Especially for the price point, we were in love with the property, Pamela, and Ann! Everyone was super friendly, supportive, and the house had everything we needed! Thank you for the amazing stay, we had an amazing time!

Nalo Beach Cottage
Great location near best beach on the island.
House needs some TLC but had everything we needed and was satisfactory. Property manager & on-site caretaker were communicative & helpful when we had questions. Another great time in Nalo!

Secret Jungle Beach Retreat
This beach house comes with a lovely surprise of the living room's floor to ceiling windows backing up to an empty lot with lush foliage making it feel like a secret jungle oasis. The sound of the birds singing, and, the complete privacy of the trees was an added treat.
Location couldn't be better at the foot of the beach access trail. What a great find! Experience the "country side" living with all of the amenities of Costco in Hawaii Kai and Kailua town close by. Typically, we explore the island each day but we were so happy with our location that we just stayed put. Breath taking sunrise beach walks. Power white sands of Waimanalo beach, life doesn't get any better.

Very Nice property
Loved being in quiet neighborhood, short walk to the beach with all the amenities of home.

Fantastic beach house couple houses away from beach access. Couldn't ask for a better location that's on the locals side of the island. So many things to do, hiking, beaches, local food, but a great place to just relax and enjoy family time too.

Relaxing in Paradise
If you are looking to relax and enjoy time away from home, you could not ask for much better. The neighborhood is rather quiet, except for a few fireworks from time to time... unknown why that is the case in November. You are exceptionally close to the beach, within 5 minutes walk.
We could not have asked for better hosts, you always felt welcomed and part of the neighborhood, amenities are plentiful and privacy is respected and possible.
The only flaws we found were some leaking in the fridge (fixable), and the bed in the master was a bit uncomfortable, although this could just be preference as we are used to a stiffer bed.
Overall, this is a place we would love to visit again and again, it was really a wonderful and pleasant stay.

Left after 10 hours. PICS FRAUDULENT: Thoroughly read all reviews, but some gave 3+stars, so thought others were overly sensitive to bugs or had unreasonable expectations. Pics 16-yrs old at least. Refer to “We left early” Jan 2014 review mentioning pics were at least 10-yrs old. That was 6 years ago so imagine how much more rundown property is now. Most concerning is that there is no indication place was professionally cleaned or cared for in a responsible manner. BUGS: Killed 6 roaches in 1st hour. Says nothing of how many found throughout the evening. Even when caretaker came over to address electrical issues, I was killing them in front of her and she appeared unphased by their presence. No one should be expected to live with roaches, even short term. Other reviews mention roaches so DO NOT IGNORE as collectively reviews establish at least a 5-year span of it being problematic. My oldest lives on the island and with us for check in. Even though she is used to the tropical environment, she felt what we were experiencing was excessive. We were not comfortable showering, unzipping luggage, buying groceries outside what we picked up prior to arrival, or sitting on furniture. Kids were exhausted and had to sleep a little; however, I felt it necessary to stay awake all night to check on them every 20 mins to ensure there were no roaches on them and ensure the electrical plugs for the air conditioners were not overheating. At midnight, I finally tried to get clean up some. As soon as I turned off water, roaches came out of the bathroom sink. Shocking! Called owner immediately to give her notice we could not stay there with roaches. There were many other things that I considered assaulting to the senses, but roaches are entirely unreasonable. When kids woke at 6 am, we left. OTHER THINGS: Electrical is problematic as is the falling down shelves in living room, tattered kitchen cabinets, dirty carpets, and rundown bathrooms. Air conditioner units in bedrooms work well but virtually no air circulation in main parts of house. Descriptions of common areas being enjoyable in the evenings because of ocean breeze is yet another misrepresentation. Common theme among reviews - kept yourself busy outside the house and enjoy beach nearby, to tolerate a dirty, unsanitary, run down, space with roaches. I encourage owner to maintain regular, professional extermination services, professionally clean, remove hospital beds, and declutter. No one should pay for this.

Once my daughter and I got used to the noises (birds chirping early in the morning and birds settling in on the roof early evening) we felt at home and were able to rest. We felt comfortable having Anne on the property who was extremely helpful to the both of us and it was hard not to get attached to her pets! If we needed her, she was there. But she also was very courteous of our space and quiet time.
Pamela was kind and kept in contact to make sure our stay was comfortable. We felt the Aloha and will miss the calm walks in Waimanalo

We had an amazing 5 week stay in Waimanalo! Pam, the owner, is a great communicator and was very attentive to our needs. This beach house is simple and lives up to its name as a beach house. It has an open living room with a beautiful view of the backyard through windows and sliding glass doors. It is equipped with all the toys you will need to have fun at the beach for hours. The location couldn't be better....it is literally just a few houses away from the most gorgeous beach in all of Oahu. This is a prime location. It also has extremely high speed internet!!
The neighbor Anne, who is the on sight manager, was very friendly and helpful as well. It was nice to know she was close if we ever had any questions or needed anything. We had everything we needed for an amazing 5 week stay. If you are looking for simple beach living, this is a great place to stay.

