Very well located in Hwange national park, ability to see elephants from the hotel, very friendly staff

Beautifully decorated room. Pool deck is fantastic where you can view the elephants at the waterhole. The staff were fantastic, helpful and friendly. Love the large boma with the fire.
I would suggest an upgrade of the food served.
An aircon or fan would have been great in the room, as it gets scortching hot inside the room.

A lovely resort! The facilities all seem very new and impeccably maintained. Rooms are comfy and the beds were superb. All the staff is incredibly attentive and helpful. Cannot recommend their guide services for Game Drives enough. We spent every day touring with Brighton and it was like having a professional naturalist alongside us, not to mention we saw dozens of types of animals. Don’t miss the Painted Dog Preserve about 20 min. away, as well.
Would love to return here someday, but would note some tips:
Bring plenty of cash for tips. Can pay for everything else with cards.
Meals are very delicious, but the menu is a bit limited and not always fully stocked, might bring personal snacks to supplement.
WiFi shouldn’t be counted on this far out, though there is a strong enough signal by the pool for checking messages and emails.

The ambience, the surroundings, the composition of the buildings, the lovely big bedroom
The menu in the restaurant, the offerings were too similar, especially those provided at breakfast, and the hopeless waiter

This hotel is made up of lovely little cottages along a sand path. The rooms are lovely and clean, but didn't have wifi (You could get wifi around the pool area). There is also no tea or coffee facilities in the rooms. The reception area is modern and impressive with a lovely pool area with couches and coffee tables. (Apparently elephants often visit the pool but sadly not on our day). Other than one other family I think we were the only people there which was a shame as it really is a lovely place. Often its the little things that make a difference like welcome drinks on arrival etc. that help make an experience more luxurious.
The food was quite average. We ordered a malva puddling that came as a vanilla sponge cake with lemon drizzle. We decided to forego the breakfast as it wasn't included in the stay and the options were limited. One other thing was there were no pool towels available and sitting on the cushion that many other people have sat on was a bit wierd, especially as I had put on suncream.

The staff was really nice and helpful . The guide who took us on safari was very professional. The water hole is great to observe elephants.
I was robbed at the property. 50 usd in equivalent disappeared from my locked bungalow. Don’t leave any of your valuables at the room as they are not safe there.
The manager tried to solve the situation and talked to the stuff but of course nobody saw anything. Unfortunately situations like this are very common in hotels in Africa . Including this one .
Also can’t recommend morning safari in the national park. We practically saw no animals in spite of all the effort of the guide

Hello guys, I booked a room at this great resort for 3 days to enjoy Hwange national park and safari. I must mention that the value I received exceeded all expectations! This fantastic hotel is in a great location, a beautiful spacious pastoral hotel with stunning, large and clean rooms in the heart of the bush that gives you an atmosphere that suits the place. The staff here is just awesome and extremely kind and helpful with anything you need! The food is fresh and excellent! The menu is not the biggest, but if you came for 3 days, it is definitely enough. There is a cute pool with bush views and I was lucky enough to see a huge male elephant drinking opposite. There is a place for a bonfire in the middle between the bar and the restaurant and it's nice to sit there in the evening with a bottle of beer. I had a small problem with the flow of hot water in the shower and they immediately fixed it for me and everything you need they immediately fix everything! You have "father and mother" here. I have to thank the manager Paul who arranged it for me and received me nicely and even carried my suitcase up to the room and helped me with everything I asked or ordered. I must thank the nice team: guide Mthabisi, chef Conard, waiter Denzel, bartender Future, waitress Patience, bar manager Witness and all the nice employees. There is no Wifi in the rooms, but only close to the bar and reception. Remember that you did not come to mess with your mobile phone excessively, but you came to enjoy nature and animals and of course freedom. I also recommend a two hour horse ride not far away with the nice Irish Linda. If you are looking for a good and pastoral place in the heart of nature, close to the safari with great staff and good food, this is definitely the place you would want. highly recommend!

Everything, except, food choices and jeep maintenence is faulty.
The fact my pants were destroyed due to a motor malfunction that sprayed into the inside of the jeep on the side seat where I was sitting. Had to throw pants away. .

