Nice staff, good communication.
The room
Had several windows to the hallway. It was constantly lit. On the other hand all windows to the patio were obscured. The light was awful.

The historic building is beautiful and the courtyard sitting area and restaurant was a great escape from the hustle of the city. The staff were very helpful.
The room was noisy with the windows open—but it is in a busy bustling city.

Delicious breakfast provided. Lovely ambience of traditional architecture and interior design feature. Very helpful staff, and convenient to the old city.

The location and the staff.
The fact that instant coffee was served for breakfast

A lovely small hotel in the heart of Santiago, we walked everywhere - even to the Costanera Center. Close to the airport bus too. The staff were friendly and always available.
The courtyard music could be heard in our room but we asked if it could be turned down and it was - for the whole time without us having to ask again. Butter and jam isn't automatically provided with toast at breakfast, but again, we asked and it was provided.

The pluses are very very friendly and helpful staff (including with a problem that I had with an external laundromat); luggage storage while we went off to Easter Island; the historic building with lots of character; and good central location. It is also quite good value for money whereas we found Chile to be unexpectedly expensive.
A positive stay overall but with a bit of TLC for the room and furnishings, and an overhaul of the breakfast, and this would be a stellar place!
The first room we stayed in needed some attention and updating: the toilet flush was broken, for example. The second room was bigger, more modern and in a better condition.
Then the breakfast. This was very confusing. Although there is a cafe on site (that was able to make us a barista coffee one morning when we were leaving early….) the breakfast that is included with the room is rather embarrassing. Eg a cup of boiling water with a sachet of instant coffee and a tea bag. They would be better to scrap the breakfast all together (and not even change the room price) or charge a bit more and do it properly.

The location and the staff
The place is very old, older than it looks in the photos. And the breakfast was horrible.

The team was super friendly and the reception staff were outstanding - especially José, who booked tours and taxis very efficiently. The hotel was on a busy room near the old town centre, but the room was nice and quiet.
The hotel is beautifully renovated

The breakfast could be a little better…

I Loved the room, very spacious. The location was very good. I didn’t have time for breakfast, so they gave me a bag with breakfast for the road. Very good.

Great access to centro Santiago. kind, helpful staff.
The room I stayed in had a door to access the courtyard cafe. This is a great feature but in my case there were some noisy guests directly outside of my room since the cafe is open to 10:30.

The hotel is very beautiful and have lots of history. The room is HUGE and they provide you with a GREAT fan if it’s hot (trust me, I hate sleeping when is hot but the fan is great). They also have a heater for the colder months. Staff is super friendly and the location is right on the center do you can walk around everything! Hotel is about a 15min drive from the airport. Hotel offers a fridge near the reception in case you need to store something there!
We had to leave earlier due to my fiancés health and the hotel was extremely helpful and gave us a partial refund back! When we are back in Santiago, we will 100% be back!

could have had better maintenance.

Breakfast was good. The room was very spacious. Everyone was nice and helpful.
The shower did not drain properly in Room 14. The soap and shampoo dispensers did not seem to operate properly. The bathroom light was dim.
I was annoyed that there was going to be an extra charge for any late checkout, but they were nice enough to store my luggage between checkout and my 7pm departure for the airport.

really nice old building with beautiful timber floors and panelling. A definite air of fading grandeur.
My bedroom was very warm - an electric fan would have been useful. and nylon sheets- really?

convenient for Metro and city centre within walking distance. A building with character.
Small bathroom, limited breakfast choice.

This place is just dreadful, by far my worst experience in 30+ years of traveling. Advertises itself as a 4-star “boutique hotel” but turns out to be a late-1970s pension of the kind you would find near railway stations, which is more or less what the area outside looks like as well. Expect rooms less than half the size of the ones advertised, windowless and with sticky curtains scotch-taped to the glass doors to corridor and inside patio, which also don’t close let alone are soundproof, all rounded off with a generous whiff of cheap air-freshener to cover up the mouldy-sticky smell of it all. Patio functions as a bar-café during daytime and evening, at night other guests hang out there and smoke, so forget sleeping (also, the light in the corridor is never turned off and illuminates your cell). The “bathroom” is a cabin with a plastic miniature shower and sink, with nowhere to leave toiletries and a half-defunct fan making the noise of an espresso machine. To top it all off, during the entire day the same three pieces of muzak are blasted through the corridor speakers.
At midnight, with people still chatting right next to my door, I asked front desk staff if they could close the patio or transfer me to another room, and when this was refused told them I would otherwise have to book another hotel and demand for a refund of my reservation. They said there was nothing they could do, so I booked into another hotel, nonetheless they refused to refund me stating this was due to Booking.com policy, and only when Booking denied this, they said their “management” had decided to offer me a rescheduled booking instead! So, apart from running a terrible hotel, these folks are also dishonest and cowardly. Avoid this place like hell, which in fact it more or less is! (Pictures attached)

Everything about Casa Zañartu was fantastic. It is wonderfully located within a few blocks of the Plaza de Armas and has lots of very good restaurants and cafes nearby. The staff were phenomenal, answering our questions, calling a
cab and waiting with us until it arrived. There is
an on-premises cafe that serves an excellent continental breakfast (later in the day they have delicious looking pastries) with a very friendly
staff. The hotel itself is a marvelously
repurposed mansion of a family deeply entwined in Chilean history. Why would you want to stay anywhere else? (We’ll be back at the end of our
trip!)

Good location, nice staff,
The breakfast was a bit dissapointing, only getting hot water with instant coffe powder when they have a whole cafeteria with equipment. „Cereal“ was a Energy-bar to dip in a yogurt.
Toast and juice was good.

Good breakfast, 24 hour reception, very cute hotel, good facilities, located downtown.
