The Penthouse at Poipu Shores is the corner unit on the top floor, and is only a few feet from the ocean. Originally built for the developer, it is the largest condo at Poipu Shores (2200 square feet). Glass-walled, it indisputably has the most spectacular view of any property on the south shore - a 270 degree sweeping panorama of the southern coastline extending to the west, Niihau, and the central mountains, Mt. Kahili and Mount Wai'ale'ale.. The condo was completely remodeled and rebuilt and is extremely well-maintained.. The living room has a big screen HDTV, Blu-ray DVD player, and stereo system with iPod and MP3 connections, Blue-tooth speakers. Each bedroom has both ceiling fans and A/C (*see note in Amenities/Essentials,) HDTV, and wireless and hard wired free high speed internet access. The living room and the master bedroom open to the 40 foot long lanai overlooking the ocean crashing on rocks below - a perfect vantage point for spotting sea turtles, dolphins, whales, monk seals. Sunsets are beautiful year round. Guests will enjoy the dramatic, heated, ocean-front pool. There are outdoor barbecue areas, on-site parking, and elevator. On-site manager's office is open daily to assist guests.

One infant under age 12 months using a crib may be permissible with 6 adults.
PARKING: Parking is available for ONE vehicle per unit. Vehicle must be registered with onsite office and permit displayed on vehicle windshield. Additional vehicles must be parked off property. Onsite office will advise locations.
SMOKING: This is a non-smoking property. There are three designated smoking areas away from the buildings at the perimeters of the property. Smoking inside the units or on the lanais is prohibited.
BARBECUES: There are gas barbecues on the property for the use of guests. The use of portable grills, hibachis, camping stoves, etc. inside the units or on the lanais is strictly prohibited.
HOUSEKEEPING AND CLEANING: Light housekeeping services, including linen exchanges and supply replacement, depending on length of stay. Exit cleaning fee of $409.00 + tax for stays of a maximum of 10 nights. For stays beyond 10 nights, an additional $30.00 per night will be charged for cleaning.
DRONES: To respect the privacy of all guests, drones may NOT be flown anywhere on the property at any time.

We loved staying here & will stay again. Loved sitting on the balconey watching the whales, turtles & dolphins. Sunsets were anmazing. It was clean, a little worn but still a wonderful place to stay. Comfortable beds & maintence was on top of things. Close to everything. We'll be back!

You can’t beat the view from this property! The penthouse was spacious and provided beautiful views all the way down Poipu Beach and well beyond, not to mention the ocean being spread out before you. My only recommendation would be to provide some kind of blinds because in the afternoon the sun gets absolutely blinding. Overall, a great place to stay

We had a wonderful time! Condo was clean and convenient and has the best views! The property manager was very responsive and accommodating. The view is unmatched. We enjoyed watching whales, dolphins and turtles from the unit and lanai. Spacious, well laid out and perfectly finished, this unit was created with loving attention to detail. We stayed in January so no A/C was need, it even got a bit chilly on a few evenings which was fine with us. If I could have changed anything it would have been to have a memory foam king size bed in the master. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Great location close to the beach and a few restaurants. The views from the balcony are what you think they should be. You can see sea turtles from the balcony. I do recommend that you have the A/C turned on. It’s a little warm if you are not used to it.. I’d definitely stay again

This was our third visit to Poipu Shores…first time to this unit. Owner and staff were very easy to work with and responded quickly to our questions.
Unit was spacious and worked beautifully for our family(2 grandparents, parents and two young children). The third bedroom with trundle bed worked well for kids. Having a third bath was a bonus. The view is unmatched. We enjoyed watching whales, dolphins and turtles from the unit and lanai. Even on a very rainy day we were happy as we looked out from our unit. I gave the unit a 5 when compared to others at this price. A few minor suggestions include switching out the kitchen sink and garbage disposal, consider a/c for the whole unit, some new furnishings and kitchen utensils.
Overall, Poipu Shores is one of our favorite places in the islands. Mahalo🌺

We had a wonderful stay in Anne's Poipu Shores Penthouse Condo. The view is so amazing from the lanai, the master bedroom, the kitchen/dining room and the living area. Anne was very quick to answer any questions that I had. The staff at Poipu Shores was stellar. Always helpful with a smile on their faces. I would definitely stay here again. Mahalo, Anne!

Amazing View
The pictures don’t do it justice. Amazing view and the constantly crashing waves makes it even better.
If there is one knock it’s the pool for the complex. It drops off pretty quickly so you need some sort of floatie.

