Pu'uwai Villa is on a landscaped half-acre on a private road with plenty of off-street parking.
Private, very quiet, one of only six homes on the private road. A large open space forest borders the property. Pu'uwai Villa has three bedrooms, two and a half baths, 2700 square feet of living area, sleeps up to eight persons and a 15'x 30' saltwater pool. There are tile floors throughout.
Sweeping ocean and shoreline views from every living area, upstairs, downstairs and by the pool, with a year-round sunset view. The 800' elevation ensures privacy, cool afternoon and evening breezes and near perfect temperatures year-round. Three covered lanais overlooking ocean views and the pool.
The expansive upstairs living area has soaring wood beamed ceilings, indirect lighting, comfortable seating, dining area, entertainment center, half bath and laundry room. It opens onto a covered lanai running the length of the living area and kitchen with chairs for lounging and an additional dining area (seating six) overlooking the pool and ocean/sunset views. Fans on the lanai over the seating and dining areas.
The gourmet kitchen has an island bar, built in desk, skylight and every utensil, vessel, and appliance the gourmet cook needs for the simplest to the most exotic meal (bring your own spices for the exotic ones), including a reverse osmosis drinking water system. Glasses, dishes, flatware and serving pieces are included with service for 12.
Past the upstairs entry hall to the right of the front door is the primary bedroom suite with a king bed, chaise lounge, walk in closet and its own lanai overlooking the pool and ocean views. The bath has two vanities, a skylight, large soaking tub and separate walk-in tiled shower.
The downstairs includes a family room, a full bath with tub and separate walk-in shower. Two large bedrooms, each with a king bed, are located on this level. The family room has a queen size sofa bed, a children's play table and Roku TV. It opens to the pool lanai, ocean views, dining table, lounge chairs and barbecue area.
A removable pool fence is available if toddlers are present for an additional set-up and breakdown charge.
There is weekly pool and gardening service and hi-speed wireless internet throughout. Televisions in upstairs and downstairs living rooms, each include a Roku streaming player (bring your login info for Netflix, Prime, Hulu, Disney, etc.). The home is tastefully decorated with original local art. You need only your clothes along with family and friends to share this beautiful place.

We were thrilled with our stay at this location. It was so peaceful. We felt relaxed and felt at home immediately walking in the door. They even left an anniversary card for us and snacks. The view was amazing! We had everything we needed to make our meals at the house and we utilize the grill. We enjoyed the pool, as well.
David, the concierge, was very helpful throughout our planning process! We are already thinking about our next trip there and will book this house again.

Puuwai Alii Place was an idyllic island retreat for us. The house is nestled into a peaceful, quiet neighborhood. The gardens and pool outside make a wonderful oasis, with a spectacular sunset view. The home is very comfortable and outfitted with everything you need, in generously sized rooms. All in all, the home is worthy of a top recommendation.
The evening wildlife songs (frogs?) can't be ignored, so a note of caution if that boisterous night-long chorus would be a problem for light sleepers. Otherwise, the morning bird songs and sweet flowers around the property really make for a great stay.

We absolutely loved our stay. We couldn’t have been happier. The home was exceptionally clean and fully stocked with all of the amenities we needed, including cooking utensils and KitchenAid appliances. The location of the home is ideal for couples looking for a quiet getaway, as it rests in a quiet neighborhood that is only about ten minutes away from the nearest restaurants and grocery stores. We rarely heard our neighbors and much appreciated having such easy access to the city environs. Even in the middle of August, we slept comfortably without use of an air conditioner and at times even required blankets to stay warm during the night! We were also impressed with the house pool, which was clean and very well maintained. We took advantage of the pool’s solar cover, which can be manually pulled over the pool to keep it warm at night. The pool averaged about 85 degrees during our stay, which we enjoyed since my wife and I prefer swimming in warmer water. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and superbly maintained. Kona Coast provides exemplary customer service, as they provide swift communication and are responsive to their customers’ needs. It is apparent they run a tight ship. My wife and I will definitely be back next year.

