A very beautiful location, big rooms, delicious food, nice swimming pool. An easy access to Yala national park.
Our room was little dark, it was sometimes hard to see our luggage properly.

Although we regret booking here, the pool, comfortable bed and location were only positives.
In terms of value for money, this was our worst experience in Sri Lanka. Hospitality and food were really bad, and there was little to no atmosphere in the hotel over Christmas and Boxing Day. A few issues we encountered during our stay were:
- Poor introduction, we had to walk around and ask where the buffet was, where the restaurant was, bar, spa, how to find menus etc.
- Staff seemed very inexperienced, most staff that we asked a question/ordered food or drinks from were very shy and would often need to find someone experienced to assist. Honestly it felt like a lot of kids were working there and they didn’t seem very happy to be there. Fine for other budget resorts, but for the price Jetwing charge the hospitality should be much better.
- QR code in room was damaged so we couldn’t use it (needed for all dinner menus etc). We had to explain this to 4 people to have a new one eventually brought up.
- Waited 1.5 hours for dinner in bar when there were hardly any guests in there, food arrived undercooked and poor quality. The waiter ask how our meal was, so we decided to give honest feedback. Then instead of staff relaying the message to each other, we had to have the same uncomfortable conversation with the manager and then the chef, which was honestly not what we felt like doing after being in there for so long. Chef asked if we wanted free dessert, which we politely declined as we didn’t want any. Dessert was sent to our room regardless.
- Hotel felt generally unfinished and a little sterile, lots of maintenance required in various areas, and not much atmosphere. Seemed to be lots of empty areas especially around the pool which we weren’t sure what were for. Some music around the pool and a bit more life and energy around the hotel would be good.
- Overpriced. We enquired about ‘dune dining’ before we arrived and were told to ask reception when we arrived. When we arrived we were told the cost is $400 USD, which is crazy.

Great hotel near yala park, beautiful pool.
Elephant walks around in the evening by the hotel.
The road to the hotel is in poor condition and very difficult to reach unless you are driving an off road vehicle.

We loved the amenities. The staff were very friendly and always welcoming.
Other than the pool, there were no children’s things to do. Wish there was a playground.

A peaceful, stylish hotel with vast rooms and a strong eco vibe. The breakfast and dinner buffets were extensive and delicious, and the staff attentive. The pool was amazing - vast and shallow throughout, so that everyone could relax and enjoy the beautiful location, watching monkeys in the trees and the occasional cow walking the grounds! Enjoyed cocktails while sitting on bar stools in the water, which was bliss. It was lovely to be able to walk to the beautiful, deserted beach, too, with its dunes, and it all felt completely natural. Missed seeing the elephant in the car park, early one morning, but it showed that anything is possible in this hotel!
We liked it all!

Outdoors is beautiful. Pretty pool, on the beach and wild elephants stroll around in the evening sometimes.
Room smelled like mildew. We asked to change rooms and were told that was not possible. Instead housekeeping was sent to get rid of the smell, which essentially involved spraying big amounts of lemongrass oils to hide the smell. While it helped the smell it did not help that we knew there was mildew in the room and our request to move was not accommodated. I was shocked that they didn’t offer any discount or any way to make our experience better. The bathroom is a cement room which feels like a dungeon with zero airflow (probably what causes the mildew). Food in the restaurants wasn’t up to the quality we would expect for a jetwing or hotel of this rating. While there are many options, the food and experience was underwhelming. Overall the hotel is not worth the price and I would give it a miss. We much Prefered our safari experience and stay in Minneriya.

No mosquito nets over the bed!!!

Amazing beach. Beds are comfortable. Lifeguards at the beach were great!
Be careful with prices as they do not include any taxes / nor goverment fees. we were surprised our dinners and spa sessions costed a fortune when checked out as this somehow was not included in the price on the menus (35% on top of their prices!) Rooms full of ants. Booked a safari for two pax via the hotel (unfortunately the car truck broke down and we wasted an hour (out of the 4 hours) inside the park waiting for another car. sub driver kept asking what were our plans after yala and kept asking to arrange transportation to our next destination by calling his colleagues. Hence he focused more on calling around for taxis for us rather than focusing on the safari for us. Even though we paid more for the safari than the stay, the duty manager did not want to talk to us and sent us one of his line staff instead and gave us a mere 15% discount on the safari. totally ruined our experience. Better experience at Cinnamon for just for a bit extra.

Really well-maintained luxury hotel in great location. All of the staff made our trip special with special thanks to bar manager/ waiter Deshan, breakfast manager, Shamin and front office manager who went above and beyond to courier something to me. All of these things stand out and made the stay extra special.

Great location just outside the national park and on the beach. It's a lovely property with an exceptional pool. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and there was an excellent choice of food and drink. We had lovely massages in the spa.
The staff arranged a safari for us with an excellent guide and we were lucky enough to see two leopards in addition to elephants, crocodile, buffalo, peacocks, mongoose, deer and others. It was really special.
There was a slight hitch when the reception staff said that they were unable to change GBP to rupees. However, they sorted it out which was much appreciated.

The beach is breathtakingly beautiful.
Pool, sun beds & bar in good location, and so is buffet venue outside.
unfortunately the pool has many missing tiles & decking should be repaired & painted as many planks loose.
Outside balcony’s have limited furniture & could be painted and with added plants in planters. Overall building could benefit from updating.

The hotel is stunning! The rooms were beautiful, pool is the largest I've ever seen, the bathroom was stunning. Everything was perfect. The shower was AMAZING. Food was really good and great cocktails. For safaris, it seemed to be one of the closest to the main entrance, which was really convenient and saved time. The lifeguards were also lovely, they told us about baby turtles hatching, but unfortunately we just missed it.
We weren't told where everything was, so we kind of had to work it out for ourselves. It would have also been good to have been talked through different offers at the hotel i.e. dinner on the beach. Also there was no music in the evenings for dinner, I think a little something would be nice to create an ambience.

the location was amazing. Safely tucked behind the sand dunes and the strong wind and in the wilderness of yala, the beach was just a small walk away. food was delicious, spa so rejuvenating and the pool was one of the biggest I have seen.
the cattle poop near the swimming pool - the cattle on the property tends to come near the swimming pool grounds and they poop there - right next to where people are eating. no problem to have the cattle wander but the poop is a definite turn off
4.5
Fantastic property with stunning scenes even as you enter, and as you walk around = on a beach, near a jungle (national park) and with a few mountains in the background; Excellent night sky views when not cloudy
Swimming pool looked superb (but we didn't end up using)
Rooms are large and have great amenities including fast wifi across the hotel
Good value for money
Middle of nowhere => have to drive >20 kms from nearest city (or ATM!)
Mobile network is patchy - so be prepared not to receive normal calls or messages at many parts
4.0
it’s remote location and dining options.
just one item: have golf carts with sufficient battery power to transport people/luggage.
