We celebrated a special birthday with family- three generations- occupying the house and multiple friends staying close by. The house is spacious and comfortably accommodated our friends. The setting is magical- situated on the water, the grounds extensive with many mature trees, hammocks, places to gather. Some folks went swimming.
Pat Nelson was extremely helpful with ideas about where to eat, etc., and in general was an ideal host.
We would definitely return.

My family and I stayed for a week in the main house with 6 adults and 2 kids under the age of 4. It was perfect! The house is very spacious and charming. Almost every room has a view of the water. It was a perfect spot for the kids since it was steps from a private beach with very calm water (the only waves were from boats passing off shore). Perfect for littles! It is also close to downtown Greenport. We chose to drive into town, but you can easily bike or walk. We really loved staying here and plan on coming back next year!
Pat was a gracious host. He met us upon check-in, and was easily accessible during our stay. He makes you feel welcomed and at home. You can really tell how much he loves this property and how special it is to his family. The main house is filled with family pictures and his artwork, which made it feel homey and welcoming. Thank you, Pat for helping our family create lifelong memories!

The property is fantastic! We went with a group of 10 (mostly women) to celebrate our sister’s 60th Birthday. To say we had an amazing time is an understatement. Owner: Pat was wonderful & extremely knowledgeable about area. Hope to make this an annual tradition.

A true Gem and rememberable stay, the Owner/Caretaker is very nice and accommodating, will certainly book again in future! I grew up in the North Fork and to revisit in such grand style at this waterfront park setting is tremendous and reminiscent of an era and lifestyle enjoyed by Rockefeller's and Kennedy's. It's a shame that ordinances limit you to only 10 people in the main house as there was lots of room...but we all enjoyed the space! Now yes there are a few antique quirks regards where you can plug in a hairdryer which if you are experienced with house renting and realize you are renting a "vintage" turn of the century estate you will not be deterred. If your idea of a stay is to be able to watch TV in bed look elsewhere. But the property & waterfront experience and charm of this vintage farmhouse estate is truly one of kind. My adult children and teenager were amazed and loved the fishing and crabbing right off the beach which we cooked in the fully stocked farmhouse kitchen. The two patios for enjoying some wine and the view can't be beat. I just wish we had the time to take advantage of the several firepits. We look forward to a return stay to take better advantage of all this place has to offer and downtown Greenport. Again, the Owner was great even without asking extended the checkout time which was very much appreciated and we took advantage of to be able to spend more time in the North Fork. Annual Ladies Getaway
Pat was an outstanding host. He was so friendly and was available with any questions we had. He gave us a tour around the property which was chuck full of history. You should really ask him about his viking ship and the many unique things that was very interesing. We would definitely love to go back... maybe next year!

Exquisite Property &Views
Mother & daughter weekend, we loved the sun room with its outstanding panoramic views of Peconic Bay. The property was huge, room for frisbee, a cool dip, wine sipping on outdoor patio. Inside had a cozy living room with farm house kitchen and plenty of antiques , each room with a different wallpaper.

Girls Weekend Perfection
We are a group of 8 women who rent several times a year on the North Fork. This gem of a home is definitely one of the best places we have ever stayed. The location is SPECTACULAR. The view of Dering harbor is just breathtaking. We loved being able to walk in to town in about 10 minutes. The home has plenty of VERY comfortable beds. * women were able to shower with plenty of hot water for all. There are lots of indoor and outdoor seating areas to accommodate gathering in large groups. The kitchen and bathrooms were all stocked with necessities (bath towels, garbage bags, paper towels, etc.). Pat, the property manager and owner was delightful and friendly. We loved knowing he was on the grounds if we ran into any trouble. We will definitely be back.

Cherry Lane Farm: Perfect for a family celebration
Found a gem! Beautiful charming farmhouse. Private setting in Greenport with wide open space for kids to play safely. Learn the interesting history of the surroundings during your visit. The gracious owner who grew up on the farm is most helpful and goes out of the way to ensure your visit meets all expectations!

Absolutely loved our stay here!
Long overdue review. This was an absolutely wonderful getaway! The location was perfect, the house had everything we needed and was so, so comfortable. It was the perfect family celebration and was so convenient for us, especially with all of the Covid restrictions this past year. Pat was so thoughtful and helpful, and we all felt immediately at home as soon as we arrived. Can't wait to return!

