I recently stayed at Matilda's and found it to be a charming property just outside the city center, yet conveniently walkable. The staff was exceptionally helpful, and the breakfast served was perfect. The highlight was the beautiful backyard, providing a serene escape for relaxation.
During our stay, we explored Santiago extensively, walking from the hotel to the city center, visiting Christobelle, taking the funicular for panoramic views, descending on the gondola to Providencia for lunch, and strolling all the way back. It was a fantastic 30,000-step journey, all manageable for a day's outing from Matilda's.
Returning to the hotel in the afternoon, we enjoyed a relaxing beer in the garden, surrounded by the tranquil atmosphere. The library with its wonderful collection of books on Chile added a delightful touch to our stay. Matilda's provided a perfect balance of exploration and relaxation, making our experience memorable.
Stairs are old and creak when other guests walk up and down

The staff are very friendly and willing to help out with anything they can, including arranging airport transfers. The breakfast was a buffet with a good variety and excellent coffee. The rooms are beautifully furnished and comfortable.
The road at the front is very noisy due to traffic. We had to move rooms because of this, however you can still hear noise from some bars or restaurants on the back, playing music until late into the evening (it might be a nearby karaoke bar but not entirely sure). Earplugs could just about block it out though so I recommend taking some in case you are a light sleeper.

The staff was great, the hotel is beautiful and clean
The floors creek and we could hear every step from the room above ours

I have appreciated the architecture and atmosphere of this hotel as opposed to the "boring" international hotels.
The room was nice, clean and large, as well as the bathroom.
The personnel very friendly and helpful.
The location is very interesting and liveful with plenty of bars and restaurants just around the corner at walking distance.
I did not expect the weather to be so cold in this period and often needed to use the air conditioner as heating system.
I like soft boiled eggs, that are quite easy to prepare and not only the available scrambled and fried eggs.

Gracious old building, tastefully & modernly decorated. Amazing garden. The staff were wonderful - starting with welcome beverage and taking our luggage upstairs to the room ahead of us. Great location to downtown to ie. Just 25 minute walk to Museum of Natural History and Museum of Human Rights
THE BEST & most delicious vegan breakfast of all our stays in Chile!! They even pack breakfast to go if you are leaving early. Quiet neighborhood, yet just a block.away from eateries. We stayed at Matilda's on two separate occasions. Its a tranquil respite from busy Santiago.
There is no negative feedback for this awesome place

the ambiance and the location
my room was on the second floor. As I have mobility issues, the climb was difficult.
The rooms on first floor were not air conditioned.

I liked everything.
It's a lovely old fashioned and well refurbished building.
No elevators due his historical status.
Beautiful garden inside.
The staff was incredible helpful all the time.
Good restaurants at a walking distance.
It's said that the area is not recommended for walking around alone in the nights.
But went to dinner every night without any problem.

I felt very comfortable at this hotel. Breakfast is good, staff very friendly and helpful, the room nice and big - what I loved most is the architecture of the building and that it is close to the City Center.
Couldnt Provide a map of the City and breakfast Box was forgotten.

The hotel is in a beautiful building, lovely high ceilings, period features and is well presented throughout. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, not too much choice but essentials covered. The staff were really nice and helpful. The location was perfect for us, a nice walk into town and close to Metro stations. Also, the area was quite ‘hip’ with lots of street art and only 5 blocks away from where the current President of Chile is living!
Our room faced out onto the road which was a little noisy especially in the early morning during the rush! The location is not that central to the main parts of the city (E.g. Bella Vista, Italia, Santa Lucía, etc) although there were some bars/restaurants around the corner on Av. Brazil.

Beautiful old building with lovely garden. The staff were very helpful. Good breakfast. Rooms are spacious and very clean
Easy to get metro.
Noisy wedding on Saturday until the early hours. No chance of sleep and this is a regular occurrence in the summer. They really should warn you before you arrive.
No hot water for a couple of days. Not so bad in the summer but again this appears to be a regular problem.

not a very nice neighborhood.

the building and the decoration
the area was a bit questionable at first, stray dogs and looked kinda poor. then once Ingot used to it, it was good and found out it was 30’ walk from administrative city center

I could not fault it in any way. I think it is a pity that they do not have a lift, but I am sure that will be rectified in due course. The owner was charming and helpful and friendly. We could not have been treated better. I would recommend it to anyone.
The television did not work, though that did not matter for us, but it would have been nice. And as I have said it would have been nice to have had a lift, especially with heavy luggage, though a strong man turned up and carried our cases up stairs. I am sure that they will rectify this - also the breakfast needs attention. It really was not very good. This was a pity, but I think they can work on that if they are told. We asked for a poached egg and that seemed too difficult for the cook! The coffee and tea were not very nice at all. But as everything else was very nice it did not matter much.
