Friendly staff, but room needs improvement.

The friendliest of people, ready to help you whenever you needed help and really easy to communicate with! The location was also good, and the room was cleaned in the middle of our stay!

I want to make clear that this is only about the separate studio that is a semi-basement, and not for the whole property. The room was not properly ventilated. There is only one window with a mosquito net, and then the door you enter the room from, which we could not leave open because of the mosquitoes. There is a ventilation fan in the bathroom that makes a lot of noise. The air was stuffy and every time you entered the room you felt that breathing this air was not a good idea. We always left the window open and still it was not enough. Also you can easily hear the people from upstairs walking or even talking at some times, and that was a bit of a problem.

amazing stay

Stunning view, very light and clean room, that has everything you might need. We came late at night and Paulo was there waiting for us, he was super friendly and helpful! it would be a pleasure to come back there!

Room with beautiful view very clean. Paulo was very helpful finding us a car to rent and waiting for us until late due to our delayed flight. Close to city center and good area to reach everything in Madeira.

Really recommend

We had a fantastic stay. The room has very clean and the view unique. The property is at 30-40 min by walk from the center, or 20 min by bus and it is very accessible.

It would be nice to have an air conditioning.

Amazing view, really nice room. The host Paulo greeted us and he was very helpful. The location was great with plenty of space for parking and is outside funchal sufficiently to get onto the major roads easily for travel around the island.

Beautiful premises close to Funchal center

We really liked the garden, the terrace and the view. The location was nice as the apartment is situated in a residential area. We also enjoyed the cleaning every two days.

The apartment is nice but lacking in some minor details. There was always a lot of humidity in the apartment, as there is no window in the bathroom. Some of the kitchen cabinets and the main window did not open and close correctly. There were also no towel holders in the bathroom or kitchen. What irritated us the most was that Paulo did not respond to our messages after we arrived in the apartment - he did not answer our questions and also did not explain the check-out process.

Location..even not very central to Funchal, it has everything you need around.. (Restaurants, Supermarket, take away food place, great place for coffee a bit down the street - Confeitaria [nos Barreiros] ) and if you prefer a more quiet place than city center, with great view and a good starting point for your everyday ride in Madeira..this is a the best place where to stay

We had deluxe apartment which didn't feel like you're in a hotel at all but rather in a big and spacious private flat. Really appreciated beautiful and tasteful furnishing with every detail well thought out, not to mention fantastic views of the island and being able to watch sunrise each morning. Also, Paulo was very responsive and helpful each time I got in touch for variety of reasons.

No major complaints just maybe some minor things that weren't very clear in the description. However, the place is amazing and would totally stay there again!

Amazing accomodation with a few cleanliness issues...

We had a very pleasant stay here. The host Paulo was welcoming and helpful, and booked a rental car for us in advance of your stay. The flat was big and open plan with amazing views on the bay of Funchal and on the pretty garden, the king size bed was comfy, the shower was powerfull, the towels were changed every 2 days.

The cleanliness wasn't thorough... In the bathroom, the toilet had dirty marks inside the lid and body hairs behind it, the vase with dry flowers was dusty. In the kitchen, the bin lid was dirty. In the bedroom, the floor was dusty under the bedside tables. We are sad to have to report this as the cleaning lady was a lovely smiling person. The decor was a mish mash of furniture, including a wobbly useless old fashioned sofa. A washing machine would be great, and there is space for it in the kitchen.

What a view!

Amazing views. Room was spotless and had everything we needed. Fridge, kettle and cutlery was really handy. Shower was lovely and powerful. Really easy to get into Funchal via bus/taxi/walk. Paulo responded to messages very quickly and kindly organised a taxi for us to the airport. Amazing value for money. Would definitely stay here again!

One very minor thing - it was little annoying you couldn't hang the shower hose up at head height. Separate to the room - the local chickens and dogs can be quite loud from about 5am onwards. We visited in November so slept with the windows closed so the noise wasn't an issue. It might be something to keep in mind if you're visiting in Summer months.

First time in Funchal and would defintiely go back.

Paulo was very helpful. He organised taxis from and to the airport, met us on arrival and was available via WhatsApp to help with any issues (none) and give advice (excursions etc,). The view from Room K was amazing. Bus connections to/from central Funchal are very good, so there is no need really to hire a car. Good range of recommended restaurants. We went to Gaviao Novo, ComTradições (twice) and Informal (excellent but no pre-booking so turn up and maybe queue) in the room guide. We would add Olivia, which we went to on recommendation of waiting staff at Informal. It is also really excellent.

The local cockerels can be a bit noisy! The local information guide in the room could indicate where the nearby taxi ranks are.

We liked pretty much everything about the appartment. The size was just right for us - the bed felt enormous and was really comfortable. The kitchen was big enough to prepare breakfast and light meals. Easy access to nearby supermarket and grocer for supplies. We especially liked the large windows that gave a great view over Funchal and we left open at night. Waking up to cool air and fab sunrises was amazing. Our host Paulo couldn't be more helpful, was really welcoming and helpful with setting up tours or providing information. Definitely going to be coming back.

Nothing that I can think of that we didn't like.

Perfect place if you prefer to away from downtown

The view from the balcony was absolutely spectacular! Sunrise the whole of Funchal wakes up below you. Paolo the owner and host was so easy to communicate with and very accommodating. The bed was super comfortable. Bus stops nearby with a 10-15 minute trip to the old town of Funchal. A big supermarket five minute walk from the hotel. Kettle and bar fridge in the room.

It was a very pleasant stay at Belvedere. Would definitely recommend to friends & family.

The place is located in a nice and convenient area. The room is certainly very well equipped and you'll enjoy calm and a superb view of Funchal. And Paulo is a great host!

Perhaps beddings could be changed once if your stay is over 4 nights. Towels were changed regularly and the room cleaned too.
