From our arrival and throughout our visit Norma and Alan were exceptional hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent each morning especially the jams. The beautiful garden was tranquil and full of wildlife- Elvis the pheasant was a delight to watch.
The accommodation was spotlessly clean, and the location for us was ideal.
Alan was a source of golfing information which was really useful for us.
Having to leave.

A great location; although I ended up catching a stomach bug on my flight there, the owners were unbelievably nice and treated me as if I was their own family, fixing some toast late at night for me to be easy on my stomach. Would absolutely stay here again!

The location is glorious - Alan and Norma have created a beautiful and comfy "home from home" The breakfast is amazing, with lots of choices. We especialy loved the home made gooseberry jam and marmalade as well as bread from the local bakery. The gardens are a delight with glorious views across the fields to St Andrews itself. We spent a fair bit of time just chilling, being entertained by the antics of Mr and Mrs Pheasant (named by one of the grandchildren "Elivis" and Priscilla") as they scrambled to feed on seeds in the garden. A wonderful retreat but close to all the amenites and tourist spots around the East Neuk.
Nope, can't think of a thing, other than having to leave oh too soon! It is a lovely space and Alan and Norma are just so welcoming but never ovely intrusive.

Norma & Alan were very gracious and attentive hosts. I loved the location: quiet with beautiful views over the town and the sea. Delicious breakfast every morning, with home-made jam & marmalade. The accommodation is very comfortable and stylish - Norma's love of colour, textiles, pottery is evident everywhere, in all the thoughtful touches and details. Thank you very much!

Norma and Alan are the most kind hosts we've ever met. The location is wonderful and very quiet, the breakfast with the home-made jams and honey is exceptionel. St.Andrews is a great place to visit. We've got a lot of tips what to see and to do in the area. We enjoyed every minute and definitely will come back :-)

Balmungo Cottage on the edge of St Andrews was very comfortable with friendly hosts in Norma and Alan who couldn't do enough for us. Norma served the most delicious breakfasts which we thoroughly enjoyed. The view from the cottage was amazing. We would highly recommend this accommodation and hope to return ourselves in the future.
Cannot think of anything we didn't like.

Truly exceeded our expectations. We hesitate to recommend only because this is one of those places you want to keep to yourselves for future visits. Alan greeted us upon arrival and made certain we were comfortable. Norma prepared delicious 3-course full Scottish breakfast with cooked-to-order eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, juices, coffee & tea every morning. Fresh gooseberry jam from her beautiful garden. Alan's putting green was enjoyed by all. The cottage is spacious, comfortable and quiet. There is a t.v. in the receiving room, but we preferred to read books and relax with the floor to ceiling sliding doors open to the fresh air and gorgeous views of St. Andrew's.
The distance to town(s) is perfect. We could be anywhere we needed/wanted to get to in just a short drive, but the ability to stay at the cottage overlooking our favorite parts of St. Andrew's was just the right fit for this leg of our trip. We enjoyed Norma's eye for interior design which was evident from every angle. The vignette by the window, unique mirrors framing the fireplace in the primary bedroom, the towel ladder in the bathroom...everything was just lovely.
Alan and Norma have poured their hearts and souls into their property and it shows throughout. We look forward to many future stays! Could not have asked for anything more.

Spacious and very comfortable accommodation in a beautiful location with stunning views. The hosts are very welcoming and were very helpful in providing information on local places to visit and eat. The shared cottage is maintained to a high standard, has a beautiful garden visited by a variety of birds and wildlife.
Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice offered to suit each guest.
We were very happy with the location of the cottage outside of town. The town can be reached on foot but car transport recommended. Local taxis are readily available if required.
