Geweldig hostel met een fantastisch team

Mijn verblijf in dit hostel was perfect. Het team was voortdurend attent en heeft mijn verblijf echt aangenaam gemaakt. Ik heb niet de gelegenheid gehad om alle vrijwilligers persoonlijk te bedanken, maar ik wil hen hier hartelijk bedanken. Hun warme ontvangst en steun maakten echt het verschil. Ik raad dit hostel ten zeerste aan aan iedereen die op zoek is naar een verblijf in Essaouira!

Albergue genial en una ubicación genial

Quedarse aquí fue genial! El albergue está justo en la medina, por lo que es muy conveniente para explorar todos los lugares locales. El ambiente es muy relajado y el personal es increíble. Habitaciones limpias y un gran lugar para relajarse después de un día afuera. Me encantó !

Very loud...Couldn't sleep.

The staff were super friendly and smily. The place was well located.

This hostel is extremely noisy. I booked a private room as I know hostels are a little louder than hotels, but thought that the private room would give me a bit more respite. But the noise all over the place echoes everywhere - you can hear EVERYTHING!! This wouldn't have been a very bad problem, however some guests (and it turned out it was one of the volunteers as well!) were making huge amounts of noise at 3am, 4am, 5am. I talked twice to the hostel volunteers about this, they told me they also were affected by the noise and had spoken to the people being disrespectful...but it kept happening anyway. I'm not sure why the guests don't get told when they arrive - "please be respectful and mindful of noise during night hours because it's very loud here". It would make things a lot more pleasant. I had to leave the last night and book somewhere else to stay because I wasn't able to sleep (I wore earplugs and a scarf round my head!!)...I asked for a discount for my last night but I had no response or acknowledgement of the email I sent.

Nice location, room was decent size and the price was good

Didn't find anybody at first when we came, had to go find the guy on the rooftop. Had to ask for towels. Bathroom was very small, no soap. Beds are uncomfortable, unless you like sleeping on a plain wood.

Book double room only!

Location was good, not too far from shops, restaurants etc.

Only book double rooms, twin rooms have no decent air ventilation between the bedroom and bathroom, no lift, weak WiFi connection, very quiet after 9pm. No toiletries i.e. shower gels, soap, toilet paper (buy from shops independently). Towels were given only upon request. Best to bring your own. More of a hostel than a hotel.

Good value, ok location except for the cockerel next door

Hard beds. Hotel staff didn't tell me the breakfast price in advance, and not written anywhere. Then attempted to charge 100dh per person for omelette and salad, which is double local prices.

Host Tarik was amazing guy. Cooked amazing meals. Felt more like a community than a hostel. Would definitely stayed there longer if not for my flight

Superb

I had a good time at the Youth Hostel. First of all, don't expect luxury accommodation when you book the most affordable hostel in Essaouira. But what you do get is an always good-humored, always helpful and warm-hearted operator, Tarek. He is a real local and can give you tips on everything and is always available for a nice chat on the sunny terrace. Thank you very much and best regards!!!

- the Location was really great - we could use the kitchen with everything that was there - really nice rooftop - the room was big with a couch - there is possibility to take breakfast/lunch/dinner -Tarek is really nice and super helpful with everything, very communicative!!

I am really sad that i cannot give a better review.. You get what you pay for, its nothing special - the mattresses where so hard, felt like concrete.. - the hot water did not work very well, it stop in between and we had to wait 5 minutes until it got warm again.. really anoying - the smell in the rooms is not good and there is mold on the walls as well..

Tarek is the best host in Morocco

We were meant to stay for 4 days and ended up staying 1.5 weeks! The man organising the place, Tarek, is amazing. He took us to all his favourite spots, took us to fish markets to buy fish and then he would cook them for us. Was really an amazing experience and I will recommend that people go to Essoueira purely to visit this hostel. Thank you for everything Tarek!

Wholesome relaxed stay with beautiful people

We had a wonderful time here. Tarek became like family to us, he took us to beautiful hidden spots in the medina including a beautiful sunset spot. I also took a cooking class with him which was so much fun and I learned a lot about traditional cuisine and some secret techniques from his Grandmother. We would have family dinners on the beautiful rooftop with nice views over the town.

Affordable, cosy, friendly!

It wasn't easy to get there, as the narrow streets, but it's in the Medina. The owner is very nice, easy going, would be up to help with anything, same as other workers there. As I'm of the bigger guys, instead of a bunk bed in shared room he upgraded me to the private room with the shower. Room were very well equipped and nice, big bed as well. Decided to stay another night, asked to keep same room for same price and i was told i could stay, as there was availability. Really appreciate for the room, same as the help with everything. Also the ride to the airport. Sadly my flight got delayed for 8 hours and i missed another flight home. 🥲 but in general it's really nice, affordable and friendly place. Market on the corner, could buy anything. Would definitely stay again!

Really awesome, would come here again!

For me the Youth Hostel was the best choice, we could have made, before coming to Essaouira. As two young, female travelers it is important to both feel secure and comfortable in a place and everybody in this hostel made us feel this way. We had a two bed bedroom and our own little bathroom which was nice. The rooftop terasse is beautiful and you can enjoy the sunrise from up there (if you wake up early). We can only recommend to take a cooking class with Tarek Or try his homemade breakfast :) We spent many evenings up on the terrasse talking to the other guest from all around the world, you will have an enjoyable time :)

Only thing one could improve is reducing the humidity in the bathroom, because there were some moldy patches, but we already talked with the Tarek about it. Generally it’s important to be aware, that this is a hostel and not a luxurious riad, for some people a place like this does not provide the needs they want, but for us it was perfect and especially with those reasonable prices!

I enjoyed my stay in Essaouira, the hostel is nice and harmonious, it is located in Medina, it takes just few min to walk to the center and to the beach also. I met a lot of nice people there and among Tarik welcomed me with a warm smile happy to talk and show me around. It was such a pleasure to meet Tarik and we had a lot of fun...

Exceptional

Everything was perfect! I was so lucky and spend my time in a wonderful private room, with a comfortable bed and a good hot shower! Everyone was always nice and helpful and the Tajine was great! 100% recommended! If I ever come back to Essaouira, I will definitely stay in this hostel again!
