Welcome to Birdhouse!
Birdhouse nestles in mountain property with long-range views inside a quiet gated community. It is a 3-story log cabin with hardwood floors and tongue-and-groove ceilings, enjoying copious natural light and many spaces to enjoy mountain views. This house has 4 sleeping areas and 3.5 bathrooms.
*Allows pets with an additional fee paid after booking. The fee is $35 per pet per day.
Birdhouse has beautiful stone fireplaces and wood pieces throughout. A spacious banquet-style dining table will accommodate your entire party. A family room/den with a fireplace and game room is downstairs and equipped with a pool table, bar-style seating, and mini-fridge.
Both king sleeping areas have private ensuite bathrooms. The two queen bedrooms upstairs share a full hallway bathroom. Bedrooms have HDTVs and fans for your comfort.

- Birdhouse is located in a private community. Guests are asked to be respectful of the neighbors. Sound travels in the mountains, so please be mindful when enjoying the outdoor areas.
- There is a countywide noise ordinance in place after 10 pm.
- 4WD or AWD is highly recommended.

First, I wanna say that we really enjoyed our time at this property.
For the good: The home was clean, cool, plenty of space where everyone had their own privacy, pretty stable WiFi considering you’re in the mountains, enough hot water for showers, and a great deck everyone could sit outside on comfortably. And location! It is in the most perfect location, close to everything we wanted to do any explore.
For the bad: The main reason we chose this property was for the “long-range views” as specifically stated in the listing of this property. I wish I could upload a picture but the trees are so over grown that there are NO long-range views. It’s been over a year since we’ve been to the mountains and we were really excited about this only to be extremely disappointed and dissatisfied. I understand trees and foliage are gonna do their thing and grow, but if you’re gonna promote a “long-range view” in your listing then it needs to be accurate. Some much needed trimming needs to be done to those trees. Last thing, the beds were rock hard, it was hard to get a restful sleep. Even my husband who enjoys a more firm mattress woke up each day with back pain.
However, at the end of the day we all had a great time.

We love the location. The view from deck is awesome. The house is beautiful and very clean. We really enjoyed our stay during Graduation weekend. It's less than 15 minutes from Appalachian State University. Very convenient location.

The cabin has a great layout and is well appointed. It has enough communal space but also areas you can retreat to for a nap or reading a book. The driveway is an adventure. All in our party were adept in four wheel drive and mountain driving, but it was an intimidating climb. The only complaints we have is that the hot water tank made ALOT of noise when taking a hot showers and there weren’t any real checkout instructions. Neither of which would prevent us from returning!

This beautiful cabin is just like it’s pictured! Lots of space (we had 7 adults and 2 dogs) and we were never tripping over each other! Definitely need a SUV to get up the winding steep driveway (but you are up in the mountains)! Great place and would rent again.

Scheduled a short getaway while our adult children came to town for a visit. This was the perfect place to relax and spend some quality time as a family. Beautiful property, the house was warm and inviting and the deck was amazing! Ultra clean and felt homey. Appliances were top notch and great for making a family meal. We were in NC for a family wedding in Boone. This home was a great location to the event and many other shopping, hiking, and other activities. The house is just as it is listed. A bigger car is needed to tackle the driveway, which is mentioned. We had everything we needed to cook and stay in when we wanted to. Pool table and the large selection of books were also a hit.

We stayed at Birdhouse during the move in of our daughter to her first apartment in Mountaineer Village. She is a sophomore at App and the family came along as a mini-vacay and move in support. The house was beautiful, clean, and the kitchen was very well stocked for all of our needs. The house is close to App and downtown Boone so very easy to access all the area has to offer. Birdhouse was open to our daughter’s dog for a few nights but we found that walking the dog was challenging with the slope of the property and minimal yard space. The driveway was definitely steep for our sedan and mini SUV (Nissan Rogue).Other than those minor issues, the house was perfect!!

This house was perfect for the whole family with a nice large deck with plenty of seating and grill. 3 stories so everyone had their own space. Kitchen was well stocked. Pool table was a big hit as well! The leather furniture throughout the home was SO comfortable and very aesthetically pleasing. Thanks for sharing your home for such a reasonable price!

The cabin was beautiful and the perfect get away to steal away with our family. It was quiet and removed but still within very reasonable distance to grocery stores and places to eat. Hiking and fishing spots were in abundance and easy to get to.

Absolutely wonderful experience at a beautiful cabin. I only wish the listing mentioned that the gravel driveway is very steep. It was not easy for me to drive up in my front wheel drive car after a big rain. Thankfully, we had 2 cars between the 5 of us and the other car was a Jeep. Aside from not wanting to make the last turn of the driveway, our experience was wonderful.

A true getaway, yet just minutes from Boone. Cozy cabin with not one but 2 wood burning fireplaces, one of which is just off the game room. Had no problems with wifi or satellite tv! Well equipped kitchen for home chef! Will book again!

