The hotel is situated on a hill with a good view of the tea plantations
This is not a 5 or 4 star hotel standard - firstly the road leading to the hotel is not a tarmac road, full of potholes and poor signage. Secondly, the hotel itself is in need of maintenance, there were large patches throughout the building that needed painting over including the ceiling of the bathroom in our room.
The hotel manager greeted us wearing a casual cricket shirt and lead us to his office through the staff quarters and kitchen to check in - any hotel should have a check in desk, especially one claiming to be 5 starts.
A number of things weren’t functioning well in our room - the fire alarm was beeping, one of the bedside lamps wasn’t working and the bathroom lock was loose. This indicates further that the rooms are poorly maintained.
The dinner was overpriced and lacked Sri Lankan positions which as tourists was what we would have liked to have. The wine list was very expensive with all 4 red wines priced at c. $100 dollars a bottle without an option of having wine by the glass.
There is no wifi at the hotel. This would have been acceptable if there was some entertainment offered at the hotel such as a bar area, card or table games or TV in the room. None of these were available.
The hotel price we were charged isn’t commensurate with the standards that this hotel offered.
The only positive thing was the welcoming staff.

the location is breathtaking
we visited in January and it was very cold and the property didn't have any heating system. we spent the night shivering then we checked out the next morning (two days early). also, the road leading to the property is very steep and not lit at all - quite dangerous at night. The website should have a clear warning about coming at night/during rain.

Dinner was surprisingly good as was breakfast.
Room quite big and nice.
Very stylish house.
Everything in room is dirty: bulk of hair in the shower, even black floor under the bathtub. Lots of died insects everywhere. Hairdryer in the room didn't work because of the age.
We asked for one more duvet but they don't have. Even 3 rooms were free and they could took it from there...
You have a bathtube but don't have enough hot water even for 20% of it.
Road to the hotel is real horror 2.5 km of road where impossible to pass even tuk-tuk. Better not to try in the dark.

Everything. I think it was the most magical experience to spend Christmas in the property. The staff were outstanding! I will never forget how well we were treated by Viji, Meenamma, Pradeeban and Faris- we miss you all very much! We had the whole place to ourselves on Christmas eve and felt like the lord and the lady of the mansion haha. Christmas eve dinner was excellent and we had the most beautiful french red. The hike from the estate was just wonderful too- followed by the delicious lunch at Meenamamma's rooms. Best stay ever! Highly recommend. I will one day come back for sure.

This is old plantation superintendent villa in total the property has 5 rooms. It is definitely worth paying extra for the master bedroom.
Note that this place is very secluded and far away from other places (Nuwara Eliya or Horton Plain).
