About this house rental
Only minutes from downtown Tucson and the Spanish Mission of San Xavier del Bac built in 1692 lies this gem of a wilderness property in the Great Sonoran Desert. Occupying a site overlooking the Saguaro National Park, this Pueblo revival home is made from stabilized Adobe with walls that are more than two feet thick to keep out the desert heat and cold. Originally built as a small winter cottage for a family from Connecticut, this home is in the only place on earth where Saguaro cacti can be experienced in abundance. Bordering the Tucson Mountain Park and the Saguaro National Park West, the estate sits on 10 acres of pure privacy with immediate access to the park's walking and biking trails. While frequently visited by wolves and deer, as well as Javelina, Moutainside Place is only minutes from the Starr Pass Golf Club and Resort. As members of the club, guests who stay at Casa de Saguaro can have full access to the golf course as well as the resorts spa and pools including a lazy river.

I especially liked the Great Room with its panoramic view of mountains on all sides! The view from the pergola was sublime!

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was well stocked with everything. Beds were comfortable.
We had a great time. Loved the view! Gates Pass was beautiful and just a short drive away. Abby was great and answered all our questions. Would recommend this home to anyone looking for a beautiful view!

My husband and I stayed at this property with our dog for a winter retreat. The views of the nearby Saguaro National Park are amazing and the view of the city is beautiful at night. The front of the property had a nice fenced in patio for our pup to enjoy some sun and ensured his safety. There is also a near by trail head for hiking. The house is equipped with everything that you would need and has beautiful artwork throughout. We would definitely stay here again.

the property was really beautiful, real adobe Santa Fe style home with all you could ask for. Views, serenity, wood burning fire places (including master bedroom), and close enough to all Tucson has to offer but far enough away. We enjoyed this property to its fullest

This is our second stay at this fabulous home. Once again John and his team were incredible hosts. We appreciated all of their help in coordinating our trip with our unique requests. The house is perfectly located at the edge of the Tucson Mountain Park with plenty of trailheads right out the door. The views of the mountains and the city below are spectacular. As well, the house is stunning and a wonderful spot to relax and recharge. Again, thanks to John!

This is no corporate-owned rental property ... this is a home, with unique and comfortable decor in a true adobe house with incredible views over the saguaro to mountains and city. Access just down the street to hiking trails, yet not far from downtown, it was a perfect and comfortable stay for us and our dogs. Thank you to Ben and Jordan, and especially John, for answering my questions and making our stay so pleasant. Hope to stay again in the future!

Our family of five had an absolutely fabulous time here. Our two teens enjoyed hiking the trails located near the house on their own. The views are as spectacular as the night sky. The house is so comfortable and well supplied. Everything about it was easy. We enjoyed Saguaro National Park, the Mission and particularly hiking the area directly around the house. We especially enjoyed the pool at the Marriott on several afternoons. Our little one loved the lazy river and water slide there. Very highly recommend!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Saguaro, and look forward to returning! The property has it all: beautiful house and views, plus private location within walking distance of desert and mountain trails, yet short driving to downtown. The house and kitchen are well-organized and fully equipped, and the hot-tub was so relaxing. We also enjoyed pool access at nearby Starr Pass Resort. The owner and staff were very communicative.

With its dark sky and gigantic Saguaro cacti, this expansive property was the perfect refuge for us this winter. With a well-stocked kitchen and an easy drive to town, we had plenty of flexibility to explore Tucson or stay home and enjoy the property. The house is located near Saguaro National Park in Tucson’s Sonoran Desert. Management was responsive and welcoming.

Very nice property - close to Tucson, yet removed enough to feel you are on Vacation - beautiful house (and views), and very well appointed and set up for guests...! We would definitely go back!

Beautiful home fully equipped with high end linens, dishes and appliances nestled in the Tucson Mountains, but minutes from grocery stores, downtown Tucson and the Starr Pass resort. Easy access to an array of hiking trails too.

Saguaro Fun
Fabulous property. House is in top shape well decorated and very comfortable. Multiple few points to enjoy the Sonoran Desert. Very quiet great for bird watching and saw a few deer.
Nice plus is its close to the Marriott so you have many dining options there. It was also nice to use the kitchen and eat in and watch the sun set and the stars come out.

Adventures in Paradise
Once in a great while you find a place far from home that feels just like home. This is one of those rare finds. If you are planning a trip to Tucson and wish to be close to downtown but also want to be away from traffic, people, and long commutes then seriously check this home out. This is our second year at this house. The owner has created a sanctuary in the desert! He has mastered the art of quiet, understated elegance that mixes the Southwest experience with his personal aesthetic taste. John, the owner, is that rarest of hosts who sees beyond providing a house to rent. He will share his dining preferences, his local attractions suggestions, as well as his knowledge of Asian art. You will leave here with a new definition of vacation.

Spring break
Short stay but wouldn’t hesitate to come back for longer next time. Had one issue which was taken care of immediately with ample apologies. House manager was excellent and extremely helpful. Description does not do it justice. Kitchen well stocked which we appreciate since we like to cook, additionally grill well cared for which frequently isn’t the case with a lot of rentals.

Twin Hills
I can’t say enough about the house and location! You are in the wilderness (we had a Bobcat visit) and yet 15 minutes drive to downtown. The house is lovely (better than the pictures!), well stocked (we made dinners 2 nights), comfortable and classy. John the owner made sure we felt welcome and settled in.

Wonderful Tucson Visit
My husband and I have been coming to Tucson every winter. We decided to rent a VRBO this time since we new the location we wanted to stay. This was the best trip we have ever had. Everything about the house was as advertised, including the responsive and kind host. We defintely hope to be returning next year!

