Darling one bedroom, one bath, second floor beach cottage apartment in the North End section of Virginia Beach . One block from the beach, one block from the state park. Ideally located!

This newly renovated cottage apartment for two includes updated kitchen with granite countertops, new appliances, and washer/dryer; laminate hardwood-like floors throughout; tiled shower with glass door; bedroom with queen sized bed, built-in desk, and drawers, and large closet. This cottage apartment is the perfect couple’s get-away but can also accommodate two people who want to sleep separately (full size pull-out sofa bedding available upon request).

Please note: This apartment is in mint condition. The pictures posted on the website are accurate and up-to-date. If, upon arrival, you notice any damage, please report it to me immediately so I can address it.

The newest addition to the rental space is an outdoor fire pit located on the front patio. Cuddle up around it on a chilly evening with warm throw blankets and pillows!

This apartment is for adults only; it is not equipped for children. Minimum age requirement to rent is 21.

During the non-summer months (January-May and October-December), rentals are a 3-night minimum. Longer term rentals (Weekly and Monthly) are available as well.

Summer rentals require a minimum stay of 7 nights, which runs June through Labor Day weekend.

All short term rentals are regulated by the City of Virginia Beach and require strict adherence to their guidelines in order to maintain the integrity of the neighborhood. As such, only those renting the property are allowed on the premises after 11pm. No parties or large congregations are permitted.

Quiet time is between 11pm-9am. Please be respectful of your neighbors’ peace and quiet time.

Please lock your cars and the rental property at all times.

This was a lovely little place that was exactly as advertised. Just a very short walk to the beach and a short drive to the downtown area. Cozy and welcoming with a friendly and accommodating property owner. I would definitely recommend staying here to any couple looking to experience Virginia Beach.

The apartment was perfect for two. It had everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location is highly desirable - the north end of Virginia Beach is beautiful. It is quiet and uncrowded but stores, restaurants and attractions are easily accessible by bike or car. The host is accessible but mindful of privacy. We had a lovely stay.

The apartment was perfect so neat and clean. Great place to stay if you are looking for a peaceful place on the beach. Great location minutes from Shore Drive and the Chesapeake Bay and First Landing State Park. The Atlantic and the Bay… best of both worlds. We will be back for another stay soon.

This upstairs apartment was charmingly decorated and extremely clean. The location was ideal for us in that it was quiet and only one block from the beach. Highly recommend.

We loved the beach cottage! It was the perfect size for me and my wife - the perfect location just a stones throw from the beach and central to other destinations in the area. The neighborhood is so charming and warm (and not at all touristy). The apartment itself was comfortable, cute, and impeccably clean. Ritamarie was incredibly responsive and helpful. We can't imagine staying anywhere else next time we visit.

The cottage was wonderful. The weather was exceptional, for viewing the solar eclipse! The Hostess, Ritamarie, was outstanding! She made my stay extra special for my birthday week vacation. The short walk to the secluded oceanfront was a nice highlight for my stay.

This property is well appointed and in a great location. Just a few minutes walk to the beach. It's easy to get around and close to area attractions while being far enough that the environment is quiet and relaxing.

The upstairs apartment was well stocked, even had a container labeled "In case you forgot" with items such as toothpaste. There were interesting books and Virginia Beach visitors information available. The kitchen was stocked with a few spices, lots of pot and pans, and dishes. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay.

This beautiful little apartment was just as advertised. The host thought of everything you might need. Access to the beach was very close by. I am very fussy about cleanliness & it met my standards. Beautifully decorated & comfortable. Felt like a little home away from home. We tried 4 of the hosts recommended restaurants & they were all very good! We would stay again!

What a lovely cottage! Rita Marie was so welcoming. Introduced me to Petie and gave me a personal tour of her adorable she shed. Her booklet with a list of recommended restaurants was point on. Loved every restaurant we had time to try. Relaxing, comfortable. Easy walk to ocean. If it hadn’t been so hot, we would have walked more often. Highly recommend. Thanks for the delightful home for our vacation.

