About this house rental
This historic 1922 bungalow in the heart of Yachats village was restored from the foundation up, started in 2010 and completed in 2012. It's located at 362 W. 2nd Street and as the name says, everything is just a “stone’s throw” away. You’re just two doors down from Yachats’ State Park where you can whale watch, play frisbee, or wander down to the rocky marine preserve where tide pools and agates abound. Watch flocks of pelicans wheel by, as otters and seals peek from the surf. When the tide is low, you can walk all the way down to where the 804 trail meets the ocean at the Adobe, and from there it is just another short walk along the 804 to the sandy beach – seven miles of it.
Or, head into town, just two blocks away, where you’ll find restaurants like Heidi’s Homemade Italian and the Drift Inn or head down to the Wine Place for some fine wine tasting. Enjoy some of the many events held at the Yachats commons, or wander through the farmer’s market in front of the commons on a Sunday morning. If you have kids with you, you’ll find a playground just behind the commons with the best tree house on the coast. Just a block and a half from your doorway, you’ll find the Little Log Church, now a historical museum, or wander over to Toad Hall or Rain Dogs for some gift shopping. And for breakfast and the best locally roasted coffee, we recommend The Green Salmon, just two blocks from your doorstep.
If you want to stay inside, you’ll find retro charm and modern comfort. A wood-fired stove warms the living room, next to a sofa and two easy chairs and a bookcase full of everything from mysteries to classics. There’s even a piano for the musically inclined. One bedroom features a queen bed, the second, a king, four-poster bed, mood lighting and a faux fireplace for warmth and atmosphere. There's also a fold-out double in the den, so the house sleeps a total of six. The dining area seats 6 to 8, or head into the kitchen and enjoy the great view from the retro bar. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and entertaining, including a microwave. And beyond that, the den opens up on an incredible view through four large picture windows. Enjoy the sight of Cape Perpetua as the sun sinks toward the sea. Relax in the cozy sofa or armchair and watch TV or one of the many DVD’s on hand. There are plenty of board games and puzzles in the den as well. The bathroom is also fully remodeled with a roomy, tiled shower and bath tub (and a great shower head!).
This little gem of a house is a unique property. The historic Yachats village neighborhood comprises just a few square blocks, and this is one of the few remaining original bungalows restored to its former glory. Unlike many properties, no driving is required once you park your car! It’s great for a couple seeking a romantic weekend close to everything, for a family with kids looking for some easy, family fun, or two couples enjoying a joint vacation. It sleeps four comfortably in the first bedroom, two in the den, and two in the second bedroom (you can fight over who gets the king-sized bed). Whatever your requirements, give Stones Throw Bungalow a try, and we promise you’ll enjoy your stay.

Wonderful bungalow near the park, the rocks and the 804 trail. This home is well maintained and within walking distance of almost the whole town. We really enjoyed our weeks stay here.

We had a lovely weekend at the beach house. The proximity to the beach truly is a stones throw away!! My blood pressure immediately dropped when I got here and can’t wait to come back !! Thank you so much.!!!

Okay stay but was disappointed.
Based on the reviews I had my her higher expectations for this stay.
Property was dirty (mostly dusty) but also stains on extra mattress and fold out couch.
Grime/mold on shower doors.
No shampoo and no bath soap.
Lots of ants.
French press was old and needs to be replaced or just discarded.
Sofa bed was very uncomfortable.
The location was great! The house and floor plan is very comfortable, too bad they are falling down on maintenance…..

Yachats in Fall, YAY!
I enjoyed it by myself for 7 days. There was so much to do. The folks in town were friendly and helpful. My adult daughter, son in law & son joined me for 2 days and we loved it.
It is a cozy, quirky coastal cottage that brought back many memories of living on another coast. Do bring slippers with hard soles as the floor stays cold for awhile. It was so nice to have someone playing a piano again, what a special treat. Also, I left hearing aids there and they were kind enough to ship them to me.!!!!!! Great trip after Covid.