Waimanalo
The property was only 5 houses away from the beach. Waimanalo beach is really long and beautiful but is on the windy side of the island. The drive from the airport can be done along the coast or over the mountains, and both routes have amazing views. Pamela and Ken met us to give us the keys and were very helpful. The house has AC in the 2 bedrooms and ceiling fans in dining room and living room. Backyard has huge trees. House is older but charming. Stove has 2 electric burners. Porch has propane grill. Kitchen is stocked with plates, pots, pans, utensils. With Shima supermarket a mile away, we cooked several meals. It is a great place to stay on the quiet side of the island.

Beautiful Beach location
Walk past 4 houses, on a super quiet street, and you are on one of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii. Boogie boards, surf board, beach towels, beach chairs it’s all there. Anne, the caretaker will point you to some local favorites and make sure you have everything that you need. Plenty of room for 6 adults. Don’t worry, if you forgot something it’s at this house.
4.3
Love the location
We enjoyed our stay very much. The house is located a short walk from the beach so it is very convenient. Both Pam, the manager, and Ann who lives adjacent to the cottage, are super helpful and friendly. Yes, the house does need a little bit of upkeep. The living room does not have A/C and it gets really hot. And yes, there were a few cockroaches crawling and flying around. :( Aside from that, we thoroughly and completely enjoyed our stay.
4.3
The house was nice, however it does need some TLC in areas.
We had a great time, Pamela was great and so was the manager, Amy. Check-in and communication was perfect. The house was a 1 minute walk to a great beach.
The house does need some TLC, and a central air conditioner, since it can get warm in the front rooms.
Overall we had a great time, and will be back!

Location was great...
The location of the house was great, close to everything. The beach is a block from the house. Nice neighborhood.
However, the house could be updated for the money that your paying. We are from the south, we run our central air 7 months out of the year. Even though it's breezy and no humidity in Hawaii it still gets warm in that house. The two window units worked well and kept us cool at night.
The house was clean so to speak, however not to our satisfaction. When you clean a house you should clean even behind the things people wouldn't normally use.
The lady Anne that lives on the property was great and friendly. She checked with us every morning and every evening to see if we needed anything. She gave us suggestions on what she would and would not do on the island. The kids loved her and her animals.

House needs lots of work, but....
This house is in an ideal location with great beach accessibility and proximity. The house itself left much to be desired and the wonderful on-site manager, Anne, had to contact a maintenance man for us on several occasions during our one week stay. (Toilet wouldn’t work, the hot water knob on the shower wouldn’t turn, no hot water in main bathroom sink, etc). There were several roach traps throughout the home which were off-putting for sure. The furniture was old and worn. All-in-all, for the money, we would not return to this house; however, the manager, Anne, made us feel completely at home and welcome. She allowed our children to feed the birds with her and she and I shared our love of animals. The grounds of the property were beautiful with the birds, geckos, cats, etc. Truly, if it hadn’t been for Anne’s hospitality, our stay wouldn’t have been nearly as lovely as it was. We stayed just down the street in a comparably priced rental five years prior, so we knew the area and what to expect there... unfortunately, the house itself just wasn’t very inviting this time. Our stay, however, was delightful regardless.

Location great. Cockroaches a little to much. On site manger was great and very helpful
The beach was very close and beautiful. We have lived in the tropics before so know about the occasional roach and giant centipedes but this really needs a bug control person to come once a month and spray. Not one day went by that we didn’t kill a couple large flying roaches and luckily only one centipede but. When those guys bite you are in trouble.
On site manger Anna was very welcoming and helpful.

Super location, comfy home, was perfect for us!

Over all the house is not to part need a lot of renovation
Thanks to Anne the manager she made us feel so warmly welcome did not know what to do to help us we had a lovely time. Also the house need a lot to be done the energy in the house is very good. In order to really appreciate it ,you need to have come previously to Oahu and have an idea how what to expect in this area. The beach is very near and superbe. The birds wake you up in the morning. If some really needed upgrade are done in a near future I would definitely come back.

