Own room- clean bathroom
Walls to thin- heard everything from others
Too far out- I should have checked better
Kitchen seemed not fully equipped

To be honest nothing. I didn't feel helped having to text and being able to speak to a human.
While I was understanding about not being able to check in early when it was time to check in (I arrived at the space at 3:30 for a 2pm.check in) I was directed to a different location and was directed to enter a room that appeared to still be used. I took pictures and text the Guest House because that was the only way to contact them. They said " A cleaning person would prepared to clean my room in an hour"
The Booking.com description doesn't adequately describe that it is a room with only access to a shared bathroom and locked by an actual key not a digital lock. The only space I saw was the "new" room they directed me to not my original reservation. It felt very unsafe and didn't feel secure like a hotel would. An actual person from the Guest House did call me because apparently my original room WAS now ready (approximately 4:30pm) but only after I spoke to 2 separate individuals from Booking.com and was told falsely told I could cancel, get a refund and they would help me find a new reservation.
The Guest House denied Booking.com's request for a refund and were no help. The last person I spoke to (approximately 8:30PM) suggested since "it was now late that maybe I should just stay where they have room and then later complain and maybe they'll issue a partial refund"
I was so disappointed in both Booking.com and this sketchy property.

The photos are deceiving. It seems like a nice well kept place but the house is very old and the furniture is very cheap and uncomfortable. There isn't room to put your belongings in you have more than a small backpack. To check in before 3pm is $30 even if it is 2-2:30pm. Late check out is $30, and bag storage is $30. There is no customer service or staff to help with absolutely any accommodations or issues. The neighborhood is sketchy and unsafe and there isn't anything around in walking distance. Frankly, I checked in and left shortly after even though it is non refundable it was worth paying to book another place. I paid only slightly more for a significantly nicer place so if I had done more research initially it would have paid off.

The room itself was decent with plugs everywhere and the aesthetics of the place was nice.
This place provided us with the bare min one would not expect from a "guest house". No shampoo, conditioner, or body wash. No wash cloths. No coffee, no tea. I had to sleep on my travel neck pillow because the pillows were amongst the flattest I've ever had. All the couches were stained. We literally stayed in the dining room the entire time. It was okay for one night but I would not stay here again. There are definitely better places to stay for the price we paid.

Nothing
False representation in the booking.com advertisement that there were 4 beds - 3 bedrooms and a pull-out sofa. There was no pullout sofa. Further they claim that the living room is a 'common' area and there is a camera pointed at you while you are inside the unit, Not just outside the property but inside you rented residence. We were not able to stay in the place because there were not enough beds. They did not offer any solutions other than to leave whcih we took. I have not yet seen a refund. Also during the booking, we chose 4 guestsand we paid for 4 guests, but the technology showed it as 2 guests and Villa Duibois made it my issue to resolve with booking.com. A horrible expierence all around.

I can’t say I liked anything about it.
We got scammed into paying for an extra person because on their end it only said “1 guest”. I paid 150$ for a room in a hostel LOL. Ridiculous. It said shoes off at the door, for the floors to be disgusting, but I wasn’t getting charged for wearing my shoes so I walked around the nasty floors in clean socks. So gross. There was no view out the window. Nothing was cozy. WE can definitely say this was top 2 worse traveling stays we’ve experienced…

Staying at Villa Dubois was one of the worst experiences. In our last night, new guests arrived and they had a party in the common areas. There were around 10 people coming and going, listening to music, shouting, drinking and smoking weed. They even opened the door of our room. We tried to contact the host multiple times in the lapse of 4 hours, with absolutely 0 response. We called 911 but they told us that if we were not the owners we could not accuse someone of trespassing. We were not able to do anything because the host was not responding and because when we asked the loud guests to be quiet, the screaming and jumping intensified. The screaming and music stoped until 5 am. The next day, I was able to speak with the host only via the housekeeping lady. I explained the situation to him and he said that all he could do was report the loud guests to booking.com. I told him that we had felt unsafe and ignored when we tried to contact him multiple times. I asked for a refund of that night and he started behaving extremely rude. He said that I had payed for a shared space, and that if I didn't like that I should go to a hotel next time. He has security cameras installed in the common areas, yet he offers not warranty of safety and ignores all attempts to ask for help. He is not capable nor willing to be a host of a shared space or any other kind of lodging. I told him that those guests had violated all rules and he said he didn't care. I felt incredibly humiliated.

Quiet clean
The lack of soap and shampoo

Close to store. White Sox are bike ride away. Staff was friendly. Refrigerator in commons. Bathroom was nice.
Room locks could be improved. More cleaning supplies should be on hand to help guest maintain the house during stay.

None
Can't pick up the phone and hard to get into contact with manager

The place is nice, but u in one house with strangers. It’s no locked gates and they was shooting when I left. They took my money as well and I didn’t stay due to safety reasons.
The place was unsafe and anyone can be in the house with you. It’s offers one shared bathroom, but it’s a whole house you sharing with strangers.

