Enjoy the cozy great room layout with its leather recliners and massive stone fireplace and amber-aged logs. The kitchen and bathroom have been tastefully updated, maintaining the historic charm of the log cabin while integrating luxury touches. The sunroom overlooking the river even has heated tile floors to keep your feet cozy all year.
No matter the season, the atmosphere is perfect for a romantic getaway, anniversary, birthday, honeymoon, or intimate family vacation.
The cabin sits in a secluded river location on Big Creek river with 10 private acres and is for your exclusive use.
One very special treat is an old fashioned 18 hole miniature golf course that was built decades ago by a former owner. The stone-lined course winds through the forest and is sure to make a lasting impression on children and adults alike.
You will simply want for nothing as everything you could possibly need is provided for your comfort including all of your kitchen and cooking needs, luxury bedding, linens, and towels.
In the warmer months common outdoor activities in the region include fishing, hiking, bird watching, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, tubing, golfing, ATV trail riding, and horseback riding.
In the winter months things don't slow down as the temperatures, snowfall, and terrain make an ideal winter wonderland. The area has many maintained trails for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling in addition to tubing and downhill skiing within a short drive. If you just want to stay warm, the indoor cozy fireplace setting and sunroom view of the river and wildlife year round will not disappoint.
The area is rich with outfitters supporting your canoe, kayak, tube, ATV, snowmobile, horseback, skiing, and fishing interests.
We have a caretaker and cleaning staff that live within minutes of the cabin - and can help with virtually any problem. Just prior to your arrival we will send you the electronic door lock code so that you can walk right in when you arrive.
Besides having plentiful trout and wildlife to entertain you right outside your back door - you're also only minutes from the famous AuSable River - home of the "Holy Waters".
Fly fishing enthusiasts have long considered the Au Sable region as a must visit destination. As chronicled in "Fifty Places to Fly Fish Before You Die" you'll quickly appreciate the romance of this region. Experience the nearby Holy Waters, Masons Tract of the South Branch, North Branch of the AuSable, and Mio Trophy Water. In fact, it was the beauty of this region and quality of trout fishing that led to the formation of our nation's first Trout Unlimited chapter in 1959 by Au Sable river anglers. Big Creek river - flows into the AuSable just three miles downstream. Big Creek, being a tributary to the AuSable, is even considered by many to rival, the fishing on the AuSable.
We also love to help our guests plan their visit to the area and provide an area activities guide that contains key information on things to do in the area including all outdoor resources you may need and recommended restaurants and other resources in the region.
Getting to the cabin is easy in all seasons for all vehicles. The Michigan roads in this region are well maintained year round. The access road to the cabin is also maintained year round catering to 2WD vehicles. We also have a Generac standby, whole house, generator - so you never need to worry about losing power in a storm.

Everything we needed (and more) to have a great stay in Northern MI. Already planning to rent their other cottage which is located right on the Au Sable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this magical, beautiful cottage! Everything is perfectly done. From the tiny foxes on the decor to the amazing mini golf course in the woods. We enjoyed it all, and really appreciated the tranquility of the property. My kids enjoyed fly fishing right outside the house and we enjoyed birdwatching and squirrel watching from the numerous outside areas. Everything was clean, fresh and updated. Owners were extremely responsive, friendly, and with the extra mile to make us feel comfortable. We hope to be back!

It was beautiful!
Usually, pictures are misleading, but not in this case. The cabin was amazing! All the way down to the little things like matching silverware and towels, it made you feel like you were in a resort. Gold Fox Lodge is a definite "We are going to come here again" place!

This was the perfect spot for our family to relax and make memories that we will treasure forever. From the first day we arrived, we were already talking about our return trip! The cottage was beautiful, and the setting on Big Creek was so peaceful. The kids loved the putt putt course, and it was a quick trip to nearby trails and lakes. Jeff and Beth were such kind and responsive hosts. Gold Fox Lodge is truly a special place!

Winter Wonderland
The house was beautiful and cozy. The lights, fireplace and music was on when we arrived which was a warm welcome on a cold, dark night. I wish we would have had more time. Watching the blue jays in the morning and enjoying coffee on the dock while the snow fell on the creek was an amazing way to start each day.

This Place is Addictive
Spring, Summer, and Winter. We've been there three times and three different seasons now, and each time was a special visit, whether snow, rain or sunshine. The Gold Fox looks as good or better than its photos. Its simple luxury with an enclosed sun room looking into the woods and Big Creek make it easy to unpack, find a favorite chair and stay there the entire time. But don't! The area is so beautiful that it is worth taking hikes or spending time on the Au Sable if you can. Each visit while hanging out in the sun room, we have had the rare privilege of seeing an animal in the wild: our first visit, a large river otter; our second, an American fisher; and our third (this time), a bobcat. Jeff and Beth, the owners, continue to amaze us with their helpful service. They are always just a text away, and this time called us back to help us with something. Someday we hope to get there in the autumn as well, but we will have to book well in advance because the Gold Fox has rightly become a favorite among those who seek a pleasant escape Up North.