The house was just as wonderful as it looked in the pictures we saw online. The sunsets from the house were just magnificent- unforgettable. We had 7 family members staying together and there was plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen is very generously outfitted, and even had a Vitamix blender which we use at home on a daily basis to make smoothies, so we were super stoked to see that.
We received regular emails before our trip and during our stay which gave us recommendations for things to do in the area and recommended restaurants. The frequent communicated was appreciated. (Notice: the recommended restaurants were all full and couldn't get a reservation, so I assume they must be good!! Try to reserve the recommended restaurants early!)
The only thing that I would change is that I personally like firm beds and pillows, and the beds were fairly soft, but I realize that a lot of people like softer beds, including many of the others in our group, so that's just a matter of preference.
I would definitely recommend this house, and would love to come back here sometime. It's a wonderful retreat space, and many thanks to the owner and management company.

Love, love, loved this house! My husband and 2 kids (9,11 y/o) stayed here. We knew us was going to be good when we pulled in and the drive was beautifully landscaped and then we walked into the yard and saw the same care taken throughout the property.
The kitchen was outfitted with EVERYTHING. I don’t think I’ve stayed at a home with better kitchen tools.
The pool was clean and well cared for and my kids loved it!!!
I loved the views, the decor, and care that was taken with this home.

Great stay in every way, except the frogs chirping at night was so loud we had to sleep with ear plugs in. The house, pool, view, and location were all amazing.

The concierge with Kona Vacations was amazing and helped us plan our whole trip to the Big Island. This house was our own Hawaiian retreat completed with breathtaking views and beautiful landscaping. The house had everything we needed, except the groceries. The teens really loved the pool. The beds were very comfortable. And when we had a water heater issue, it was addressed promptly that very day. The concierge with Kona Vacations was amazing and helped us plan our whole trip to the Big Island. Our family is very grateful to have had the opportunity to stay in this beautiful home for our "trip of a lifetime".

The amazing pictures do not do this home justice. Everything was as advertised and more. The kitchen was amazingly well stocked. Everything we needed was there. Enough linens for everyone. There was also a great selection of beach items.
The view from the lanai made for the perfect way to start and end the day. The pool was amazing and the kids had a great time.
I enjoy being a bit off the beaten path a bit so didn't mind the short drives into town. And bring higher up have the perfect view. Would happily stay here again the next time we return to Kona.

What an amazing stay we had. This place had amazing views in the morning and in the evening. The pool was fantastic. Highly recommend this rental. Everything we needed to cook and all the extra little things that make it easier. There were extra snorkel gear and coolers in the garage which saved me money on renting those!

You never know if the property will be as listed, this one is! We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Privacy, wonderful rooms, kitchen supplies are great, games, nice tv, great lanais. Beautiful Hawaiian landscaping.
We absolutely loved the pool! Clean & warm, perfect way to end our days. Lastly, the view. Spectacular! A different sunset every day! We were here for 3 1/2 weeks and could stay here longer. Great communication between Kona Coast Vacations and our concierge service (David). Can't say enough wonderful things about this home. We will be back to this wonderfully relaxing property!! Mahalo

The best lodging in Hawaii
Puuwai Alii Place is so gorgeous and the ocean view from the lanai is spectacular. The house perfectly accommodates 3 couples plus 2 teens or kids. My group of 8 women were very pleased with the whole house, the lovely gardens, and proximity to town. It's a bit of a drive to the beach and other points of interest, but at the end of the day we looked forward to going "home" because this place truly made us feel right at home. Definitely unforgettable experience for us and highly recommended to anyone checking out this place for future rental.

