Start your vacation by stepping into this stunning custom Hawaiian home, where captivating sunsets, magnificent views, cool ocean breezes, and top-of-the-line amenities await. This elegant residence is equipped with premium mattresses, bedding, and kitchenware for your comfort.
Hale Ohana le'a (House of Family Joy) is a vacation rental nestled in the beautiful gated community of Keauhou Estates, just 10 minutes south of Kailua-Kona. This home features 4 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths, offering breathtaking panoramic ocean, coastal, and sunset views. Relax on the expansive covered lanai overlooking a saltwater pool with a Hawaiian Island motif, a plunge pool, and spectacular ocean vistas, all while enjoying the serene sounds of birds, cool ocean breezes, and the distant crashing waves.
The main living area boasts luxurious Acacia wood floors and ceilings, mahogany finishes, beautiful island decor, and floor-to-ceiling screen and glass doors that fully retract into hidden pockets, creating a seamless open-air living experience. The gourmet kitchen is fully equipped with high-quality cooking and dining supplies, including a Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer, stainless steel 6-burner gas cook-top, 2 convection ovens, a microwave, 2 dishwashers, and a coffee maker with a grinder. Additionally, the large pass-through from the kitchen to the outdoor dining and cooking area, which includes a large gas grill and separate cook-top, enhances the outdoor dining experience.
The main floor primary suite offers expansive views, his and her walk-in closets, and a large en-suite bathroom with an ocean-view tub. Bedrooms #2 and #3, accessed through their own entrance, feature King-size beds (one can convert to two twins upon request and for a fee) and share a Jack and Jill bath with private sinks. One side includes a mini-fridge and microwave, and both rooms have their own TVs and AC controls. The 'Ohana suites are accessed through a tropical landscaped courtyard with a bubbling water feature.
The "second primary" suite also has its own entrance, offering sweeping views, a full bath, TV, separate AC, mini-fridge, and a private lanai, providing a peaceful retreat away from the main living area.
End your day by practicing your 1-10 ft putts on the small artificial putting green or, after sunset, sit by the large fire pit seating area off the pool and gaze at the starlit night over the Pacific. Although this home is situated in the private gated community of Keauhou Estates, providing a tranquil and quiet tropical oasis, it is just minutes from premier beach access, a supermarket, golf courses, a theatre, numerous restaurants, local attractions, and Kona village.

The home and property (pool, spa, lanai, etc) were amazing! Sunsets on the lanai were spectacular. Very comfortable furniture, well equipped kitchen, and extras. The separate building for 3 of the 4 bedrooms was a little more awkward than we expected, but the teens enjoyed their privacy. The location was very quiet but fairly convenient - 12 minutes to Kona restaurants & shops. Excellent beaches nearby. We loved our time on Hawaii & this home was relaxing and exceeded our expectations!

We loved our stay at this house. We had 5 adults and 2 children and had plenty of space. The property has a unique design where the 3 families could each have privacy with their own room and bathroom. The view from the back porch was breathtaking for every sunrise and sunset. The only downside was that the pool wasn't heated (as are most pools in Hawai'i) so the pool was pretty chilly and we didn't swim at all. Other than that we had a great experience and will likely book again if we go back!

Everything went absolutely as planned! We were in the absolute perfect location for anything and everything we as a family would want to experience. From the amazing pool, cleanliness of the rooms, layout of the house, location, comfort and overall warmth and love of this property. We were all able to be happy and entertained, even from my 8yr old all the way up to my 60yr old mother and her husband. Nothing even compares! Would absolutely recommend to anyone and everyone.

Visited Kona with family for the Ironman and needed a large home for our group. The location was perfect to escape the traffic congestion of that event but close enough to make getting there easy. The home was beautiful as well as the ocean view from the lanai which we enjoyed nightly. We had 8 adults and all said their rooms were perfect and beds comfortable. We did a lot of cooking and the kitchen and outdoor barbecue had everything you need to prepare large meals. Loved the home and would definitely request this place again with a large group.

This is the perfect house to unplug, unwind, relax and stare at the ocean!! Beautiful property, great neighborhood! We truly enjoyed this vacation!

Everything was great except we had a/c issues everyday. Property management were responsive but we had workmen everyday but one.

What an outstanding property where no details were left out! Can’t beat the view, whether early in the morning or watching beautiful sunsets in the evening. The kitchen was loaded with all the amenities of a high end kitchen ready to entertain. The grounds are extremely well maintained (on property and within the private gated community). Only downside was the washing machine was not working properly which we reported but it never was fixed during our stay. Still, an outstanding location that we would consider returning to!!

We rented this home with friends to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday. It was perfect! Every couple had a bedroom and the big kids could all sleep in one room together. The pool was beautiful and we loved relaxing by it and in it everyday. The neighborhood is quiet and easy to get to. If we are ever back in Hawaii, we would absolutely stay here again.