BEST VIEW IN POIPU, but- place needs serious updating
I'll start with the pro's of this place, and there were plenty. The view's from 406A are quite simply, ridiculous. Breathtaking views up and down the southwest side of the island. The sound of the ocean against the rocks echoing through the condo is a great thing to hear while staying here. The views from the kitchen are panoramic of the ocean, mountain and all of the "gardens" Kauai has to offer. The pool at this place is amazing, hanging over the ocean with countless turtles swimming below all day every day.
All of the cons of this place are annoying, because they are easily fixed. Firstly, this place needs updating in a catastrophic way. The furniture is surely late 90's, wicker style with glass that gets covered in a mixture of salt and humid air, and the white arm chairs are absolutely filthy. The L shapped coach smells horrible and feels grungy, and the outside patio furniture is very old, basic and not very comofrotable. Looking down at the neighbors below, with their new patio furniture made you wish this place followed suit. The kitchen appliances are also old and dated, the fridge has no cold water or ice dispenser and is fairly small. The oven door doesn't even close all the way, so the heat just escapes into the kitchen which heats up the kitchen. I reached out to anne to address, and she did say the range was already supposed to be replaced, but she's waiting on property management to install.
The beach chairs and cooler that were provided were also old and needing replacing. The cooler handle was broken, and fixed with red duct tape, and the chairs were rusty and broken. Anne also was attentive to those issues, and actually new chairs arrived the next day.
The biggest complaint by far came from my in-laws who we gave the master bedroom too. First, the mattress in the master is lumpy and worn, and like the queen mattress in the smaller bedroom, needs to be replaced, desperately. There are also no curtains whatsoever in the master, which i understand allows for an incredible view, but some people like sleeping past sunrise. Towels, shampoo and soap have a very motel 6 feel. Sample sizes only, and no more than 1 towel per guest was provided.
We had a great time on our trip and our love for Kauai is strong. I just feel like this place could easily be a 5 star stay, and i'm having to struggle with whether to give it 4 stars, or 3. Put a few bucks back in to it, get new furniture, new mattresses, and it's a 5 star place.

Dramatic oceanfront sunset views
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the penthouse apartment at Poipu Shores.
Location was perfect - a quick walk from Popui beach (and the turtles!) with stunning oceanfront sunset views from the large balcony. We saw turtles, whales and dolphins all from the comfort of the balcony.
Apartment is well appointed — shower and bathroom en suite for each bedroom, which was nice. Note that the third bedroom has a small bed and can sleep only 1.
Front desk staff were responsive and helpful. The condo complex has a great pool, which was heated (nice touch for winter). Dramatic setting of the pool was also fun — with waves crashing on the rocks below!

What a View
My family loved staying here. The best feature was being right on the ocean. I was going to rent something cheaper inland, but my family talked me into stepping up to stay here. The views were amazing. We saw whales, seals, and sharks without ever leaving the lanai. Plus beautiful sunsets and the moon reflecting on the ocean. And the sounds of the crashing waves were the best white noise sound machine for sleeping.
The unit came as advertised. A bit older and dated, but built with quality. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and we cooked both dinner and breakfast in the unit.
It was also a great location for day trip excursions all around the island as well as walking to the nearby beaches.

Highly Recommend
Poipu Beach area has such a chill vibe. This condo is just a 2 minute walk to many beaches and restaurants. We saw dozens of turtles every day from the balcony, whales, dolphin and seals. No joke! The sunsets are unreal and the sound of the waves are amazing!

Absolute best location, BUT…
The location of this unit may be the best on the whole south shore. Spectacular sunsets, huge windows surrounding the whole perimeter of the unit and unlimited views. Waves crashing on the rocks was like nowhere we’ve ever stayed. However, I absolutely wouldn’t stay there without 2 improvements.
The unit receives full, direct sun for several hours in the afternoon until sunset. There are no window coverings of any kind and no air conditioning in the main living area so the space gets unbearably hot even with the all the windows open and the fans on. While all the glass is a pure delight in the morning hours, there’s no place to escape the sun in the afternoon, except the 2 smaller bedrooms. After full days of touring and playing outside, we wanted to come back to a cool place to rest before going out to dinner. That simply wasn’t possible. All of the other units in the building appear to have window coverings and after talking with some of the other renters I found that they also had A/C. I don’t understand why the owner has decided not to have these amenities here. A/C should be added but I would say that at least there is A/C in the bedrooms (for $20 extra per night, which we definitely needed for sleeping). I would strongly recommend staying at Poipu Shores because the location can’t be beat. But until improvements are made to this 406A unit, enjoy your vacation by staying in another unit.

Poipu family get away.
Very nice property with fantastic views of ocean , sunset and crashing waves just outside the lanai. Close to beach and great pool on property. Very nice well equipped kitchen. Bedrooms have AC which I highly recommend in summer. Wish we could have stayed longer! Hope to go back in near future.

Our family experience
We have traveled quite a bit and rate the setting of this condo as the very best. In fact, this was our second time staying here. The condo is spacious and well supplied. It’s within easy walking distance to Poipu beach. We really liked the option for air conditioning, especially when sleeping. Only criticism would be that it could be cleaner (especially the kitchen area). Also, requiring pictures of our clearance from Hawaii travel regarding Covid exemption before getting keys added pressure to an already hectic travel day. However, that is understandable.
We would highly recommend this condo and location for travelers to Kauai.