Great Location, Nice House
The house has a great location, just a couple minutes' walk from the beach and the tide pools, as well as a couple minutes in the other direction to visit town. Several other great beach areas are within 15 minutes driving.
The house itself is nice. The kitchen has everything you might need. There is a washer and dryer for laundry. We didn't have any complaints about the beds. The WiFi is decent. The water stays warm even with a couple of people showering in succession. I would stay here again without any misgivings.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the house. It’s been well remodeled, the location is fantastic and it has plenty of pans, mugs, utensils and even a slow cooker, but a few things kept me from giving it 5 stars. There was no oil or salt so if you want to cook at all, bring that stuff with you. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable, we found pizza in the couch right after we sat on it for the first time and there’s the normal early checkout of 10 since covid, but they want you to do laundry. If both beds are used that means multiple loads of laundry. As someone who’s not a morning person I had to wake up early to make sure we had time to wash and dry the towels and sheets. I loved the town of Yahats and the house, but probably wouldn’t stay again until 11 or later checkouts are then norm again.

Cozy winter stay
Enjoyed the would stove, playing piano and games and snuggling in for a good read. Cooking together and going for windy walks were additional pleasures. A cozy bungalow in a convenient location!

Cute as a Button
This vintage bungalow has been remodeled in a manner that keeps the charm, but updates the features. The kitchen was really fully stocked for a rental house (one of the better I've experienced), and the shower had plenty of hot water and pressure. The sunroom off the kitchen was delightful, esp. in the mornings. The king sized bed was firm, so if you like firm beds, this will be good. One suggestion for the property owner is to offer a bedtopper should guests prefer softer. It could be rolled up in the closet no problem. The owners communicated swiftly which was appreciated. This bungalow is well stocked with a ton of board games as well as DVDs. Netflix /Smart TV worked just fine for binge watching too during a rainy day. Location is also good- two blocks from the beach, two blocks from a great seafood resturant and market.

Yachats Visit
My wife and I spent a week in this home and enjoyed our stay. It's a very comfortable, inviting home on a quiet street. A very short walk to the park at the end of the street and a very short walk to the restaurants and stores. As indicated in the review, this house was restored and it was well done. My wife enjoyed the piano!
The VRBO review for this home says it all and I wouldn't disagree with any of it. We would recommend this home for anyone looking for a relaxing stay. We like the location because it's a fairly close drive south to Florence or north to Newport or Depoe Bay. For anyone looking for hiking, there are plenty of trails to take advantage of going south toward Florence.

home away from home
another incredibly relaxing and carefree stay. The location of this cozy home precludes the necessity of ever having to get in the car for a 3 day getaway. Beach walking and agate hunting are easily accessed and cooking in the kitchen is a breeze. If you forget anything, the store is a 3 minute walk away, as are most of the restaurants. Don't miss this hidden gem in the Gem of the Oregon Coast!

Great stay in Yachats
Very much enjoyed our stay at Stone's Throw and would definitely recommend to any and all. This was our second time in the city and the location is what we really liked about the home as it is very close to all of the stores, restaurants, and services that you would need while there.
Thank You,
The Flowers

Old fashioned character with all the comforts
Could not be in a better location! So easy to do peaceful days of walking and shopping and dining without having to drive! You can see the sunset over the Pacific if you step outside the front door! We cooked 3 meals and had everything we needed. Spent all our evening time in the sunroom...cozy! Beds were comfy and slept great! Very quiet street and enough room around the house to feel private. Owners were very responsive to questions. We don't live far away and decided this is our new home away from home. Feels like family! Highly recommend!!

Cozy Yachats Home in the Perfect Location
Cozy, comfortable, clean home in the perfect location. Walk less than a block to the state park and to the market, shops, and restaurants of Yachats. Very nicely renovated with plenty of living space including living room, dining area, open kitchen and separate tv/game/reading room. Private back patio and a covered front entrance provide comfortable outside sitting areas even in the rain! The owners responded quickly and gave me all the info I needed- very helpful. I am sold on this house and will schedule all of my future Oregon Coast trips around its availability. Couldn't have been better!!