The eight of us had a beautiful vacation here for 10 days and are making plans to go back again. The house was set up beautifully with separate entrances for the different rooms, far enough apart to have plenty of privacy. Comfortable seating throughout the interior & exterior and kitchen is set up to easily prepare meals. Lanai has breathtaking views that almost make you question whether it's real. We stay at a lot of VRBO's and this one's definitely set up the best. Comfortable mattresses as well, which is lacking in a lot of other homes. If I had any negative thing to say it would be that someone calling themselves a "landscape technician" let themselves in unannounced without any advance notice and start taking pictures that included friends and family in the pool. We were later advised that the homeowner did not know they were coming either, which was disconcerting. The guest book does advise that a pool company and landscaper will be coming but they had already been there and they knocked first. This person just came in and started taking pictures and was not professional in how they handled things.

Stayed here for Ironman - just an outstanding location 15 mins from the pier (and south of Palani, which made the roads more accessible on race day). Every amenity that we wanted, lots of room for the five adults, with each of our children having their own space. Views in the morning and at night were exquisite. While running and riding from this spot, meant lots of hill climbs, the resort like quality of the premises was worth it. We used the pool every day. The master bedroom with ensuite was a very large refuge. The appliances were first rate, an excellent stove, fridge and BBQ with dual dishwashers and washer/dryer. We did have a problem with the fridge and while a repair person was dispatched, they weren’t able to fix the problem in the time we were there (a part needed to be ordered). Nice touches included lablelling all of the light switches. Being a gated community, it is very quiet and while we thought that might be challenging to pass through every time we entered, it was a smooth process - even when ordering a cab (we needed one to transport to the airport and Kona Cab easily beat the price of Uber). Overall extremely satisfied with the experience, would stay here if we ever return to the big island.

This property was gorgeous. It has every amenity needed for a great stay. The house was extremely beautiful and clean. The outdoor area was perfect for hanging out and relaxing while watching the sunset. The location of the house was great for seeing all the sites. It was close to all the restaurants, local activities and beaches. We took some drives to the other side of the island to the waterfalls at Hilo and to Volcano national park and they were about 2 hours each way. Overall great trip and we would 100% stay here again!!!

Impressive and beautiful
The house was absolutely beautiful and had everything we could have possibly needed. We enjoyed everything about the property, especially the amazing sunsets. The neighbor was doing exterior remodeling on their home that included a constant jackhammering for 2 to 3days but I’m sure our host was not aware of that or would’ve been able to do anything about it. We expected a king bed in the fourth bedroom instead of 2 twins, but all of the beds were very comfortable. We would totally recommend this home. Loved it!

A lovely home in a quieter neighborhood
An amazing primary suite in the main house, a very nice secondary suite *upstairs* in the ohana. Two children’s bedrooms downstairs in the ohana. The kids’ rooms share a “Jack & Jill” bathroom. Only one of the children’s rooms would be suitable for an adult couple as the other has two twin beds.
The kitchen is lovely & decently stocked with almost everything (hardware-wise) you would need. If you plan to do any serious cooking, bring your own knives.
The grill/outdoor dining & living area are delightful!
Home has AC!

Absolutely beautiful!
The property is spectacular. The only issue we came across was the bed in the main house (beautiful master suite) was so tall, that one of our party who is handicapped had a really difficult time accessing the bed.
Other than that one issue, the property is a truly a beautiful home. It is broken up like a compound, but that actually makes it quiet with everyone able to find a quiet place if needed. The kitchen didn't lack for a single pot/pan or utensil, and there were more than enough pieces for all to enjoy.
We did have issues with the TV in the master bedroom and never were able to get it solved, but the TV in the main living room, which was not working when we originally got there was remedied by the provider by day two.
Now to the meat and bones of the property.....the back lanai and pool. You couldn't ask for anything more. The pool was perfect for the little guys, and the lanai was truly amazing. You will experience some of the most beautiful sunsets the earth provides. The outdoor kitchen is perfect, and the doors leading to the lanai will open up to provide an unparalleled view of the ocean and pool.

Happy memories to last a lifetime!
Gorgeous home, exceptionally well decorated and provisioned. Stunning views and ample room to gather with those you love. Suited every member of our 2 families (ages 17 - 52) - loved sharing this space to cook, visit and relax.

