About this house rental
This cozy, well cared for and well-appointed 1840’s two-story farmhouse is surrounded by National Forest Service land, and puts you in the middle of year round outdoor adventure or quiet relaxation. Hiking, swimming holes, mountain bike trails, downhill skiing, Nordic skiing and river tubing are within a 30 minute drive or less. The Town of Rochester, and its restaurants, cafés, bookstore, and antique shop is only a 5 minute drive.
Our house reflects much of what we love and look for most in a vacation rental. A space that is clean and uncluttered, but not devoid of character. A well stocked kitchen for making food and a large dining room table to share it with friends and family, cozy bedrooms with comfortable beds and quality linens, a living room with plenty of comfortable seating to play a game or watch a movie, simple but well-made antique or hand crafted furnishings, crisp, a front porch with a picnic table and a view, and a back yard for grilling and whiffle ball.
Guests will have exclusive access to the property. The main entry way to the house is through an unfinished space, which offers a place to take off your boots and store your outdoor gear before entering the main house. We ask that you do not go up the stairs to the second floor of the unfinished entry space. As with many old farmhouses in VT, there is an old barn at the back for the property. Guests should not enter it.
We have a no pets policy, and do not allow renters to bring their pets. However for those will allergies, please note that we do have a dog that does come to the house with us when we are there. He is a labrador-poodle mix (a breed considered to be hypoallergenic), and does not bother his owner who IS allergic to dogs.
Our cleaning fee covers 5 hours of cleaning. This is how long it takes to change and wash all the linens, clean the 2 bathrooms, and vacuum the whole house. It does not include the time needed for cleaning the kitchen as well. Guests are expected to clean up after themselves in the kitchen. This means any spills or splatters on the stove, counter, sink, cabinets, walls, or floor are wiped up. If it was not clean when you arrived, it is your responsibility to let me know. If the kitchen requires cleaning after your stay, extra fees will apply. Our cleaner does not always have the flexibility, especially on short notice or during the busy season, to stay at our house longer to clean a mess in the kitchen.

This is a charming historic farmhouse, very well equipped and beautifully furnished, definitely one of a kind. The only problem we had was with the keys. Only one set seemed to work.

We stayed at this house in March to ski at Killington (30 minutes away) and were lucky enough to have warm weather when we first arrived and (tons of) snow while we were there.
The house is beautifully furnished and stocked with everything you would need for a stay. "Downtown" Rochester is about 5 minutes away, but is fairly small. The nearest larger town is about 20 minutes away by car. Also, beware heading west out of the driveway in the winter time...even when it was raining or not doing anything at the house, it was snowing at the top of the pass.
As mentioned in the house instructions, we did encounter the cluster flies. They were harmless but annoying. The water pressure was also very low, which made showers somewhat difficult. Also, being out in the middle of the mountains meant that cell coverage was spotty in the house, but wifi at the house was great. Those minor downsides did not dampen our enjoyment of the stay, the cleanliness and beauty of the house, or the wonderful location.
We were able to hike, ski, snowshoe along the river, explore, and shop easily. I would recommend the house to anyone looking to stay in the middle of the green mountains.

This farmhouse is so sweet and comfortable and like stepping back in time. The kitchen is so well stocked. The rooms neatly decorated with more modern touches. A wonderful family get away for a ski trip- about 30 min from Killington or Sugarbush. We will be back in the summer for sure! Thank you 😊

We had a beautiful stay at the North Porch Farmhouse. I was a beautifully decorated farmhouse that was so clean that you definitely felt right at home. It was well stocked with all you need to cozy in for a fall weekend. It is close to trails and places to explore. One downside was it was on a busier road. If if was a little off the main road and quieter, it would have definitely been a 5 star!

We stayed at North Porch Farmhouse with 3 couples for 3 nights in July while we attended our sister's wedding. This lovely home was immaculate and exceeded our expectations. There was plenty of room for us to spread out, the kitchen was very well equipped, comfortable furnishings, charming decor and a short ride into town. We hope to visit again!

Great property with lots of Vermont charm. The house was located in the middle of our 2 planned ski destinations Mad River Glen and killington. It was exactly what I was looking for, a Vermont country setting.

This great little farmhouse was perfect. It was immaculately clean and the style of the furnishings was classy and comfortable. This was the most comfortable place we have ever stayed. Everything was so well thought out and right at hand. The kitchen was so well organized and equipped. We enjoyed the forest hiking and I found some great views to paint. Wonderful. Responsive owners and quaint restaurants in the little downtown of Rochester. We Loved it.

There were four of us in total, the house was just so cozy, you felt like you were home!
It had all the necessities for whatever we needed.
We grilled, hiked, shopped and the guys did some MT biking which they said was amazing. Can’t wait to book with you again!

Lovely stay!
This is a classic, vintage farmhouse lovingly renovated to preserve the original charm. It is well appointed with a better stocked kitchen than any home I have ever booked. The furnishings are comfortable and the decor is appropriate without being kitschy (no dollar store Home-Sweet-Home signs). We swam in Texas Falls, which are close by. Great stay, great memories, would go back anytime. Thanks, Bronwyn!

Farmhouse in the Mountains
A truly comfortable farmhouse close to Killington. Plenty of room for everyone and very clean. We didn’t get to use the snowshoes as the snow came as we were leaving. We loved the big kitchen and family table. Beds were comfortable, and we appreciated the washer/dryer as well as the giant mud room for ski equipment. We had a great weekend—we should have booked a longer stay as there was so much to do in the area.

Great week in Rochester, VT for GMSI
We stayed at North Porch Farm House for a week in July for the Green Mountain Suzuki Institute. The home was spotless and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very comfortable. The home was just minutes away from Rochester (center of town) so very convenient for the Institute.
All of the logistics from booking, house rules, checking in, and checking out were very well managed. We especially appreciated the responsive communication with Bronwyn throughout our stay.
We highly recommend this home for visitors to Rochester.

lovely and comfortable home away from home
We settled in immediately and found everything we needed for an extended stay. The house is so comfortable and warmly designed and decorated. Location is perfect - it's just as easy to get to town for necessities as it is to access national forest hiking trails. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Perfect family getaway
What a well cared-for property to relax in for a long weekend. A perfect Vermont farm house. My husband and I stayed there with our toddler and another couple and their toddler. There were SO many great places nearby to swim and take a walk. We spent a significant amount of time on the front porch...while close to a main road, it was still a lovely place for all of our meals and 'after toddler bed time' hang outs. NorthPorch Farmhouse had an extremely well-stocked kitchen and had so many fun amenities like tubes and lawn games. We had an amazing time! Thank you!

Felt like home!
My family and I had a wonderful vacation and New Year’s celebration! The house is quaint and feels like home. Conveniently located between Killington and Sugarbush, 30 mins either direction with plenty of hiking all around. We found everything as stated In the description and upstairs gets VERY warm so lower the heat at night. Fans are available and appreciated! Big variety of games for all ages so don’t fret if you forget ir don’t want to pack any. Appliances are modern and clean and we located plenty of silverware in the dining room buffet. Bronwyn was quick to reply to all my questions so I found that very helpful.. Loved the selection of books too! We would certainly return!