Great place. Do not tell you it’s $20 extra a day for air conditioning in the rooms. But it’s worth it. It gets hot with all the window in this beautiful unit. The third bedroom has a small daybed . Does not fit a large person but does have its own bathroom. Pool is nice! Parking was adequate but a little tight for our large suv. Would stay here again!

A Perfect Week!
We have come to Kauai for years and this particular unit is our favorite. The views were incredible and the close proximity of restaurants, beaches, and a pool were a plus.

Spectacular Views But Issues
Spent Christmas week at this property. This condo is clean and well located (short walk to Poipu Beach) with spectacular views, right on the ocean. Kitchen is fairly well stocked with the basics and beach chairs, umbrellas and a cooler were provided. But we had issues. First, no hot water on the first day, which reoccured again later in the week. This was extremely annoying when it came to showering. Turned out the electrical backup switch to the hot water heater (solar) had not been properly turned on. Second, the property is advertised as having 3 bedrooms that accommodates 6 adults. The 3rd bedroom is a tiny office with a day bed that would comfortably fit a SMALL adult (not my 6'2" son) and the pull out trundle is even smaller and, when pulled out, filled the entire floor with no walking space. This 3rd bedroom is appropriate for a child, not an adult. Third, the refrigerator froze our drinks and food, even though we turned it down to the least cool setting. And fourth, the internet was spotty. We had to turn on our hot spots on our phones. We've stayed in several rentals through VRBO or Airbnb and never have had such issues. While we still made the most of our vacation, this property was not worth the substantial amount of money we paid.

Paradise Shoreline Condo
Wonderful place! Best views of any place we have ever stayed! Incredible sunsets! We did not want to leave. Sound and view of the waves rolling in was unmatched. Ann, the owner was a joy to communicate with and the on site management made things easy!

The view cannot be matched. The master bedroom is phenomenal. The second bedroom works great for two adults. The third bedroom was okay for the fifth adult in our party, but the mattress and bed seems better suited to a child. It wasn't very comfortable. I don't think it would work to have two adults in that room. We saw sea turtles from our balcony all day every day. Be advised that the air conditioning works ONLY in the bedrooms. You can open all bedroom doors and the ceiling fans will move some air into the living area, but it does not really cool down. During our stay, it was between 85-90 degrees each day and 85-90 percent humidity. We were warm! But the view made even that bearable! All in all, one of our best vacation experiences. We would definitely come back. (Probably during a cooler month!)

A great location
We had a wonderful stay! The view and balcony is stunning and we enjoyed watching the sea turtles and hearing the crashing waves in the evening. The location was perfect, a 5 minute walk to the beach where we snorkeled and body surfed. The condo was clean and spacious, ideal for our family of 6. Would definitely return!

Very disappointing!
Overall this place is OLD, uncomfortable and nothing luxurious like we had expected. The day we arrived there was no apology for a broken washer & dryer. Only air conditioning was in the master bedroom where we discovered cockroaches! A single elevator for the entire place and parking was very inconvenient. We felt gouged and very disappointed in that the lady, Ella, at the main desk honestly didn't give a hoot, like we should expect MORE? To pay top dollar for these accommodations we seriously considered leaving but we had prepaid. We will tell everyone we know NOT to ever consider staying here because it was awful. We were here to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and truly it was one of the biggest let down's of our entire trip. Thankfully we spent another week on Maui where we thoroughly enjoyed. Poipu Shores is woefully uncomfortable and very inconvenient all the way around!

Wow!
The property is clean, well-maintained, private, uncrowded and absolutely beautiful! The location overlooking the Po'ipu shore break is amazing. The view and sounds of surf crashing are mesmerizing, same for the beaches nearby that were fun and well guarded. The pool was fun and the people friendly. Although hot and humid, no air conditioning was needed due to the trade winds. The kitchen was fully stocked and allowed for well-prepared meals but there were plenty of very good restaurants nearby. All the facilities staff and maintenance personnel were very accommodating and friendly! Kauai is an amazing island with a wealth of things to do. All together,this was a great vacation spot!

Terrific condo!
I would highly recommend this condo. The view is awesome with really your own private blowhole that puts Sprouting Horn to shame. We spent hours on the terrace watching sea turtles and waves crashing. Furnishing and amenities were even better than listed on website. Owner and front office were terrific. Communication was easy and responsive. There was a power outage after hours in 1/2 of the unit and it was taken care of immediately by after hours manager. Mahalo Ann for sharing your condo.

We had a lovely stay here! The condo was extremely well maintained, very clean, well stocked. The office staff was great and helped us quickly with a couple of questions we had. Communication with Anne was great - she was so kind and helpful! The best part of this condo for us was the views. Simply amazing. Waking up, taking coffee to the lanai and watching the waves, the turtles, the beautiful sky! We spent all of our extra time on the lanai, it was fabulous! Having the corner unit was a bonus because it was quiet too. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!!

We loved the view from our condo, 406A. Place had enough room for our family of 6, with lots of windows & Lana’i space. Short walk to beach. Definitely would recommend this place if coming to Kauai.
