Freshwater village offers a good selection of small independent shops, cafés and a leisure centre with an indoor swimming pool. The magnificent high chalk cliffs, rolling downs and delightful beaches at Freshwater Bay and nearby Compton Bay attract many visitors and surfers all year round. The Freshwater Bay Golf Club, which overlooks the English Channel has stunning coastal sea views from most tees and offers a superb day out for golfers of all abilities, whilst the area is a haven for birdwatchers, and walkers with many wonderful walks to be enjoyed not only on West Wight but across the entire Isle of Wight criss-crossing over a much varied island landscape. Locally, Afton Down, the location of the famous 1970 Isle of Wight Music Festival, and Tennyson Down are the most popular walks.
A further feature of this property is that it’s able to provide storage for bicycles and sports equipment. The island has become a real hot spot for cycling enthusiasts with a choice of challenging off road bridleways, peaceful byways and level, purpose-made tracks running along the former railway line close by. Cycle to the famous Needles landmark at Alum Bay with its coloured sand cliffs and chairlift to the beach or take on the full round the island route which is 66 miles long, and is used for the annual Isle of Wight Randonnee. Travel along the route at a more leisurely pace and along the way, you will find numerous restaurants, pubs and cafés, amongst the quaint villages and towns serving tasty local produce. A little further afield Cowes is well-known by sailors who come from all over the globe for Cowes Week, the Round the Island Yacht Race and many other sailing events. Whatever you decide, one thing is for sure, the Isle of Wight has plenty to offer. Beach 500 yards. Shop 350 yards, pub and restaurant 150 yards.

What an absolutely marvellous place! It is in a gorgeous location with views over Freshwater Bay and a 5 minute walk down to the beach. The place itself is well and insightfully equipped - having enough plates, glasses and the like not to have to put the dishwasher on after every meal feels like home. And lots of hooks and thoughtful additions to make it feel as if one has a place for everything even if only for a few days. And the decor is beautiful with some lovely design quirks that make it a place to hunker down in as well as a base for beautiful walks to the Needles and the like. And the welcome basket was ace too! Great to be able to have a cuppa on arrival and having oils and condiments was another thoughtful touch. The owners have clearly taken great care to make the experience as joyful for tenants as it is for them. I couldn't recommend more:-)

Moonbeam House is an amazing property. The interior has been designed to the highest quality and everything that you need is available. The additional measures due to the pandemic ensure that you feel safe and secure. This is an ideal base for a holiday on the Isle of Wight, whether you wish to travel over the whole island or spend the time in Freshwater.