Loved our 5 night stay in this cabin. Very clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. A new wrap around deck has been added that wasn’t shown in the photos….a nice surprise! Amazing views. We spent lots of time sitting out on this deck. Bed are very comfortable and kitchen has everything you need. Driveway could be a problem in the winter without 4 wheel drive. It was a great stay! The properly did not disappoint. It was clean, well maintained, spacious and everything worked. The internet signal was good, had great water pressure and the beds were comfortable. The location was great BUT the gravel driveway is quite steep for a regular vehicle and there was no traction. We got stuck and we ended up packing at the bottom of the driveway. Other than that we had a great experience.

Beautiful home in a great location!
This house is amazing!! You can tell it is professionally cleaned before and after each stay, the house was immaculate. Kitchen was well stocked for cooking meals. The bed room descriptions were accurate with 2 king suites (both with private bath), and two queen bedrooms (one with an additional daybed) on the top floor with shared hall bathroom. The bedrooms were all large and spacious. One thing that is not mentioned in the description and was a pleasant surprise was that the homeowners recently added a new, large outdoor deck that overlooks the front of the house and has Adirondack chairs for lounging. We had a great time sitting out there with a cup of coffee in the morning! The main level seating room was so cozy and had comfortable furniture with plenty of seating. The pool room in the basement level was so much fun!
Location is fantastic and in a gated community. About 12 min drive to Boone and major grocery stores, Walmart, etc. 25 min drive to Blowing Rock and 25 min drive to Grandfather mountain.
The gravel driveway leading up to the house is steep. But we had no problem driving our two front-wheel drive sedans up to the house (granted, we stayed in the summer. I would say 4WD is required in the winter months).
Overall, a great place to spend 4th of July weekend. We would love to stay here again in the future!

Hidden treasure
What a spacious and private house only minutes from Boone! The house is nicely furnished and has everything you need to enjoy cooking in but it’s an easy drive to dine out. Very comfortable, clean and nice Mountain Views. We will stay again. It is on a steep grade but we were prepared. 4 wheel drive vehicles and good shoes do the trick.

Tree Top Getaway
We had a fun and memorable stay at the birdhouse. We spent a lot of time together with our family. We recently found out a family member was diagnosed with a terminal illness and they requested we take a final trip together in the mountains. This location was the perfect fit for this request. We did have a learning curve to mountain driveways, we are flatlanders and accustom to flat roads near the beach. We were able to enjoy looking / listening to the mountains and wildlife (deer) while sitting on the deck and outdoor seating around the birdhouse. I would also like to note the fantastic internet service here our son was able to stream all of this shows. Thank You for allowing us to stay at the birdhouse.

Amazing mountain home
My family and I had a wonderful stay! Please note that the house sleeps more than the listing says. You can reference the photos for the correct amount of beds, but there are 2 bedrooms upstairs, 1 on the main floor, and 1 downstairs. We had ample room and thoroughly enjoyed the game room area! The house was clean, check-in/check-out was easy, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We hope to be back soon!

Wonderful house for a holiday!
We spent a weekend at this very spacious and lovely home. The kids loved the pool table and we enjoyed the views from the two balconies. Everything we needed was provided. The gravel driveway is super steep and winding, however so be prepared.

Mountain Getaway
We recently stayed at the Birdhouse for our first trip since the pandemic. We enjoyed a nice family getaway. We were a little upset the house wasn't in the cleanest condition upon arrival, but Carolina Cabins rentals immediately said they would send someone out to clean the home again. The house was in a great central location of everything we had planned during our trip(great restaurants, tubing, shopping).

Family Fun
Our family really enjoyed the Birdhouse! There was plenty of room and found myself in front of the fireplace staring out at the views of the mountains around us. There were roughly 8 to 10 deer right outside the bedroom window. We did receive 5 inches of snow and we were able to go up and down the driveway. (With caution) I would NOT suggest trying in anything other than a 4 wheel drive or All wheel drive vehicle. It was not far from Boone and roughly 20 minutes to Sugar Mountain. We hope to visit the Birdhouse again.

Excellent Vacation Home
This home is really 4 bedrooms and it is wonderful. Well equipped and very comfortable. The setting is so serene and the home is perfect for multiple families. The driveway is a bit tricky to navigate, but I wouldn't let that deter you from enjoying this home. The location is ideal. Hop to Boone very easily and also visit to Blowing Rock and Banner Elk.

Great mountain cabin
The house is beautiful and comfortable, and is better than displayed in the photos. The only issues we had were (1) no hair dryer and (2) the propane tank for the grill was empty, so we had to pivot on dinner. Overall, great house.

Lovely 4 bedroom cabin
Birdhouse is listed as a 2 bedroom cabin but it is actually 4 bedroom. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs both with queen beds. One of them has a daybed as well. There is a shared hallway bathroom for the upstairs bedrooms. The main floor has the master suite with a King bed, walk in closet, full bath with whirlpool tub and shower. There is also a balcony off the master with beautiful views. The main floor has a large living room with fireplace, half bath, kitchen with gas stove (loved that), large dining room with a balcony and beautiful views. There is also a nice gas grill on the balcony. The bottom floor has a second master suite, pool room, bar and second living room with fireplace. It was a very lovely property and we enjoyed our stay. The drive way is very step and unless you have 4 wheel drive you won't get up it in the winter months. We were there in there summer so a front wheel drive was no problem.
