About this cabin rental
Located just two miles outside of Custer city limits, you will be enveloped in breathtaking views at this unique-luxury, log cabin home. Distinctive fairy garden landscape will entice you to never want to leave; but if you choose to venture out, you are only 3 mi. to Custer State Park, 6 mi. to Sylvan Lake, 7 mi. to Crazy Horse monument, 21 mi. to Mt. Rushmore and 36 mi. to Reptile Gardens.
Lofted, Master suite provides tub, steam shower and gas fireplace. comfort galore with king aspen log bed. Now features an adjustable, Tempurpedic bed with dual controls. Second bedroom has king pine log bed, tv and shares a Jack & Jill bathroom with third Queen bedroom. Fourth bedroom is a twin/over full log bunk and kid friendly. All mattresses are new, luxury comfort. Half-bath is located on main floor, off a fully equipped kitchen with coffee hutch for your convenience.
Somehow the VRBO program has added an amenity of "Hot tub" to our description somewhere, which is not true. We have never had a hot tub and want guests to clearly understand that. We are working with VRBO to correct that mistake and evidently, that is more difficult than expected!
Guests are welcome to use pantry items, spice cupboards and frig condiments.
Note: we now have AC and furnace for your comfort! Traditionally, log homes are not built with either and have always been heated with electric cove heaters.* We ask guests to not use a cove heater at any time. We have taped over the cove heaters to help guests remember not to use them. Another advantage to living in the Black Hills: very low humidity and typically, the evenings cool off to "chilly". We recommend bringing cozy hoodies.
Laundry, WiFi, land line and 4G cell reception, which is an important detail in the Black Hills. Direct TV service provides movie channels for rainy days. Chimnaya and wood supply on main deck. Our wifi is very strong and provides opportunity for catching up on work. Pets are not welcome, but children certainly are!
Our Grill is on cement deck, (there are 5 decks, each with a gorgeous view!) Beautiful, custom built blue-stained pine dining table sits in front of the wood fireplace with a grand view of the Black Elk Wilderness.
RV bay (18'x24') is available to protect your motorcycles or campers. An attached two car garage provides convenience for everyone.
When making a reservation request, please include your phone number, home address and a little note about yourself. We like to get to know our guests! Be especially careful to provide a phone number that receives text. We also recommend that two people in your party keep Robin's cell phone number handy. That way when one phone gets locked inside the cabin, you still have a way to contact us and get the codes again!
We are very responsive to communicate with guests. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know immediately. Robin responds promptly and wants to do everything possible to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Please don't wait until you are checking out to let us know that you have a problem.

We stayed here last year and loved it. Our employees reached the yearly goal again so we treated them to a nice cabin and side by side rentals. We will be back

We celebrated a sibling birthday with 4 couples. This property is secluded yet close to many of the Black Hills must see treasures. The house was tastefully decorated and had all the needed amenities. The main deck has amazing views. The owner was responsive and accommodating to our needs. We hope to return.

We had a great stay and would love to visit again. The home was very comfortable, tucked away in a quiet neighborhood and had everything we needed.

Our family loves everything about this house! This was our third time in this house and I hope not our last.
The location is perfect. It takes 5 minutes to get to town but sitting on one of the many decks you feel like you are deep in the woods.
We have stayed in 2 other houses in the area but this house is by far our favorite!

Overall, our family of 6 enjoyed our stay. It was private and surrounded by nature, yet only 5 minutes to town. The kitchen was well stocked, and the beds were comfortable. We saw deer and turkeys around the house almost every day. The garage came in handy for parking the car and storing bikes.
The reasons I gave 4 stars on accuracy of description and 4 overall is due to bedroom setup. We wished the primary bedroom was more private, and the 4th bedroom had better window treatments.
We will consider staying here if we are ever in the area again.

I can't say we were surprised, because the listing details and photos for this home are very accurate--- but we were all pleasantly pleased when everything was even nicer than we anticipated. The location is fantastic. Close enough to town to make quick trips for food or supplies, but nestled away on a quiet dead end road with nothing else in sight. All the Black Hills sites are within easy driving distance, and our group of 4 (ages 64-77) thoroughly enjoyed being able to relax in our comfy cabin after a day of touring. Not one negative about the entire experience.