Beyond our expectations
Staying at Twin Hills Estates was truly the best home we have rented anywhere thus far. The views are stellar, the home spacious, inviting, FULLY equipped, beautifully furnished and decorated with lovely Asian art. The location is perfect. Five minutes from the best sunset in Tucson at Gates Pass and just minutes from town and the interstate. It is so peaceful and because it is a gated community, we never felt unsafe. We saw deer on the hills several times, sweeping Saguaros and many other desert plants can be seen in the lovely landscaped gardens and in the views from every window. We would most definiately come back here.

Beautiful Views
The property was set up on the hill. The views from each room were incredible. The only negative was that there were many items left behind by other guests in the bathrooms. Everything else was amazing. The property was clean. We loved the southwestern vibe of the home. I would definitely recommend staying here. The owner was very accommodating and understanding when our flight plans had suddenly changed. My family and I would stay here again.

Beautiful Home with Fantastic View
We brought our nieces (28, 30) to Tucson for a trip to the Southwest. This property really made our trip a joy with the feeling of a home, rather than a house. Sylvester met us at the door and introduced us to all the amenities. I was the only one that had seen the photos while booking and everyone was Wow'd! The photos represent the property nicely, but the real thing is even better. We all prepared meals in the well stocked kitchen, which was all part of the fun! The hot tub was a plus and the views are stunning. The location is at the top of a hill with access to a lovely trail and close to the Gates Pass drive through Saguaro National Park. Groceries are close and it was central to our activities of off-road RZR rentals and horseback riding. A memorable trip was had by all. Thank you John for making your home our home for a week.

Paradise in Pima County
I simply cannot express how wonderful this experience has been from start to finish. John the owner and Sylvester the property manager have been helpful ever since making the booking. Sylvester met us at check-in time to make sure we got settled.
First of all, if you want to experience the beauty of Tucson there simply cannot be a more beautiful place. The house itself is gorgeous and set up to make all guests feel comfortable and sits atop its own peak in a very private, exclusive neighborhood on the near west side of town. 360 degree views provide breathtaking sights from sunrise over the valley to sunset over the mountains behind. There are patios and comfortable chairs surrounding the house along with a wonderful hot tub. Pictures do not do this place justice - it is ten times better in person!
This property is worth every penny and more - do not hesitate to try it if you want true luxury - it is the most beautiful property we have rented on VRBO.

Luxurious comfort for your picky group and dog
Our family group from ages 20-81 plus our dog had a wonderful stay in December. The location on the top of a hill has beautiful views and feels “away” but close enough for Instacart, etc. The rooms are beautifully appointed all with views but are very comfortable for hanging out. My sons could bird and hike right from the house. I especially enjoyed the hot tub with the nightlight views. Mr. Akpat, the house manager, met us when we arrived, gave us a house overview and answered all my questions. This was so very helpful. The kitchen has a large island and is very roomy. I was sad to leave.

Wonderful remote house on a hilltop in Tucson
We had a wonderful stay, used the hot tub every night, enjoyed the stars and did a lot of great cooking. Kitchen is fantastic, outdoor seating on both sides, excellent wrap around patios and bedrooms and bathrooms in great condition. We would definitely stay again

Breathtaking views; extraordinary home
This is the best vacation home we have ever experienced. The photos don’t do the property justice. From the well-appointed kitchen, to the comfortable, spacious bedrooms , to the views from the great room and all points outdoors, the home is amazing. Also, easy access to Starr Pass Resort & to all activities there, and convenient to Tucson. I cannot recommend this home enough. Communication with John and coordination with Sylvester was excellent. We would love to come back!

This property is everything advertised and more. Little touches everywhere add to the welcoming feeling. It is clear that the home is cared for with love and attention to detail. A wonderful experience. Do not hesitate. Thank you John for your perfect hospitality.

Thankful for our wonderful, socially-distanced Thanksgiving!
This lovely home is nestled on a mountainside and has the feeling of being isolated, even though it is not. It has magnificent 360 views, some looking out into the mountainside and some looking at really cool desert vegetation. There are multiple places to sit and enjoy the outdoors, including a hot tub. The inside is a gallery of eclectic charm, showcasing art and furnishings that marry the colorful southwest decor with Asian motifs. The furnishings are comfortable and unexpected in a rental. They are antiques and art pieces from around the world and they give the home ambience and visual interest. The home is REALLY well stocked. There were plenty of towels and pillows. The kitchen, honestly, was better stocked than our own home. It had every gadget and gizmo that could possibly be desired in a kitchen. I don't enjoy cooking, but if you do, this home has EVERYTHING you'll need. The home was also very stocked with kitchen condiments, spices, oil and other necessities that you wouldn't necessarily want to buy while on vacation, but which sure come in handy when you need them. A nice surprise were the 2 wood-burning (with supplemental gas, if needed) fireplaces. The home has an ample wood supply and being from Florida, we really enjoyed the novelty of our evening fires. Our group had 2 families of 3 (6 total) and the kids are both in 7th grade. They loved the house and were a great age to be respectful of all the lovely art pieces and furnishings. We all enjoyed Saguaro National Park, which is practically next door and nearby horseback riding. We highly recommend this VRBO and hope to return someday.

Sublime serenity
John's home in the Tucson hills was everything we'd hoped and more. The property is isolated and yet very convenient for accessing all the things we went to Tucson to enjoy. Hiking, biking, downtown, Saguaro National Park, the Tucson Mountains.

Tony Party of Six (Nights 29-30 Dec 2019)
Our party was extremely impressed with the residence - spacious, fully-equipped, very comfortable, and nicely decorated. All raved about the location and views. The owner was extremely well organized and responded to queries promptly. Wish we would have had time to stay longer. We highly recommend this rental.