A Piece of Heaven
From the moment we drove up the driveway, this quaint Log Cabin in the woods was so inviting. My husband and I walked into the most immaculately clean and charming home we've ever stayed. The cabin was open, it was lit up with beautiful lighting and soothing music playing. A bottle of wine and freshly baked Banana Bread waiting for our arrival. We explored in awe of the quality, beauty and atmosphere of this little piece of heaven. The décor was so perfect, and the amenities left nothing to be desired. The beautiful walkway to Big Creek was so quaint and perfect. The relaxing sound of the little waterfall was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed this cabin and would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful high quality home away from home.

OUTSTANDING - Exceeded all our Expectations
It's not often that a place is "better than advertised", but this beautiful Gold Fox Lodge is a rare exception. Lovely, cozy log cabin in the woods, by a clear, beautiful stream, with lots of fun things to do, right there on the property, as well as others close by. Playing all-terrain putt-putt golf was definitely one of the highlights of our stay, as well as throwing horseshoes, sitting by the fire pit every evening, cooking several meals on the fire (and of course, s'mores afterwards), sitting in the back yard and on the dock during the day, watching the chipmunks, red & black squirrels, nuthatches, chickadees, a couple of rose-breasted grosbeaks, and other fauna. Tried our hand at fly fishing, but no luck. Rented ORV's at the nearby a-little-bit-of-everything store in Luzerne, and that was a blast! Thanks to Jeff & Beth for their wonderful hospitality, and to Shar for looking after every detail to make this stay exquisite. We look forward to the next opportunity to return to the Gold Fox Lodge!

Gold Fox - 10 STARS
Where to begin? From the moment you arrive, you will be amazed! The property and the beautiful cabin are meticulously maintained and no detail goes unnoticed. You are truly emerged in a slice of paradise and I feel grateful that the Turner family has chosen to share it with us. You can not go wrong with either of their gorgeous properties - The Copper Fox Lodge (just 3 miles away) or The Gold Fox Lodge (I have been to both!). My only dilemma will be which one to choose in the future because both are so fabulous!

Heavenly - Inside and Out
Our jaws dropped when we first drove up--what a beautiful, inviting place. The photos with the listing can show only a few glimpses to whet your appetite, and the real thing is twice as nice as the photos. The owners have thought of everything to make a stay at Gold Fox Lodge as perfect as possible, and they have exquisite taste. We (my recently-retired husband and I) would like to return as soon as possible--although it will probably be booked solid for months, once the word gets out how wonderful it is! TEN stars are not enough for this one.

We could not have been more impressed with our stay! it was an amazing experience. The level of detail from the furnishings, to the welcoming music, to the wonderful outdoor setting and detail of the cabin created a special experience for us! We would highly recommend the Gold Fox Lodge to anyone especially couples looking for that wonderful getaway! The owners made sure we were well cared for and gave us all the information we needed. Thank you!

WOW - This Place is Absolutely Stunning!
We've stayed in many cabins over the years but this place is absolutely breathtaking. No matter where you look (inside or out) this place is a postcard. Every detail is meticulously thought out. Incredible furnishings, beds, sheets, decor, etc. There is simply nothing out of place. The owners have thought of everything. This is not a stay - this is truly "an experience". The wildlife is incredible. We saw turkeys, grouse, woodpeckers, every kind of finch you can imagine, ducks, muskrats, deer, and about 5 kinds of squirrels - even flying squirrels one evening. You will be amazed!

Fabulous!
My wife and I recently stayed at the Gold Fox Lodge for our anniversary. We were simply amazed and charmed when we entered the cabin. The decor was superb. The cabin was immaculate. The ambiance was warm and welcoming! So much so - that we never left! Jeff and Beth are gracious hosts who obviously take pride in their work! We would absolutely recommend. We have been bragging about this cabin to all our friends suggesting they stay here. We plan on returning and my wife wants me to book this cabin again right now! Thank you Jeff & Beth!

It Doesn't Get Any Better
There is simply not enough space to write about how amazing our stay was! Hands down THE best cabin we have ever been to-anywhere! There was honestly not one thing we were disappointed with. EVERY detail of this cabin has been thought out to make your stay the best it can be- to the wonderful beds, to the open glass shower, to the fully stocked kitchen... Extra cozy blankets everywhere, glowing lights on for when you walk in the door, amazing views, beautiful property with fun things like golf, horse shoes, and a fire pit on the property. We were all SO impressed and can not wait to go back!

The Perfect Christmas Cabin!
This is the second year in a row we have stayed at Gold Fox Lodge during Christmas. It is the quintessential north woods cabin. I can't say enough about how much our family loves this place. We are already planning our summer stay. Of the many VRBO locations we have stayed, this tops the list.