A total sanctuary
This was probably the most special rental property I’ve every stayed at. Not only is the house completely charming and comfortable and huge, with many cozy nooks and corners to hang out in, it is also perfectly staged, sitting right beside the water with views from basically every room. Along with the most perfect sunsets. It is very close to the town of Greenport, but if you’re not wanting to venture too far afield, this is also the perfect property to hole up in for days – we didn’t want to leave. Pat couldn’t have been a more accommodating and generous host; another bonus was getting to meet him and get an authentic local perspective of what’s going on in the area. Stay here!

Lovely relaxing vacation in Greenport
We really enjoyed our three day getaway to this property. The house is a bit eccentric but in a good way. The downstairs rooms were beautifully and tastefully furnished mostly between the 1860’s and 1980’s. Beautiful but faded wallpaper and antique furniture mixed with modern pieces. The upstairs rooms are more modest but clean and functional. The grounds are fantastic with direct access to Pipe’s Cove on the Peconic River. The host is friendly and lives on site and happy to make recommendations regarding local restaurants and attractions. We had a great time and would not hesitate to return.

Paradise on the water
This is a totally unique property in an incredible waterfront location, close to the charming village of Greenport. Every room in this one-of-a kind house has a special atmosphere, from the inviting glassed in porch overlooking the bay, to the elegant living room with wood burning fireplace, wood paneled library, enormous chef's kitchen, master en-suite bedroom (with its own sauna) to an array of water view bedrooms upstairs, all with their own unique character and charm. This is a house to return to.

Fantastic location, thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Such an easy house rental experience. Everything was as described, and everything was easy. Location was superb - close to downtown, wineries, etc. Loved the huge kitchen for cooking a big meal for everyone. Being right on the water is a treat. Loved it!

Memorable Setting for a Family Gathering.
We booked Pipe's Cove for my wife's 60th birthday weekend. Everything is as good as it looks on the website. This is just an incredible property - large acreage, total seclusion, beachfront, and a view to Shelter Island. The house itself is historic, cozy while warm, and very comfortable - massive farmhouse EIK, separate dining room, living room and a fantastic all-season porch facing the waterfront. The 5 bedrooms were all good size, with the MBR being a Venetian style suite with separate rear patio. The house is indeed historic, and some areas may seem dated - but everything is high-quality, down to the wallpapers and dishes. The location is another big plus: minutes away from downtown Greenport and all the best of the North Fork of Long Island. Just a great locale and home to get the whole family together.

A multi generational playground
The setting, water views, beach and spacious house provided us, our children, grandchildren and chocolate lab a perfect vacation. We have stayed at multiple North Fork locations and and Cherry Lane Farm was by far the best. Pat, the host, was extremely helpful and friendly and the setting was stunning along with creating a community like atmosphere. The whole family can’t wait to come back next summer!

Shangrila
The word Shangrila is above the front door and is an apt description. We had an amazing vacation at Pat's place. It's so special and serene, we all didn't want to go home, especially our toddler. He is also a wonderful host, literally available 24/7 for any issues that come up. We look forward to making this a yearly trip.

Beautiful house and property. Great vacation spot.
Since 2014 my family has spent two weeks each summer at Cherry Lane Farm. If you’re looking for a place to get away for a week or two with your kids and/or grandkids, to sunbathe and swim and kayak, pick blueberries and raspberries, eat fresh fish and breathe clean air, I recommend Cherry Lane Farm. The Main house, separated from a private beach by a great lawn, comfortably sleeps ten and has a grand kitchen large enough for all to assemble and, should you wish, prepare meals together. The property itself is comprised of over seven acres of lawns and inlets. It feels miles away from it all and yet is a short walk into the lovely Greenport village. I’ve summered on both forks of Long Island, on Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and along the Maine Coast for the last forty years. There is no place like Pat Nelson’s Cherry Lane Farm. You have to be there to understand why.

Great amenities and setting for a family reunion
Our family has been gathering on the North Fork for a number of years and have stayed in various properties. Cherry Lane Farm and waterfront estate has been our favorite. It allows us to have great flexibility for family meals and a wonderful setting that looks out on to the water. The kids love the beach and the watersports. It is close to downtown so you can enjoy Claudios and other great places in Greenport. Pat, the owner, is personable and has great suggestions for activities. He maintains the property and is responsive to any issues.
If you want to build a family tradition of coming together and having great memories, this is the place to do it.

