have a story, right?!

The check in process was extremely easy! The house has 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 2 living rooms both with couches in them! The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could ever need. Remote with a beautiful back yard. Wasn't hard to find with the directions given a GPS will bring you right to the location! Perfect for bonfires, grilling , plenty of space with 2 living rooms both with couches! 2 full bathrooms came in handy when getting ready in the morning. I do wish the house had screens to open the windows as it got hot. The host was over accommodating, made check in easy and great, made sure we had what we needed as well as suggesting places for mopeds and bikes along with hiking! We saw deer time and time again which you don't catch on the island as often if it wasn't for this house being tucked away. If your looking to have a group of people for a weekend or longer trip to block island this house is great! It's perfect for staying up late as they have backyard lights and 2 different patio/deck areas. Bonfire pit, grill with propane I mean it was just an amazing birthday weekend! You won't be disappointed in this beautiful island cottage!
Thank you for our stay!

We arrived at night, which made water-filled potholes in the driveway a bit scary to navigate. It was a few weeks before the main season and the house felt like it hadn't been lived in for a while.
On the other hand, the setting is pastoral, verdant and peaceful. I'd recommend it for people who want a quiet getaway.

Booked this house for my sister's bachelorette weekend and it was the perfect place for all of us. Plenty of room, has a cute outdoor patio, and is secluded from other houses which we loved. Also, Linda was available to chat the entire weekend and was soo friendly! Highly recommend Linda's house for anyone interested!

We had a lovey time. We always do. The house was not clean when we arrived but the owner got someone there the next day to clean. The outdoor dining table had broken chairs. 2 were okay for a house that sleeps 8. Basement was grim for laundry. Otherwise good.!

We had a wonderful week at Linda's house, I wish we could have stayed longer! The house was clean, peaceful, quiet, and comfortable. Highly recommend it for those looking for a quiet and woodsy place to stay on BI.

Nice layout with open kitchen and living room and another family room with TV. First floor bedroom ideal for elderly. Enjoyed the option of yard with deck and sun or terrace and under tree shade. It was a treat to see the birds around the property and listen to their singing.

Linda's property was breathtaking! It's a beautiful house that is in one of the most beautiful parts of the island, surrounded by nature and gorgeous stone walls! Perfect cottage to rent with family or friends - the yard is a great place to hang out and it's only a short cab ride to the restaurants/bars. We'll be back!!!!

This lovely house is pleasantly secluded, offering peace and quiet as well as a pastoral setting. I can only imagine what it must be like in the summer with all the trees! The house is impeccably clean with a stylish and cozy interior, and the master bedroom is quite comfortable. I had a bit of confusion with the TV, and Linda, our hostess, was readily available to help me figure it out. She couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. If you’re looking for a cozy cottage with plenty of room for family, lovely amenities, and a wonderful responsive hostess, look no further. I’ll be returning for a longer stay without fail.

We love coming to the block , having said that the accommodations were extremely poor . The house stunk . I mean really bad the smell it was the worse in the kitchen as soon as you walk in to the home . The upstairs shower didn’t even work . There was a constant dry whistle or venting occurring about 20-35 minutes all the time at night was the worst we thought it was a fog horn but it wasent . We will never stay is such a shorty place again . For the price we paid we expected a clean well kept house that was taken care of . Not this shanty . I feel bad .

The house is lovely, shabby chic in style, albeit a bit remote down a few dirt roads in the middle of the island. There is a nice backyard but no views. New appliances and recent renovations made the house feel clean and fresh. The homeowner was very gracious and easy to communicate with. We were just 4 people so plenty of room, but it does sleep 8. Beaches are all a bike ride away.