The buildings and decor are beautiful.
The way staff and management handled a simple misunderstanding was very disappointing. It seems they are either not empowered to make decisions or they don’t have adequate training.

we spent a good stay at Gwango . the staff are very friendly . the swimming pool was clean. The restaurant was good except the fact that there was not a lot of choice of dish . i love the decoration.
The double bed was a little bit too small ( my husband mesures 1.76 and i was touching the edge of the bed. )
We were waiting for elephant for 3 days but we haven't see any . so bad ... perhaps next times !!!

The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating…thank you Pinkie, Greta, Mduduzi and Mona Lisa for making us feel so welcome! Solomon, our game ranger, was incredibly knowledgable and made his best effort to find us some lions! We booked two game drives…one in the morning and one in the afternoon/evening but in retrospect we should’ve opted for the full day drive (including breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks) but we were worried the midday heat would’ve been too much for the 8 year old in our family. The highlight of our stay was the herd of elephant (including babies!) that came to drink at the watering hole (and the swimming pool!) on the premises…this was the only one of the Big 5 (no rhino in the park due to poaching) we saw during our visit but, note, we visited during the wet season which makes game viewing tricky!
The decor was quirky and rustic…we loved sitting around the outdoor fireplace after dinner. The bush chalets were spacious, clean and comfortable but would benefit from some hanging space for clothes and additional towels. They’re is no WiFi in the rooms only in the bar area but this didn’t bother us in the least!
The food was delicious albeit the selection was limited and unfortunately not everything on the menu was available. We missed out on breakfast on our first day as we weren’t aware that we had to preorder our meals but we were fed some delicious skillet pancakes and tea/coffee on our morning drive so we didn’t go hungry. I understand that they will be completing construction of a new restaurant after the rainy season which will hopefully provide more flexibility and variety. We had an unforgettable stay!

The whole site has recently been fully and tastefully refurbished.
I am never not visiting here when I am in the area.
An absolute gem of a place to stay.
The Bar/Lounge/Restaurant probably closed a little too early for our liking in the evenings but I can understand why with the early Games Drives each morning.

Parking is a long way away from rooms. Distance from room to facilities very far. No kettle or coffee supplied in room. Meals grossly overpriced. For the facilities, the daily tariff is way over the top . For better facilities in Main Camp in Hwange National Park, the cost would have been USD 60.00

This property felt brand new, super stylish and clean. and the staff were all extremely friendly - Mthabisi, Kingstone and Frank, and of course, the best guide there is, Mangomesi, we were in the park with him 3 times and he is amazing.
The food options were limited and confusing. There are about 6 items on the menu for lunch/dinner but no more than three were ever available and normally there were only two available. We were there for 3 nights so that’s a lot of meals and the one that my boyfriend described as “inedible” (braised beef) was always an option, unfortunately. I understand hotels have to revolve the food they order around how many people are staying. one of our nights, a party of 34 was there. we placed our dinner order, as usual, in the morning and it was no longer available that night, just the braised beef was available. Extremely disappointing, especially after an 11 hour game drive.
The other negative is that there is a beautiful pool. on our one off day where we were going to relax all day, they were cleaning the pool. But they weren’t really. They’d work, then stop, then work, then stop so after 8 hours, it still wasn’t done. And the pool is in a relaxing area on the second floor near where elephants come to drink. Instead of relaxing in the sounds of the bush, we heard a bunch of guys and their radios. Disappointing.

Everyone was super friendly and hospitable. Authentic and local. Excellent value, especially in context of sky-high pricing for lodges near game drives. Activities were top-notch: our guides made sure we had as satisfying an experience as we had hoped for.
Limited menu, but understandable: why waste so much food? Entirely appropriate, sorry to our kids: you don't always get what you want.

It was everything strange and lacking service professionalism
The food was scarce, the service was unprofessional and the management is not worried at all with the clients

Very comfortable rooms, beautiful setting, tasteful decor, will be exceptional when the new buildings are completed.
Limited menu.