Waterfront Luxury
This beautiful home is right on a private beach with spectacular views of the Peconic Bay and Shelter Island. If you want to feel like royalty, book this gem. Lots and lots of room - 5 bedrooms, 3 baths - and luxurious furnishings - even a sauna. Walking distance to Greenport. We stayed for a week in 2014 and in June of 2015. What a treat!!

Wonderful home, a true retreat
This review is slightly belated, and written now as it's been almost five months since visiting "the Main House" and it's property and I'm going through serious withdrawal! We have been coming to this property regularly now for more than 5 years and I can say without reservation that it is a true gem, one of the most wonderful places we have stayed in around New York and even much further afield. The property itself is unique: while it's a short and pleasant walk into town, one feels very much secluded on the farm, resulting in a very real feel of a get-away from the hectic realities of every day life. The house itself is a haven: spacious, with several areas for communing with a group while also offering several nooks throughout the house for some peace and quiet. We have been coming regularly with groups of friends -- 4 to 5 families, all with young children -- and the unanimous feeling is that this is a very unique and special place. Where else can one walk a few steps from the house to a private and secluded beach; or BBQ just off of the bay; play frisbee in a spacious garden overlookign the sesa; or wander along a beautiful, natural marsh complete with herons? The owner has consistently been very friendly, responsive and gracious; we enjoy his company and hospitality and have enjoyed learning about the area from him. He has gone out of his way to ensure that we feel at home and that we have what we need. We have come back to this home time and time again -- it's something that we, our children and our friends look forward to, and we are already looking forward to our summer time visits!

5 Star Experience -
This is my dream vacation spot! Live like a celebrity for a week and get treated like royalty. Besides the outstanding property, house, views and endless activites for individuals/families.... the owner Pat goes out of his way to make you feel at home. Pat knows all the details of the towns and restaurants as well as all the nooks and cranny's that the property offers. Activities for adults, children or entire families to engage in without ever having to leave the property. The house has clean linens and spotless when you enter and Pat is always on the property for immediate assistance, advice, or great company. He is very accessible and responsive to any emergency's or immediate needs. Great to either relax with picturesque views or have the ability to interact with other families and form lifelong relationships! Enjoy the town, but have the ability to escape back in this "Great Gatsby" property.
The overall experience makes you never want to leave and go back to the real world. A piece of heaven at the end of Long Island!!!.

Unfortunate consequences
We stayed at the main house during late October. While the stay was wonderful and the property beautiful for families and children, in informing the owner of a problem with the toilets, we were nearly accused of causing the problem. It was shocking. The owner failed to follow up on messages sent immediately following our stay in relation to an item left behind, and only in follow up messages to the owner did he reply with further accusations and semantics related to the toilets. We will take our business elsewhere in the future. It's unfortunate when you try to do a good thing by informing a business owner about an issue to help them ensure their future guests are comfortable, it comes back to bite! Otherwise, the house itself is lovely, perfect for multiply family stays.

Family reunion from all over the US
This is a fabulous location for family reunions. We had both my mother's family and my father's family over on different days. We played kickball, soccer and volleyball on the lawn. I felt Gatsby-esque with the wide lawn sloping into the beach and Peconic Bay. The house is convenient to town and has a fun decor. I hope we can return for another reunion!

Total Relaxation for the Whole Family-Can't Beat the Setting or the View!
We stayed here for a week at the end of the summer with another family, and we all had one of the most relaxing and enjoyable vacations we've had in a long time--so much so that we've already booked a week for next year! The house is quite large and rambling, with plenty of room to get away from each other if need be, but also with great communal spaces to hang out, play games, and eat together. The setting is spectacular--right on your own private beach with a GIANT lawn to play games and run around on, with beautiful views across Peconic Bay. It's also conveniently situated quite close to town and to the ferry to Shelter Island, while still feeling like you're miles away from civilization.
The house was well equipped, comfortable, and clean, with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. Pat the owner was very accommodating and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed, and giving us great recommendations for food and activities in the area.
Everyone in our party had a an awesome time--from the youngest kids to the oldest adults and everyone in between. Even the dog had her best vacation yet! We couldn't have asked for a better week.

Lovely property - close to town
We stayed here on this property for a long weekend to celebrate a bachelorette party. The property is huge, with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms to accomodate our party of 9 girls. Everything was very clean and well-kept, and the pictures are true to real-life. It is within walking distance of town (less than a mile), and the owner is very helpful. It is a beautiful property, and I highly recommend it if you are visiting the Greenport area. It was a great experience visiting Greenport - going to the local vineyards and visiting the local eateries within town.
