Extraordinarily beautiful, with equally fine service.

The most secluded hotel I've ever stayed in without even a signpost, and that enhances the distinct private magic, with its five mysterious rooms combing comfort and nature so that every vista is uplifting. I loved the birds bobbing their fine long tails outside my open shutters, the monitor lizard flashing its tongue, the verdigris gate out to our private empty beach of white sand. Sublime food, especially the dinner on the beach surrounded by flaming torches.

Incredible place to stay, remote in a good way, beautiful beach. Would definitely stay again

The only small comment is that even after an explanation by the staff operating the indoor shower was challenging, but there was an outdoor shower

Perfect in every way!

Everything was excellent! The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The common areas were beautifully decorated and plenty of room to relax. We loved the outdoor showers and the bathroom was large, with an open shower. There was a private patio area opening to the green space between the property and the beach which was nice. The room was in the ground level but the breeze was slight. There is A/C which was a necessity! The food was some of the best we had in Sri Lanka! The menu was extensive and delicious. The staff was superb, catering to every need we had including arranging driver to Ella. The location was amazing, just steps away from the Mawella Beach which was deserted and quiet. Thank you for the beautiful stay!

A beautiful hotel that feels more like a home

We have stayed in many beautiful hotels around the world, but I think “the last house”, is probably my favourite of all time. Firstly, the property is incredibly beautiful. The gardens are well manicured, and the house is in wonderful condition. You fee as though you are lucky enough to be staying in someone’s beautiful home, instead of a hotel. The manager and staff were so lovely, and we really enjoyed our chats with them. Breakfast was lovely, as was dinner. The beach front location is perfection, as is the beautiful pool. We stayed in the cinnamon hill suite, which has the large bedroom, bathroom and the ocean views from the balcony, which i’d highly recommend booking. We will definitely be returning on our next holiday in Sri Lanka.

pleasant and a stunning location

the Bawa house is beautiful as is the location

Rooms are dated, furniture is a bit of a mix. lightning is poor and not helped by extension cords across the floor.

Very good

The staff were excellent and made a huge effort to make us welcome. It was right on the beach with monkeys and peacocks in the garden. Not much going on around and about but it was very relaxing and we weren't really looking for more so didn't really pursue that - they did a lovely candlelit drinks on the beach one night. The pool was a good size and we had some good meals,

We found the bedroom a little dark and the wc leaked - bathroom need to be upgraded.

Exceptional

Beautiful. Stunning architecture, wonderfully unspoilt, no other tourists! Charming staff and delicious food, could’nt be better. Absolutely not for those looking for bars/social life/activities. Not really for children and teenagers either, perfect for anyone looking for unspoilt beauty, peace and quiet.

We’ll hope to go again

Perfect hospitality in an out of the way location. Excellent freshly cooked food of the highest standard at all meals alongside the most attentive service but all done in a ‘low key’ professional manner. A perfect quiet haven.
