Location
The breakfast was poor and just a self-service snack

The bed was pretty good, I had a good sleep fr
Genuinely was not expecting it to be someone’s house. Like, the “hotel” is a normal house with locks on the doors.

During our stay, the landlord is come to meet us by allowing us to move to the room on the upper floor on the second day so that we could have the bathroom on the same floor.
The landlord parked his car in the street on the 2nd day so that all the guests could park in the courtyard.
The cleaning lady gave us valuable tips on how best to get to Oxford.
In this accommodation “Gateway House” there are 4 twin bedrooms - 2 on the ground floor, 2 on the first floor. The shared bathroom and toilet is only on the upper floor. It is very uncomfortable for guests staying in the ground floor to go to the toilet at night. In the bathroom there is an unusual system for heating water: First you have to pull on the chute that hangs from the ceiling - that's how the boiler gets electricity. Then, when you press a button on the boiler, water immediately flows out of the shower. If the boiler is switched off for a long time, the hot water in the washbasin only flows after the shower has been in operation. How the bathroom works is not explained anywhere - neither in writing nor verbally.
The accommodation shows a clear investment backlog. The light-coloured carpets are dirty, with brown stains of unknown origin. The toilet seat is discoloured and toilet brushes rusty. For breakfast, this accommodation offers an indoor table with max. 3 seats. In dry weather you can have breakfast in the small garden. However, you have to remove cobwebs from the chairs yourself beforehand. The second table made of cheap plastic was not cleanable - it has certainly seen better days. The garden would look much better if the tall grass was mown or if the view of the neighbour's storage space was obscured. We didn't use the shared kettle in the kitchen at all for hygienic reasons. According to the landlord, it was only calcified - so "normal". The kettles in the rooms were clean.
During breakfast, the landlord directed us how long we could leave the orange juice on the table, which we did not find particularly hospitable.

Host was very pleasant and helpful. Bed was comfortable.
Wasn't what I expected as a B&B. Host does not live onsite. There is no home cooked breakfast. Individual rooms with shared bathroom. Communal areas not so clean. Carpet stained. Noise radiates between rooms easily.

It had a bed! It was close to where we wanted to visit. Pub round the corner for evening meal.
4 rooms shared 1 bathroom. No smoke alarm in bedroom. Only 1 smoke alarm on ceiling in downstairs corridor. Carpet in bedroom stained. Pillow cases clean, bedding and towels but actual pillow interiors stained. Stair carpet and landing carpet dirty. Stair bannister greasy. Double bed against wall so person sleeping that side had to squeeze between the end of the bed as it was almost touching a table then shuffle up the bed.
No staff there - contact was by telephone or email. Would not recommend this B&B - not what we expected for £81

Shared (not entirely clean) bathroom for all rooms, and no hot water during the stay. Room was a squeeze for a couple to stay in and the TV didn't work. Walls were very thin. Felt like a run-down student accommodation.

Location.
- no dedicated bathroom
- Thin walls, so no privacy in the shared bathroom or the rooms. I spent the night listening to someone snoring.
- The bathroom is occupied 90% of the time. I don’t understand who was it..
- dirty towels.
- Someone kept on waking up at night and moving around the house, making noises..
- If someone is having lunch in his room the smell will spread into my room too
- overpriced for what you get.

Nothing, the whole stay was awful
Run down house. 4 double rooms sharing one bathroom, wafer thin walls so had the sound of snoring and farting all night. 2am returning guests slamming doors and going up and down the creaking staircase.
Wi fi didn’t work
Pillows were gross
Blinds in bedroom broken , outside light shone into the room all night

The host was kind, he called a few times to see if we are all good, which was kind of weird but there is breakfast and parking.
The room was not up to expectations and the addvert is misleading, it didn't state there is private bathroom nor that the bathroom is shared but for each room there was a picture of the room and a shower which makes you think there is a shower in the room, unfortunately there is none. In the shared bathroom there is a bathtub in which you need to take shower. The rooms and the house also feel warred down, the bathroom wasn't clean, there was hair in the bathtub.

Location! Didcot is a good starting point for excursions in the midsomer murders area. The B&B location is also good in Didcot. Quiet residential area but still walking distance to centre with pubs, shops and supermarkets
I've stayed at many super nice B&B's through the years but this is unfortunately not one of them. Very cramped and only one bathroom to serve four rooms. It's worn down and a bit dirty. Breakfast is very basic with cheap stuff from Aldi. Seating area only has room for two people unless you can sit outdoors. Didn't see the owner during our 2 nights stay but the written communication was good!

The fact that the owner communicated well with me before my arrival and couldn't do enough for me.
The standard of the facilties was excellent and a range of breakfast cereals was very welcome indeed.
Lots of USB ports available for charging my electrical equipment was really good.

Home from home. Very quiet and peaceful. Love the fact you have access to the kitchen to make tea when you want. You can cook or heat up food or takeaway. Small conservatory i sat in with furniture to enjoy breakfast in the morning. Cereal, croissants.milk etc in fridge and in kitchen to eat. I've stayed here before and chose to come back again as its comfortable and large room is tastefully furnished and its such cheap price for all you get. Emma x