We had a nice time thank you
The home near beach was not quite what I expected, 'old and tired'. However, Pamela was welcoming and helpful. John, 'caretaker' who lived on same property was also friendly and helpful.
The location was quiet and the proximity to beach was fantastic, just a few minutes walk.
The positives generally outweighed the negatives. Although I would not choose this place again, it did allow a slightly more cost effective stay in Hawaii (for our group with low Aussie dollar) while being near the beach. Thanks Pamela and John.
4.3
Quaint home on a quiet street near the beach
My family and I had a wonderful time at the home. Pamela and John were wonderful folks that really cared about our comfort and well being. The home is a bit older, which we were perfectly ok with, gave it some character, and was close to the beach. Waimanalo Beach is not a tourist beach, so there's plenty of space for everyone and it's quiet. It's all sand for as far as the eye can see, in any direction, beautiful. The house has boogey boards, beach chairs, coolers, and just about anything else you would need for an enjoyable day at the beach, and it's a 2 minute walk from the house. The house itself is older, but very well kept, and John keeps the lot clean. The birds are singing when you wake up in the morning, and again later in the day as the sun goes down, can't beat it. The area the house is in has a lot of vegetation, there really isn't a lawn, just big beautiful trees and a lot of greenery. As in any other hot environment, gecko's are everywhere, and there can be lot's of bugs, which Pamela mentioned to us ahead of time. In the two weeks we were there, we never saw or had any problems with bugs of any kind, in the house. Plenty of gecko's outside, which we found quite amusing. The two bedrooms have real comfy Queen beds and are air conditioned, the rest of the house has fans to keep air constantly circulating. We were there on vacation, so we didn't use the TV or the living room much, but the TV was pretty new and it had a good amount of channels to keep anyone occupied. One of the bedrooms has a modern desk, which I used quite a bit as I was working during the vacation. WiFi is excellent, no issues there. My family left about 5 days before I did, as I had to work. I was there during Hurricane Lane, and I have to say that Pamela was an outstanding host checking in at all times to make sure I was ok. To be cautious, she put me up in a hotel for the two days that were the most dangerous, and I checked myself out when the storm had subsided because I wanted to go back to the quaint home, that I had enjoyed so much. Overall, I can't say enough good things about Pamela and John. I would definitely recommend the home as a place to stay in Oahu, if you don't want to be in the middle of the city or surrounded by tourists. It's a 30 minute drive to Honolulu or Waikiki, well worth the trip and the scenic views.

Had a wonderful time
Location great ! House is fully stocked and lots of beach chairs and beach toys for the kids . Ate dinner outside every night . Pamela is very sweet and John is very helpful! Warning there is only AC in bedrooms so when it’s hot out spend most of your time at the wonderful beach !

A private house
Great place. Very close to the beach. Loved it.
4.3
Lots of potential, but not up to par.
The beach house is in a great location. Waimanalo beach is a beautiful beach and is only one minute walk from the house. The house is roomy and has excellent Wifi, great beds, good TV and lots of hot water. There is room for improvement in several areas, including removal of clutter around the house, poor driveway condition (with old car on site blocking parking space), second bathroom badly requires renovations, leaky taps, poorly adjusted doors/locks, uncomfortable sofa/chair in living room, jammed patio doors, no working electrical plug outside for electric BBQ, unusuable deck area, and - worst of all - cockroaches in the house!!! This house needs a lot of TLC to be up to par.
4.3
Good place for the right people
Pamela is an excellent host who is very thorough with information on the neighborhood, beach, activities, and house. She was super welcoming, accessible and responsive.
The location was perfect for us - just steps from the best beach on the island.
The house layout worked for us - 4 adults, teen, and pre-teen. There is a full kitchen with everything you need for cooking meals.
The house needs some repairs/updating. For example, roof leaked and sliding door doesn’t close (although on backside with a jungle so would be hard to enter). Pamela is aware of the issues and had plans to fix the roof.
The house comes with beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear, cooler, and towels!
The area is very lush and the bird sounds are like clock work in the morning and evening.

