Hotel pool was amazing! Staff were very attentive to our needs, offered great recommendations for restaurants.

This hotel was our favourite part of our European vacation!

We loved this hotel! Absolutely stunning. It was everything we had hoped for and more. The view was SPECTACULAR, the room was lovely, the staff were exceptional. I have nothing but wonderful things to say.

Great one night stay

Location, restaurant views and hotel facilities are great. Breakfast & coffee were exceptional. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the concierge went out of their way to give us recommendations and transport schedules. Room and bed was v. comfortable as well. Welcome drink was a lovely touch.

For a hotel of this caliber/rating, it's unacceptable to have black mold in the shower. Stayed for one night and only noticed it in the morning, would hope the hotel takes care of this for future guests.

We got a greeting worthy of royalty by everyone including upper management. The rooms were small but nice and clean. The breakfast was well prepared and served in a room overlooking the water. We found the cocktail bar to be overly expensive; we would avoid it going forward. We had dinner in the glass enclosed area outside the entrance; it was ok.

Iconic location but dated rooms; lake view room a must.

Iconic location with a picture postcard view onto the lake. Lakeview terrace for cocktails, with flowering vines/ shade pergola made for a pretty scene, relaxed and atmospheric. Pool was a rare find in Varenna. Bed linen was clean, crisp and pristine; bath towels also perfect and smelled great! Bed was firm(appreciated) and we slept well. Quiet. Good toiletries, fully equipped bathroom with a nice big shower. Happy to lounge in the bath robes & slippers provided and sit on the balcony admiring the lake…. complete with elegant swans swimming by. Relaxing lakeside was exactly what we came for and was the highlight for us. The complimentary little electric shuttle bus to the train station was excellent and saved us dragging luggage through town over cobbled streets in crazy hot weather. Did not dine in the restaurant but their cappuccino coffees were excellent. Fresh baked goods available around the corner from the hotel.

The decor of the guest room was disappointing; it seemed to belong more to a generic economy hotel… with vinyl chairs, mass-produced laminate furnishings. Dated, dark. The exterior spaces are definitely better. I work in architecture & design so this was especially disappointing for me. The room itself lacked a sense of the romantic, historic Lake Como personality, but open the balcony doors and THEN you know where you are. Without a lake view room we would have been very unhappy.

Amazing stay in a beautiful Varenna hotel

The location in Varenna was stunning. The view and hotel in general was beautiful. The staff were lovely. Our room was large with a balcony overlooking the lake. It was really special.

I am being picky here as the hotel in general was amazing. The air conditioner in our room was really noisy and inefficient. If was hot while we were there which meant sleeping with it on was not comfortable.

Very well situated in the city center, next to the cathedral. Nice restaurant with the lake view. Amazing jasmine wall at the bar area next to the swimming pool!

wouldnt come back, staff helpfulness let the hotel down

room size, view and location all really good

staff cannot be bothered with any questions, dont really offer help and when we arrived late (late is 9pm in varenna) and wanted something to eat they emphasised we cannot have from them and they dont know wher we can eat. this lack of help happened several times when enquiring about shuttle etc (ie reply was ‘check again at 7am’) lastly, despite booking a suite, aircon makes an awful noise every 5 minutes…for the whole trip

Outstanding facilities and breakfast.

Stunning and luxurious. Lake views are heavenly. City view rooms also exceptional. Extremely helpful staff.

So happy we chose to stay here--beautiful, convenient, comfortable, and lovely staff.

We had a wonderful stay! The room had a beautiful view with a little Juliet balcony overlooking the lake and was very well decorated and seemed newly redone/fresh and clean. The room was fairly small and lacking in storage, but it was still quite comfortable and wasn't a problem for us. The bathroom/shower were great, and the a/c worked well. The hotel staff was wonderful, very friendly and always available to help with questions or special requests. The pool/garden restaurant/bar area was beautiful--overlooking the lake and full of flowers with plenty of places to sit. Photos don't do it justice! The food at both restaurants was great, and the free breakfast overlooking the lake was a huge bonus. The shuttle to/from the train was wonderful (even though it's only about a 10-15 minute walk). And the hotel has a great location, on it's own little bustling yet less touristy little square, and less than a 10 minute walk to the main walking path along the water and the ferry station. This is the best place to stay in Varenna, and one of the best values in all of Lake Como. We're very pleased we chose to stay here and would love to stay again!

The room is slightly smaller than expected, but the view and decorations made up for it. Also the bar area by the pool was great, but it closes a little early (10:30pm). Would have been nice if that was open later for a nightcap!