Great place!
Lovely cottage with good layout. Very well equipped for cooking, with books, DVDs and games for entertainment. Small enclosed backyard perfect for kids to play. Walk to everything!! Place was very clean and very quiet at night. Oddly, no hairdryer, (and no small salt/pepper or sugar packets - bring everything if you plan to cook.). Comfortable beds. I highly recommend!!!

Darling cottage, clean and well stocked. Great location.
We loved our stay at the Stone's Throw cottage. It was clean and well stocked. The beds were very comfortable so we all slept great. You can't beat the location - about a half block away from the beach and the restaurants and store. We would definitely recommend it and would stay again in the future.

This was a lovely cottage to rent.
The cottage was clean and very well furnished. Everything we needed was provided for our stay. It is located close enough to the ocean but still close enough to walk to the market and the shops. The beds are comfortable with a nice quilt to keep you warm on the chilly nights. Would definitely stay here again!

Cute little cottage in nice beach town
The convenience to the beach, hiking trails and great restaurants were the main draws for us. The hosts have gathered a great DVD collection for those rainy days. The space is comfortable and kitchen stocked with a lot of utensils if you want to cook in.

Great location with everything you need for a fun, relaxing vacation.
Cute cottage, wonderful sunroom. All the amenities you could need. Comfy, cozy. Only improvement would be a second bathroom. Beds are comfy, furniture is too.

Cozy, comfortable place to stay
Our family of four plus 2 friends recently stayed for a weekend, and it felt like we were staying at a friend or family member's home. Great care was taken in the renovation and decorating of this older home. It was an overcast and rainy weekend, but all the windows in the south-facing family room made for a bright, cheery spot to hang out. The beds were comfortable and we loved the added touch of the electric fireplace and decorative lights in the master bedroom. The kitchen is well-stocked and the dining table is a great size for a larger group and for games. The living room is cozy and where else do you get to play the piano in a vacation rental?!
This was a quiet neighborhood to stay in, situated right in between the stores and restaurants of Yachats and the ocean. Yachats has a great trail system along the shoreline, connecting up with the trails in Cape Perpetua and other areas. We also discovered a boardwalk through a wetlands area a couple blocks away.
We are hoping to return someday and explore further!

Great place to wind down
This is our 3rd time here! It is homey, quiet, close to the ocean & to town! We really like the 2 sitting areas, well equipped kitchen, 2 stoves & 2 different places to eat inside. It's always clean & everything is well taken care of. There is a pride of ownership & the decor is tasteful :)

Stones Throw says it all!
Updated and well provisioned little cottage. Curb appeal (gopher mounds and rust) a little off putting. State Park just 1/2 block down the street, grocery store 1/2 block the other way. Yachats has galleries, trails and restaurants galore!

Great location and space
Within walking distance is the coast, a grocery store, a brewery, multiple restaurants, a bakery and a cafe that serves full breakfast and lunch. The space is warm, welcoming and includes all the amenities you could need. Thanks for the stay!

Charming Bungalow near the coast
This is a cute, comfortable place in the coastal village of Yachats. It's within walking distance of hiking and great coffee and food. We had great weather, but if it was storming it would be a great place to hunker down. The owners respond quickly to inquiries and promptly returned our damage deposit after we checked out

Cozy, comfortable, and well-stocked home in a fabulous location.
We had a lovely stay at the cottage. The location is absolutely wonderful; both the beach and the market are about a 2 minute walk away. House was well stocked with everything we needed - plenty of dishes, pots, a LARGE coffee pot (welcome change from the last few places we've rented), and even a crock pot. We only used the regular beds so I can't speak about the sofa beds, but both beds were comfortable. I'm sure there are fancier places in Yachats, but for the price this place can't be beat - it was perfect for our family and we're looking forward to another stay here.
