Best hotel in La Rochelle

perfect stay. The hotel is beautiful, well located in the center. Our room was bautiful, big and clean. I will go back!

Pratique commerciale inadmissible

Le supplément de 20€ pour animal de compagnie n’est pas clairement annoncé sur Booking. La direction refuse pour autant de faire le moindre geste commercial. Inadmissible.

Très déçue

Tout sauf le manque de personnel pour le petit déjeuner . Ce n est pas la faute du personnel présent :Il était impossible pour elles deux de satisfaire tous les hôtes en assurant aussi la réception . Le pain et les viennoiseries étaient congelés . Le manque de tasses , de places . Intolérable à ce tarif et dans ce type d établissements.

Great staff. Super location. Beautiful hotel

Staff were so friendly and so polite. Location was excellent. Just a short walk from shops and restaurants. Rooms are very comfortable and nicely decorated. Windows are so insulated, you wouldn’t hear a thing at night. Again must mention the staff, especially the receptionists. They were the best ever.

Jean Fossati made our stay amazing.

Beautiful period property with interesting history, an oasis of tranquility in the midst of the hustle and bustle of La Rochelle. Jean Fossati, front of house staff was exceptional, he was always polite, attentive and extremely helpful, he made the hotel feel five star. Superb breakfast quality and selection.

Nothing to complain about, perhaps a finer evening dinning selection/experience would be more suited to such a nice Hotel.

No mini-fridge in bedroom. This is useful to keep drinks cool to travel next day. 2 Minor Points: Outside Window Sills, by soft chairs could do with a clean. Basil Smash Cocktail not available, was looking forward to that. ☹️

Almost excellent

Good location for us. Much improved since we stayed there (as L’Angleterre) some years ago. Smart. A very good breakfast.

Some details of our room should have been better. The nice old wardrobe wouldn’t close properly. There wasn’t sufficient light near the close-up mirror in the bathroom. The sink emptied very slowly.

Lovely oasis in the middle of town.

Really friendly and helpful staff. Nice courtyard / garden area to sit in which was lovely and quiet in the middle of the town.

Some areas slightly tired looking. A corporate retreat group got very noisy late one night and the staff could have been a little more assertive in getting them to quiet down a bit so other guests coupe sleep (after 1.30am when they packed it in).

A beautiful hotel

Good value breakfast, and the hotel is beautiful. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for everything that La Rochelle has to offer. Parking in the underground public carpark is easy, nearby and a decent price

The soundproofing of the old rooms is dreadful. You can hear every word of your neighbours. And we had four children above us who sounded like a herd of elephants. But the hotel moved us (twice) and we’re apologetic. If you are sensitive to noise, this might not be the hotel for you, unless you get a smaller room on the top floor in the new wing

Delightful stay - we will be back again

Stayed for 2 nights in December to watch a Rugby match. La Rochelle is a beautiful historic port and the hotel fits perfectly. It's an old building but typically French and you'll not be disappointed with high ceilings, panelling and architrave. The hotel staff were wonderful. The breakfast was great with plenty of hot and cold food. We travelled by car and there is a council run car park about 2 minutes walk away where the hotel has discount prices. Overall, delighted and we will come back again - in the summer this time. Or the Rugby of course.

Not a four star hotel but friendly helpful staff

The bed was comfortable and the breakfast selection was excellent. the outdoor area looked lovely. The check in assistant at reception was very helpful and friendly and did her best to improve our stay.

We booked a double room on line. it was on the street level, incredibly small and overwhelming stuffy. Windows opened but direct onto the footpath. I did not feel safe. There is AC in the room but ‘they turn it off after summer’!!! It is supposed to be a four star hotel! I asked for another room and we’re advised only one left - we upgraded to a suite called Quebec. It too was street facing but large and recently renovated (except for the bathroom which was old and tired and small). No lift to this level - we carried our own bags upstairs. It was a noisy room with street traffic, and early morning road works in the street.

Lovely stay, would recommend.

Lovely hotel, very helpful staff. They were happy to help accommodate 3 children in a suite with an extra bed, preventing us from separating as a family, which would have been a pain. Great location.

A fridge in the room might have been nice.