Great neighborhood, perfect location!
No complaints

I loved the location and how it was up to date and decorated (:
It was almost cleaned but things were left from the last guest

Loved how comfortable and stylish the place was.
Not being greeted on arrival by host. Was difficult to get into the property as had to text passport details for code to get into property. As I had an international phone could not text the host so had to wait outside the property till other guest with US phone could contact the owners for code to get in

There was no breakfast provided. The place looked clean as far as living room and even bedroom. There was a light spot or two on comforter.
I didn’t like not having direct contact with a person. The other guest were not respectful of quiet time. They were up in the middle of the night slamming doors. Some even with loud conversations. I also Didn’t like other people having access to entrance. You never knew when it was closed or closed properly. Also needed more towels for my stay. And leave cleaning supplies around for people to clean up after themselves. Especially after a shower. Since it’s shared.

Great location. Not far from downtown, Sox's field, Shopping centers, Rec Centers, very comfy
Parking, Restroom amenities (towels, soap, toothpaste). Lot of time people forget those things or book last minute.

Clean and comfortable. Awesome decor

Although it is not a scam, avoid this place.

The place was clean and modern.
The guest house is shared with other guests, no prior warning was made about this. Everyone arriving was surprised it was more like an "Air BnB" than even a guest house.
The reception is COMPLETELY REMOTE, only able to message documents and required check in information over text. No option to even CALL the management if you have an issue. We were waiting 30 MINUTES after check in time to receive details on how to access the property.
Distance from the centre makes it cheaper to get a slightly more expensive hotel and not have to spend money on Ubers/train.

The layout of the apartment was nice but once you started to look into things you get very disappointed.
First of all the price of this place is just ridiculous for how poor the stay is. TV automatically shuts off at 10pm even though I paid for the entire apartment. You can hear everything from the upstairs apartment and the walls are super thin. There was left over trash from previous guest that they didn’t clean. Signs all over that said no shoes which we followed at first until we saw how dirty the floors were (I only brought white socks and they turned brown). They have a camera in the living room that they don’t disclose about until after booking or at least I didn’t see anything about a camera when I was booking and it was non refundable after. They ignore you when you bring up your concerns. I texted the number on the wall that said to text when checking in and I sent them the pictures of how dirty it was. I didn’t receive anything until on booking I got a message to checkout before 10am on our last day. Then I sent them my concerns and still haven’t gotten a response or refund for my cleaning deposit. We enjoy and love coming to the beautiful city of Chicago but I would highly recommend staying away from here and finding another better priced and more comfortable stay.

clean, comfortable, en suite bathroom (the other rooms don’t have this)
en suite bathroom (the other rooms didn’t have this)

Nice bathroom (I had a private one).
Access:
Initial access was very difficult, with an entry based on receiving access codes by text promised 15 mins before check in time, which for me did not arrive until later in the day.. I had to chase for it by texting, however its disconcerting to get automated replies promising a response in 24 hours if you are stood outside with your bags. During my stay I met a few other guests who could not get in or had issues with door locks once in.
I recommend having plenty of charge on your phone and make sure you can use a US mobile network.
Ants:
Although the place was clean there were little ants walking around the living room and kitchen, that may be usual in summer in houses in Chicago and they were little, but they may bother some people.

Cleanliness
Like a lot of people said, it was very frustrating to get a hold of the owners when we got there. Said we would
Have a code 15 minutes before 3 pm and didn't
Recieve anything until I had to send multiple texts saying I'm going to cancel the reservation and call my bank to block the charges. Got in the room about 335ish.

I didn't like it at all!!!
the worst experience of my life, an hour away for them to give me the code, you can't sleep because you feel everything, at 4:30 am they knocked on my door, another girl had given her my room too... there's nothing itchy at all the house is full of cameras… Terrible experience!!! and the host treats you like a dog not like a guest

perfect Location for our trip .. spacious and comfortable
3.4
The Place was really nice.
I didn't like the fact that it's a SHARED room. Didn't know at the moment that I booked it. Didn't like the fact that there was no TV in the bedroom. Only in the common area. Didn't like the camera. There was a camera in the common area. Didn't like that the heat wasn't available to us. That night the temperature dropped and we couldn't get warm.
3.4
good location
We stood a really long time waiting to be let into the property. You knew we were coming but still forced us to add an additional deposit while standing at the door in the cold.
We do not think it is appropriate to place a camera in public places - we did not consent to that before booking.
3.4
Overall it was very clean and efficiently run. The directions were easy to follow and the check in process was simple. The room was clean and very well kept. There was lots of available street parking. I was really impressed with how well kept the place was and how good the service was.
It advertised free parking when that really meant there was available street parking. There was always enough space, but it felt disingenuous. Also, the bathroom was very clean and newly redone, but the shower door wasn't well installed and wouldn't stay closed, so I had to shower with the door open. The water pressure was also quite low. Also, the communication via text, while functional, was not very smooth. Also, make sure to read the fine print. I missed the directions of the check-in procedure and messed it up the first time (even though it was really simple). It was stated on the booking.com page, but was not high up.