This property has everything you would need for a great vacation. The beach is 1 block away, plenty of space to sit along the oceanfront. The apartment was immaculate, and the house had an outdoor shower to remove all sand from a day at the beach. Virginia Beach oceanfront is about 3 miles away and easily accessible by bicycle (no parking fees). VB has great biking/walking trails so you are away from traffic. This was a great stay, and RitaMarie was a great host! Looking forward to visiting again. Anthony

My partner and I stayed at the North End Beach Cottage Apartment for a week & the experience was excellent! It is only a block & the walkway onto the sand from the beach which is clean and not very populated. The apartment itself is well thought out, had everything we needed, and even had extra toiletries in case we had forgotten something. We loved having a quiet oasis away from the family we were visiting. Plus the mascot Petie is an adorable pup!

Ritamarie truly does it right! This cottage has warmth, comfort and is close to everything. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit, the porch space and close proximity to the beach. Shiplap Cottage had everything you need for a time away from home. Amenities provided were truly great. We would definitely return.

My daughter and I came to Shiplap Cottage for a Birthday/ Mother’s Day weekend. Rita Marie was a friendly and accommodating host and we had a relaxing time both in her cottage and exploring the beautiful beach area. We would not hesitate to make a return visit and would encourage others to visit. We didn’t want to Leave.

Ritamarie is an amazing host. She was there if we had any problems. She gave us great recommendations for restaurants to eat at to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. The property was just the perfect size for the two of us. Everything we needed was provided for us. The property is in a great location and just a short 5 minute walk to the beach.

We've stayed here three times now and have thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It's such a clean, quiet, compact, pretty little apartment with a great view of the well-attended lawn and garden backyard. Located in a nice neighborhood away from, but an easy drive to, the hubbub of Virginia Beach. First Landing State Park is just around the corner, providing a terrific hiking locale. It's a short walk to the beach through a very well manicured garden path and dunes -- a real treat for us gardeners. The beach itself is wide, well-maintained, and not crowded. It's the perfect place for a couple looking for a quiet getaway near the beach.

We enjoyed our stay at Shiplap Cottage! It was in a quiet neighborhood with a very short walk to the beach. We almost had the beach to ourselves most days. The cottage was so cute and comfortable with everything you could possibly need. We definitely want to come back in the future.

This place was so nice and cozy. The host was very helpful and responded quickly to any questions we had. The location of the house was about a 2 minute walk to the beach. Any supplies ypu needed for the beach were included as well as anything you needed to cook or grill out. Will definitely be booking again!

Our stay at Shiplap cottage was perfect. The second-floor apartment was just right for two people. The neighborhood was very quiet and only a short four-minute walk to a beautiful beach. There were few people at the beach, so we felt we had it all to ourselves with the shorebirds and dolphins. There is a beautiful historic lighthouse at the end of the street, and we enjoyed visiting nearby First Landing State Park and Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. FIVE STARS FOR SURE!

This rental was everything we could ask for. It was exactly like the pictures, very clean, and in a great location. Ms. Ritamarie was very accommodating and willing to assist with anything we needed. And Petie was friendly and adorable. We could not have asked for a better place to stay during one of my bucket list vacations! Highly recommmend!!

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay here. The walk to the beach was short and easy, hardly a block away. The rental had just about everything we needed (I would suggest adding an ice cream scoop and some larger kitchen knives to the utensil drawer :) ) and nothing we didn't. Our hostess was pleasant at every interaction. We loved being near the ocean again and this rental really fit the bill for us!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay. Rita Marie is an helpful lovely host. The cozy place is perfect for two, situated in a beautiful neighborhood one block from the beach and a 5 minute drive to the trails at First Landing. The place is lovely with good appliances, comfortable bed and furniture , plenty of closet space, and everything you need in a kitchen. It’s pretty and homey. We would definately stay there again.

The beach cottage is ideally located near the beach, just a short walk across the street to the beach. The cottage is very clean and well maintained. It has the essentials for a week stay. Communication with the owner was easy and I'm sure that if we needed anything she would be quick to respond. The only negative is that we found the bed to be uncomfortable. Not so much that we couldn't sleep though. We would stay here again. Thanks Ritamarie!