Pleasant Stay in Waimanolo
Our family (four adults and one child) spent a week at Pamela's house over Thanksgiving. Pamela is a lovely person to work with and is very helpful. The house is attached to the main house and you enter through a carport at the end of the driveway. The best part of the house is its location in Waimanolo, just a half a block from a wonderful beach that stretches on for miles! Pamela provides beach chairs, beach toys, boogie boards, snorkel gear and a beach cart to transport everything to the beach. The house is comfortable with great beds and LOTS of towels. Everything was provided, including plastic wrap and aluminum foil! A washer and dryer came in handy as well as a clothesline outside in the carport entry for hanging towels used at the beach. The house was pretty clean, but it is older, a little worn and could use some updating, but that didn't bother us. I missed having a private yard to sit in (the back yard is all trees and bushes), but there is a table and chairs outside in the carport entryway. It was great to stay in a semi-rural neighborhood instead of a hotel high-rise. There were chickens, cats, birds in the neighborhood and we enjoyed watching them.
We joked about the "feathered alarm clock", a large flock of birds that roost in the backyard trees and synchronize their chattering at 6 a.m. sharp every morning! We wanted to get up early every morning, and their consistency didn't waver! Along with the two bedrooms, there were two twin beds in the living room. We didn't need to use them, but there is the potential for 7 people to sleep in beds as well as a Pack and Play. Big walk-in shower in the laundry room/bathroom. Not many bugs in November and Pamela supplies bug control supplies as well. There were mosquitoes, but we used repellent on ourselves to take care of that. All in all it was a pleasant stay.
4.3
Beautiful beach; secluded! Home; not what we expected!
We own our own VRBO so I am very honest with this review.
GOOD POINTS: Close to beach; 40 min. to airport, lots of windows, towels and bedding were of good quality. Internet and TV great, AC and fans in both bedrooms. Pamela mentioned that it was a beach home and not fancy. Told her we are perfectly fine with this as the rate was good and as long as it was clean and beds comfy we were good. Home was cluttered with personal items everywhere. Bathroom cupboards were so full we used a small shelf space for our items. Hall closet jammed with clutter; bedroom closets full of bags; old pillows and blankets. Shelves in living area were cluttered with dirty ornaments and all cupboards jammed full. MASSAGE CHAIR shown in picture does not work. Hall closet was full of personal items as well. Snorkel and beach toys cooler and wagon were over turned and full of bugs and dirt. Patio area cluttered with dirty carpets and throw pillows. We moved some items around on patio area and picked up pillows to put in storage bin (out of weather and insects) we were shocked to see bin full of moldy; insect infested newspapers (they have garbage and recycle pick up every week?) Laundry area and 2nd bathroom was falling apart; shower was in bad repair; we fixed toilet in this area. All laundry soap containers and bounce sheets were covered in gecko droppings. Pantry had old food that was not sealed up and full of small ants. Bedroom fans and dining room fans were covered in dust (thick layer; not cleaned for a very long time) Living room one did not work. We made our best with this home; cleaned light fixtures ourselves; only used fridge and freezer for food (not cupboards) continually put out ant poison and traps for other bugs around patio area. Cleaned and organized her living room area and patio area and enjoyed our vacation on the beautiful island. We were saddened with the fact that this house has good bones and could be such a great VRBO! A little elbow grease and personal items cleared out; would When I spoke to Pamela about our concerns (last day) she seemed unfazed by clutter and bugs around home. We have a duty of property owners to make these homes comfortable and clean for our guests. Refund (cleaning) was asked for and received. I FEEL WE HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO HOLD OUR HOME IN HIGH REGARD FOR GUESTS. REMOVAL OF PERSONAL ITEMS; GARBAGE REMOVAL; CLEANLINESS AND MAKING SURE ALL AREAS OF HOME ARE IN WORKING ORDER IS A MUST FOR ANY VRBO.

Alohaaaaaaaaaaa
There are not enough words to describe how great this trip was. It is a nice cottage style home, something we Canadians are used to and we loved it! Pamela and Ken were fantastic. Pamela was an amazing host, she not only gave us recommendations on things to do, but also where to go for things that we wanted. Our group of 6 really had a wonderful time. No lies when it comes to location, from the foot of the driveway you look left and see a beautiful mountain view, you look right and you can see the beach through the walkway only 30 seconds away. When you walk through the walk way you feel like you're on a private beach - definitely the most beautiful beach on the island, and we went to all of them!
The house is very clean and the bedrooms were spacious with very comfortable beds. The sound of the birds in the morning reminds you that you are truly in paradise. The beach equipment was great, the cart Pamela provides came in handy for bringing our stuff to the beach and the towels were more than plenty.
Everything was close by - Kailua, Hanauma Bay, Chie's Luau, Waikiki and some of the greatest views.
I would recommend this to anyone - families, girls trips etc...
Pamela was always available if we had any questions and she even came to support us while we played in our Lacrosse tournament - Mahalo Pamela!
We were 6 women and we had an amazing time.
Much Aloha Pamela.
Thanks from Marisa and the girls!

Hawaii is beautiful, this house not so much.
The owners are very friendly and helpful. She made sure we knew we could call her with any questions or if we needed something. There were at least a gazillion towels which we ended up using and washing probably twice over. The bed I slept in was super comfy and she even had a hospital bed for grandpa to sleep in which helped a ton. She did clean up the house before we came, but the house really could use a deep clean to get rid of cobwebs and such. Also, it has a definite old smell which might be helped by new carpet or maybe just hard floors. I am an admitted germaphobe, so I had a hard time being comfortable in the house. We tried to keep ourselves busy outside of the house for the most part. I still have this place 3 stars because the beach nearby was amazing, they had boogie boards and beach toys for my kids, nothing in the house was broken, and the bugs weren't as bad as I feared. My kids had an amazing time, so that is what matters.
