Nice place to stay

Friendly innkeeper who gave us a much needed lift with our baggage up to the carpark. A balanced location between slopes and heart of town. Clean and comfortable.

Carpark was a good 5mins uphill closer to the gondola. There will be times nobody at front desk or anyway to call for them. Hot water supply gets cut off a night, think ice cold water for washing hands after toilet trip.

Ueno Ski Lodge is a warm and comfortable traditional Japanese lodge that I highly recommend.

oved Uenoo Ski Lodge and the whole experience of Nozawa Onsen. The traditional room was larger than expected, warm and comfortable. The manager was helpful and friendly. It is a short walk to the ski lifts and into the main street, but separate enough to be quiet. A fabulous stay - thank you!

Excellent location facilitating skiing and onsen bathing

Excellent location, in the centre of Nozawa Onsen and about 5 minute walks away from the bus terminal and the ski field base. Close to various onsens and restaurants. We stayed in a tatami mat room, which had an ensuite (sink and toilet), despite other reviews indicating shared facilities. The shared shower and bath rooms (female and male) on the ground floor are nice and we had them to ourselves when we used them.

great value basic level accommodation in a fantastic central location

the owner Ueno-san is a fantastic guy who welcomes us with a smile and some banter every time. this is a basic level property with excellent value for money bang in the center of town. 1minute to main restaurant/shops/bars. 10mins walk uphill to gondola (good warm up distance)

wish the gear room was heated to dry/warm wet snow gear. also, wish there was a slightly cheaper breakfast option

location, staff, cleanliness, nice heater and warm room, mountain view, clean beddings.

pricy a little bit, needed more tea bags!! no breakfast included.

Cute low-budget lodge in a central area

We liked the central location and the warm welcome when we arrived late to the lodge. We also enjoyed the cooked breakfast in the morning.

We were told after we checked in that our toilet wasn't working and that we had to go down two floors to the nearest one. It was also odd how the shared showers were only available at certain times. The trash by the shared sinks were heaping with used tissues, and the beds were not very comfortable.

Great value but that's it

location was really good and staff were very accommodating. they do have a western style washlet toilet on the ground floor and a vending machine that also does hot drinks. Room was very spacious, easily fit 4 people. Had a TV, small but usable. lighting was good though and had a decent sized kotatsu table.

Found out there was a pin on the floor. tatami floor is worn out, bits of it always stuck on anything you put on the floor. hallway isn't heated and it's absolutely freezing. second floor only had Japanese style toilet. the kettle stinks of SWEAT?! could not clean it at all so decided now to use it. shower only usable from 1700-2200. hot water from tap limited and isn't on all the time even in the shared basins area.