The pool is beautiful with foliage surrounding the yard, but keep it covered if you want it to be warm. The house is very spacious, but note there are a lot of stairs. Fabulous House
2 families (4 adults/3 kids) spent an amazing 8 days at this gorgeous house. It was everything we expected and more. Breakfasts with Kona coffee and late night dinners on the lanai were a highlight. House was very clean and fully stocked with necessities. Very close to town and services. The garage was stocked with beach chairs, boogie boards and wagons which made trips to the beach super convenient. We would recommend this home to anyone visiting the big island.

Everything and More
We were looking for an affordable home with a pool and view for our family of 7 adults - this home delivered on all counts. The views were spectacular, the kitchen stocked with everything needed - all the rooms were nice sized and the Master was lovely with it's own Lanai. And the pool was amazing. The location was convenient to both downtown Kona with shops, restaurants and groceries and close to Captain Cook for great snorkeling. We appreciated the beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards and snorkel equipment, they were all put to good use! We had a wonderful family vacation with just the right mix of activities and family time on the lanai and the pool. We would highly recommend.

Our family rented Puuawai Alii Place for a week in January and it was the perfect place to stay. The house is clean, spacious, and very well appointed. Everything you need, from plates to grill tools to toilet paper, is provided. They have both a gas and a charcoal grill which we made liberal use of. There's no AC, but we didn't need it. The house stays nice and cool at night. For those used to traveling in the Caribbean, there are no bugs/mites/mosquitos to worry about. The beds are all large and extremely comfortable. The bathrooms are nice and clean and enormous as well. The pool is gorgeous. It isn't heated, which is common in Hawaii, but even in January the water was in the low 80 degrees. If you make good use of the solar pool cover to trap in heat at night it stays nice and warm. The sunset views from the house are incredible. We enjoyed them every night of our stay. The neighborhood around the house is nice and quiet. Everything you need can be gotten at the grocery stores in Kona, just over 10 minutes away. Overall this was a stellar place to stay. I daresay we'll be back--it was that good.

Best stocked kitchen we have ever used. Loved every aspect of it except the openness of the home allows sound to carry to all parts of the house making it harder for our 18 month old to sleep and nap.

This house was a perfect size for my husband and I, our 3 children and my mother-n-law. We liked that the house was on a private street and neighbors were somewhat far away. Our kids loved the pool! All the amenities the house came with were fantastic and we really felt like we were at home. Although overall the property was clean and maintained, I do believe the bathrooms and showers could use a deep, deep cleaning and scrubbing. Besides the pool, the lanai on the 2nd floor was our favorite part of the house. We had most of our meals outside and took advantage of the view and watching the sunset. We had a wonderful time!

Beautiful location!
We stayed for 8 days in this house. It was the perfect size for our family of 4 and a welcome retreat after several days on Waikiki. The house is gorgeous, on a quiet street, and has an amazing view of the ocean and sunset. We loved sitting on the lanai! The pool was very nice and we appreciated all the amenities in the house (extra towels, soap, laundry detergent). The house is a good location on the Kona side. You definitely need a car, preferably 4-wheel drive, to get around the island. We really did not want to leave! One thing, the house is not air conditioned, which was fine because we opened all the windows and there was a nice breeze every day. My sons were quite taken with the geckos! Thank you for an amazing vacation! We can't wait to come back!

Almost perfect stay.The living room ceiling fan did not work nor did the bathtub plugs work. The rental co.called the next day to check and see if everything was okay. We did let them know about the problems and by the time we returned home from our activities the fan had a new switch and the tub had a new plug. It was a little too small but we made it work. We were sad to leave at the end of the week.The only downside side was the weather was just a little to cool to enjoy the pool.A hot tub would have been nice. Close to the Kapalua beach (9 min)with excellent snorkeling. Plenty of extra beach towels,chairs , umbrella, boogie boards,& snorkling equipment. Would definitely love to return to this home. Would recommend 4 wheel drive vehicle to be able to visit the secluded hard to get to beaches. P.S the beds are very comfortable.