Planning on exploring The Black Hills region and The Badlands? Book this incredible property near Custer as your home base. It is ideally located. It offers quiet solitude, comfort and privacy after busy days exploring. You can hang out on the deck off the living area, read, sleep, or just soak in nature. Enjoy the fire pit or just plop in the reclining sofa and enjoy some TV. The beds are soooo comfortable and the house is quiet providing a great nights sleep to refresh you for the next day!
The kitchen was wonderful and well stocked if you choose to prepare your own meals. If not, there are great restaurants ten minutes away in Custer.
Our host, Robin, was incredible. Great communication and quick responses, a great sense of humor and wonderful recommendations.

This was our last stay on a ten-day road trip and I can honestly say we saved the best place for last. This cabin is incredible! From the peaceful quiet to the zero light pollution and the rock gardens outside. Inside the cabin is GORGEOUS and my personal favorite was the shower that doubled as a steam room! Robin was amazing as well and I’ve already told her we will be back!

This property is EXCELLENT! It's located on a quite lot at the end of the drive. The house is clean and so comfortable! It has everything you need. Plus the many decks are just lovely with beautiful views in every direction. We enjoyed this place while also traveling around the area to all the great attractions. The beds are also so comfortable! Strongly recommend!!

We had an amazing trip to South Dakota! The host of this property will respond quickly. She met our travel needs and provided us an extra day because we arrived so early! We were able to explore the parks a day earlier than expected. The property is first class and beautiful! We had coffee in the morning out on the deck when we realized that you can see Crazy Horse from here! A set of binoculars confirmed what we thought. The location of this beautiful house is close to Custer State Park, Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore. The town of Custer is worth walking around and exploring the shops. I would love to find a property like this for all my traveling adventures! Honestly, I think this place would be hard to beat and I highly recommend it.

This cabin is magical! The views are breathtaking! It is quiet, tucked away in its own wonderland on earth. Walking through the cabin, my children were awestruck, all I heard was "wow! wow! wow!" when we first arrived and caught our first glimpses of this amazing cabin we had the blessing to call home away from home for three days. So much heart and soul went into every detail in this place, through and through. The garden is paradise, and the gate welcoming guests in is absolutely gorgeous! I cannot praise the beauty and pure tranquility of this cabin enough. Wish we could have stayed forever. Thank you to our gracious host!!

This is a beautiful log home in a beautiful setting. The pictures on the website don’t do it justice. The home is unique in architecture and design, and everything is top-notch. One could run out of superlatives trying to describe it.
Not only is the interior first-class, but the owners have created an outdoor paradise with beautiful rock walls and walkways. Scattered throughout the property are rocks from the area, including quartz, agates, and other colorful gems. Be sure to walk the property around the house.
The location is perfect, especially for those interested in the Southern Black Hills and Custer State Park. It’s secluded, but very accessible.
Robin is very helpful, always available and responsive, and dedicated to making sure her guests have a wonderful experience. We have found our “home” in the Black Hills for future visits.

Wow! Beautiful, large, remote location but still close enough to town and to easily travel to Black Hills attractions. We loved sitting on the decks, both night and day. It's dark enough to see the stars and quiet enough to hear the coyotes. The land is gorgeous ... surrounded by the beauty of granite stones and tall ponderous pines with pinecones in the long grass. Love that smell of sunshine on the pines.
The cabin is just as delightful as the the outdoors ... large rooms, very pleasantly decorated, good supply of cookware, cooking appliances, dishes, etc, VERY generous on supplies, a lot of spices, seasonings, salad dressings, condiments, a thoughtful layout, comfortable beds, a large abundance of good towels and wash clothes, washer and dryer. Everything we needed was provided. There's a couple of minor flaws in the layout but it's just makes for good conversation starters and shared experiences :-). That fairy garden is enchanting! We love the bridge from the second floor to the hillside! Our 3 year old grandson adored the bunkbed room with the toys. His mom had packed toys for him, but I don't think he used any of his own toys at all. The only bad things was when it all came to an end. None of us were ready to leave. Thanks for providing us with great memories.

I rented a cabin to come back and relax in after out riding motorcycles in the heat all day. Talk to the property owner to confirm they had central air before I rented it and was told yes the cabin had central air . Once I got to the cabin in South Dakota found out the central air thermostat read SERVICE and the central air was not working. The central air was not working. Had to leave a day early. With 90° weather and no central air That is not what I paid for.

Stayed a few nights with family at this wonderful cabin. Short drive to Custer, Custer State Park, and Wind Cave. It was beautifully appointed, with clean linens and towels. The house was wonderfully spacious for the 6 of us, and exactly as described. It is nestled in a beautiful pine forest and was very quiet. All amenities were there and worked great. The owner was very easy to get in touch with and we never had to contact for any issues. Definitely would stay again!