Babymoon Bliss
We booked this property to celebrate the upcoming arrival of our little girl with family. Overall, the stay was fantastic and we enjoyed the privacy that the other bedrooms afforded as the 3 guest bedrooms are actually separate from the house. The Master Suite is the only bedroom located in the main house.
The neighborhood was beautiful, the views of the ocean and sunsets were fantastic, and the house itself is stunning. It has 2 dishwashers, which is great when you’re feeding a large group, and had plenty of dish/cookware options.
There were just a few oddities with the location. If you are staying in one of the 3 guest rooms away from the house, you MUST make sure you have your key on you whenever you leave your room as they are locked individually from the outside. It’s also possible to lock yourself out of your room if you forget your key (as we did once) because the bottom handle can automatically lock separate from the deadbolt when you shut the door. We were in the upstairs guest bedroom when this happened, and thankfully our lanai patio door was unlocked so my husband was able to crawl over the wall to let us in. Just something to be aware of.
They are also VERY serious about the 9pm quiet time. My husband and I were sitting on the lanai talking with my brother and his wife, at 9:30pm, and we were chastised by the security guard from the road-and we’re not a wild bunch, so that was surprising.
Also, if you like Fox News, that isn’t an option here for whatever reason. It was the only news station that did not have any sound for their channels. ¯/_(ツ)_/¯
Other than that, everything was great and the home was beautiful.

Absolutely Lovely
Two couples just wanted to have a quiet week in a lovely location. We couldn't have asked for more. The property is just as advertised. Very high quality furnishings with everything we could have needed. And the view was spectacular! Woke up every morning drinking my coffee on the lanai, looking out over the ocean. So peaceful. Would definitely go back again!

Great views with ample room
We enjoyed our stay, well equipped kitchen and plenty of beach towels. Enough supplies for the full week as far as paper towels, TP, laundry and dish detergent. Could use more coffee cups as they have probably dwindled over time, at least they are few compared to the ample number of other dishes. There were two umbrellas in the garage, multiple beach chairs and we left our snorkel gear for the next family to enjoy.
The house instructions say not to turn main house AC down to under 72, but that applies to the guest house AC systems as well. Ours was frozen up when we arrived and had to turn off for 24 hours to let it thaw. I turned it down to 68 to try to get it to kick on, so that obviously didn’t help. There were a couple of very minor maintenance issues like dusty ceiling fan blades, outdoor seat cushions may need to be replaced soon, and burned out lightbulbs (end of driveway address bulb was only significant one), but overall the house is well maintained, beautiful, outdoor areas are great and I’d totally stay there again!
Location is only about 15 minutes from the main drag where restaurants etc are, and two beaches are within 10 minutes.

A beautiful well kept property with Amazing views!
This home is fantastic! We had a 3 generation family staying here for 9 days. It is in a gated neighborhood in an excellent location South of Kailua-Kona. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. The sunset views are incredible! The pool was very nice. The driveway was challenging, make sure you have a backup camera! The property managers were incredibly responsive to any problems. The hot tub didn’t work initially, but was promptly fixed. The kitchen in this house is equipped with everything! There were water toys and beach equipment for our use in the garage ( we didn’t use), but this house is lacking nothing for the renter! The hot tub has no jets, not that this matters to us, but we did ask the pool guys when they were there. Mahalo to the owners for sharing their beautiful home and kudos to the excellent people at Koana Coast Vacations for their excellent service!

All easy ... only glitch was the hot tub heater not working .... which was too bad cause the view from the hot tub is world class.

Our family had the amazing opportunity to celebrate our 10 year anniversary here. The property was just as beautiful as the pictures. Plenty of room for our huge family to spread out. The separation between the main house and the ohana gave some great privacy to the extended family. The beach toys and chairs in the garage were a nice surprise. We are already planning our next visit and sincerely hope this property is available. Thank you for having us!

Beautiful!
Beautiful property and location. Very clean, beds super comfortable, plenty of kitchen utensils and dishes, two dishwashers, cleaning supplies (because I do keep the house clean on vacation), neighborhood very quiet which is lovely, good security, neighbors friendly. A few caveats...the description mentions sitting around the fire pit which you can do...you are just not allowed to LIGHT the fire pit. I totally understand the liability there, but think the way it was advertised was misleading. Also there is only one bedroom in the main house so if you have small children this will not be the rental for you. Our children’s are adults so it was no problem. We did have a problem with the spa immediately upon arrival and it was fixed after three days of phone calls. Meagan in service is not very helpful. The huge sliding doors are beautiful., but they do not completely close (they will lock, but there is a half inch crack the height of the doors) which I also pointed out to Meagan as well as the leak in the upstairs unit in the guest house. I didn’t want the beautiful hardwood floors to be ruined by water. I have no idea if that has been repaired. Meagan in service was an attitude problem for me.
All that being said...we loved the house. We would happily stay there again. Perfect location.

Amazing trip and house! We’ll be back!
We had a wonderful family trip to this property. My wife and I hosted her parents and my Mother for their first trips to Hawaii. They loved the island and they lived this property. Everybody had their own private area and the owners were very thoughtful with how they designed and furnished the house. This house is great for a group. Thanks for a great place to host our annual venture to Hawaii!
