A good place to stay in Reading

These photos show damp walls, broken taps and stuck windows.

I was so keen to leave so I left early for work. It made me appreciate my own accommodation at home a lot more.

Look at these photos they clearly show: The walls has damp on them, the room smelt of mould. The whole taps rotated when you tried to use them and looked like they were about to burst. The window couldn't be opened. The furniture had to be rearranged to find a power socket. The mirrors had police warning stickers on them warning of possible child abuse: It felt like the type of place that the government would house ex convicts in after they are released from prison. The man was nice who worked there, but the woman who served up the food kept speaking angrily in foreign languages. The egg with the breakfast was surprisingly rubbery and I was a bit suspicious about what cooking oils they had used.

friendly, helpful staff, value for money, free parking

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is clean and well-maintained. They also offered free parking, which was a nice perk. Definitely value for money. The English breakfast was good - exactly what I expected.

Some noise from the street traffic. Next time I ask for a room facing the backyard or use earplugs.

Nice and clean with friendly staff but very poor breakfast

Quite dated The full English breakfast was very sparse with just 1 rasher of bacon, 1 egg, backed beans and a hash brown. My friend told the staff that he didn’t like beans or the has brown and was therefore served an egg and 1 rasher of bacon

Great value from a family who put their customer first and go out of their way to make them welcome.

The accommodation fully met the expectation set by the description and photographs of simple accommodation, providing great value. What wasn’t expected was the warmth of the welcome, the kindness of the family running the guest house and the keenness to make our stay a pleasant one. Breakfast was spot on in size for us, with an English breakfast both mornings - despite us expecting continental breakfast to be served on at least one of those - and on both days we were invited to ask for more if we wanted it. The family even came to see us off - we couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome and valued in our stay.

The corner shower doors might be difficult for anyone of a larger size, as they didn’t open terribly wide for access. I also personally found the mattress a bit on the soft side for me.

Very close to the venue we were attending. Free parking at rear of hotel.

Dirty cups in room, looked like they had only been swilled under the tap. Mattresses too soft and lumpy, felt like sleeping on a hill? No hot water from the hot water tap.

This is a basic but functional guest house. The owners are friendly and happy to help. There is a really good breakfast, continental and cooked breakfast. Free parking and great location. 10 min walk to town. It's very quiet and the beds are very comfty. It's a little worn in places but for what your pay you can't expect loads. I had a shared toilet and shower, no issues and didn't have to que. N8ce having sink in the room

The location for centre is great

It was filthy, shared toilet was awful. Never experienced such a dirty place to stay. Never recommend to anyone

Room was freezing -7 outside and no heating on for part of the night. water leak on the toilet floor, host did apologise in the morning but no offer of refund

Very good

Location only short walk to town and Railway staition. The beds were like sleeping on clouds and with area so quiet , slept so well. The couple running it were so lovely and helpful .

Nice place for a short stay, close to the train station and bus stops down the road, rooms are small but comfortable.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were really comfortable and ideal for a short stay.

A small fridge would be a nice addition, to keep water and drinks cold.

Quite a small room but OK for price. Cooked breakfast was OK but would have expected a bit more on the plate. Hotel could do with a makeover.

didn’t like the facilities. payed for 4 nights stayed one night and asked for two nights to be refunded and I am still waiting for this refund….

It met my needs for accommodation at this time when needing to book somewhere at short notice

The bed was comfortable in a reasonably sized room, I was able to get a good night's sleep

The wardrobe could of done with a dust on top, the remote for the TV didn't work and the bedside lamp had no bulb :-/
