Staff is helpful and on top of it. They institute quiet hour after a certain time.

Location, staff, food were all great
The AC in the room didn't work well. It was a challenge to sleep with the heat of Dar and poor AC. However this seems to be the only room with an old AC. The other rooms had new units.

The bar area is a great spot to hang out for a variety of drinks, and good food. Loved the veggie options and draught craft beer.
It's located in a safe neighbourhood, only a few minutes walk to watch the sunset. Staff in the morning was really helpful, and gave us valuable tips of how to navigate the city.
The room didn't have any hooks to hang stuff, had loads of mosquitoes (we asked for a spray and were told that the housekeeper would spray it, but that didn't happen), and was quite dusty and dirty in the corners. The light in the staircase was on all night and shone into the room, not ideal to sleep.
Toilet only had a saloon door, so not much privacy.
Some of the staff at night were not really motivated, and seemed rather annoyed when we asked questions (e.g.for wifi password or for the mosquito spray). They forgot both nights to apply the 10% discount in the bar in-house guests receive, and had to ask them for it.

Perfect location, cold drinks, good place to hang out and meet people and they usually have live music or events on the weekends.
The music can be a bit loud if you’re trying to sleep. I don’t think it goes too late though (maybe 11?)

The granola was the best ,definitely recommend it
I didn’t like the fact that I didn’t stay longer

The staff were super helpful, they arranged to have our laundry done at a nearby place and helped us to book our bus to Arusha and even prepared a take away breakfast for the next day. The common area is big and the rooms are well sized and comfortable.

The communal bar and restaurant area was lively and fun.
There were no hooks in the room to hang things.

Very cool vibes, with trees around and the decor is cool. It's a very relaxing place and is well situated!
I stayed waiting for a long time to check in and I had to remind staff to supply us with bed sheets. Otherwise all was good.

Staffs are lovely, bar is super cool and has a vibe
The room was smelling really bad and was pretty dirty. I also found a pineapple fruit standing in the middle of the room.

There is much to like about SL, but the purpose of this review is to be listened to, as all these items have been mentioned in person to staff, yet nothing has changed. I will happily delete this upon acknowledgement, and replace it with one full of praises 🙏🏼
- Please: a designated smoking area, or none allowed. Many times I’ve been nauseated by cigarette smoke while eating or working in the common area.
- Please: wifi reaching the dorm so we can go work/call in there on the days the whole common space is blasted by loud sports projections.
- Please: somewhere to hang wet towels in the dorm.
- Please: some courtesy rules in the dorm… Take outside: Phone calls when people are sleeping, chemical deodorant sprays… Too many guests acting like it’s their own private room.
Respect and thanks 🙏🏼

Helpful and friendly staff who tried their best to deal with booking issues.
During a 2 night stay, I was made to move all my luggage and switch room twice due to the poor organisation of bookings. It was also not advertised that the hostel is really a bar, with the rooms like an afterthought on the side of the busy main drinking area. There is no privacy or security from the customers of the bar, and the noise travels to the rooms. It would have been easy for someone to enter the room even if they weren't staying at the hostel. For a slightly higher price point, I was disappointed with this stay and waiting to leave.

Great location! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful giving us as much info as possible on our onward destination. The decor gives the space a leafy and serene vibe which is the perfect escape from the bustling heat of the city
Water in the showers wasn’t consistently hot. You have about a minute of hot water before it goes lukewarm

Great vibes, cozy common area to chill, tasty food, clean rooms and clean shared bathroom
Can get a bit noisy at night from the bar and car traffic.

the location & breakfast
everything - I spent about 58 USD for a double room that had a torn bedsheet, dirty bathrooms. no water bottles in the room. I have stayed in hotels across Dar and I promise you that 50ish dollars will get you much better.
I read a few reviews that mentioned of a friendly owner on site. well, I believe I saw them a few times and didn’t even share greetings. Breakfast was great. Staff in the morning was friendly.
Wanted to experience a hostel once. maybe just not for me.

This is a perfect place to stay for the budget traveler, with the highlights being the great food, relaxed and fun vibes and value. I stayed in a private room which was met all basic needs.
Regarding the room, the photos included a mosquito net but there was none and when I arrived the window was open with several mosquitos having made their way in. Shared bathroom is extremely small, with the shower on top of the toilet, but functional. It’s also worth noting that there is a bar downstairs that can get pretty loud at night, which can make it difficult to sleep.
