Location on Lake Victoria might have been nice, but the Palms Beach Hotel would not honor our reservation at the price we booked even though we had a confirmation email documenting our booking and confirming our reservation
The Palms Beach Hotel hiked the price when we arrived to check in after driving 200 km to get there. They said Booking.com made a mistake and if we wanted to stay we would need to pay $13 per day more. Interesting that the $13 was close to equaling the two discounts Booking.com provided when we made our online reservation

I liked the balcony and lakeside restaurant. good ours of red wine and excellent wait staff. good so so the AC was amazing bed was comfortable
not a lot to do near by. desk staff did not understand that I wanted to go on a boat at sunset. got me an expensive boda driver who left me smelling g disgusting. hot water was unpredictable and last day I had to shower in a different room. they made me early breakfast of dry bread and boiled egg. like I would imagine prison breakfast. no cream for coffee

Excellent hospitality, nice bar/restaurant by the lakeside, clean rooms

The only plus point in this sorry experience, surprisingly, was meeting the owner, a Rwandan lady called Peace. She studied at university in England and worked for the UN in various parts of Africa before retiring to open this guest house. She was utterly charming, but unfortunately, the hotel did not match her charm
One other plus point - my free airport pickup was on time and friendly, by Isaac
Where to start ??
I arrived about 9.30 pm, and decided to have a hot drink before going to bed. There is no restaurant in the hotel - it uses a small restaurant across the road, on the lake shore. Although there were still a handful of people in there, they told me they had already closed, and were unable to make a cup of coffee. I returned to my room to look for the coffee making facilities mentioned on my booking confirmation, but no luck. I went downstairs to ask the receptionist where I could get coffee, and his less than helpful suggestion was to wait until morning
Meanwhile I decided to have a shower. The shower consisted of a waist-high tap, with a switch to redirect the water to the overhead shower Sadly the switch only worked if held in position with one hand. The shower discharged a trickle of barely lukewarm water Again, the receptionist showed little interest. There was no shower curtain or door, so the water from the tap gradually spread across the whole bathroom and toilet and started escaping into the bedroom, both of which had very slippery tiles
There was also no sign of the safety deposit box mentioned on the booking confirmation. The reception guy looked hopefully into the cupboards, but he, too, failed to locate it.
Also missing was the flat screen TV, admittedly not mentioned on my booking confirmation, but advertised on the booking.com website as begin every room
The following morning I went across for my long-awaited cup of coffee. Breakfast supposedly started at the rather late hour of 9am. I arrived a few minutes later, but they were still tidying up from the night before Service was rather slow, despite my being the only customer, other than 3 guys who had come in for an early beer
When my eggs and avocado on toast was delivered, it was already almost cold.

TV channels are minimum and the matress can be softer

Location was good. Lake Victoria could be seen from the room itself. Near by many small restaurants. Was quite place. Loved the vibes.
Rooms were not very clean . There was some problem with shower taps. Window nets were broken so along with mosquitoes there were lizards too in the room and bathroom . One of the bathroom windows didn't had curtains which made it difficult.

proximity to the airport
it was run down. the restaurant was below average with the chef arriving 30mins late delaying breakfast. it was noisy all the time.

I hate most your service and promise not to come back or refer any of my friend coz your service was too power while the price too high! My guest slept the room with no ace,no barcode, dirty,no breakfast,no WiFi because you didn't reserve the room for her regardless of making reservations earlier a week before but you still ignored me! I tried to email you to change her a room but no one replied! Therefore in short your poor service render in Entebbe and don't ever bother me with your text nonsense!

The breakfast (across the road, from 9am - 11am) was good and the WiFi was fast. The young man at reception who tried his best to get our TV working. The lady who served us breakfast was also very kind and gave us advice about staying safe when walking to Botanical Gardens.
The hotel claims to provide a free shuttle to/from the airport but this is borderline false advertising. In truth, you cannot rely on them! Shortly after booking we were contacted by the hotel asking what time shuttle we needed, as it was free. We said we would like a shuttle at 9pm on the day of our checking out, because our flight was leaving in the very early hours of the following day (as is common at Entebbe). They wrote back agreeing to this, saying "the shuttle will be available in time to drop you at the airport". Sounds great, right? But fast forward three weeks to the day of our check out and the staff said they were not aware of any shuttle coming to pick us up. They said it was only available during working hours (no mention of this previously), and that we would have to pay for a taxi instead. When I showed them the message they had sent agreeing to a shuttle at 9pm, things got unpleasant. At first the manager claimed that they thought we were staying the night of the flight (even though this was clearly never in the plan - checkout was always going to be on 19th). He then started to change his story and claimed that we should have purchased a late check-out in order to be eligible for a 9pm shuttle (absolutely no mention of this beforehand). The mental acrobatics they went through to try to justify not standing by their commitment were something to behold. In the end, the hotel refused to keep its word and we had to arrange our own private taxi to the airport at our own cost. The money wasn't the problem - it was the lack of honesty that disappointed us :(
Minor issues:
TV not working in the room
No hot water in the shower

I stayed in the room in the photo above. Great location, loved to swim in the lake. Management and staff were always cheerful.
Hot water was a bit hit and miss.
Restaurant needs a bit more skill with Western food. Local food was always good.

The property is ideally located on Lake Victoria. The owner was very welcoming, she greeted the guess at breakfast each morning by name. The staff was very accommodating. The place was secure. They have an airport shuttle.
I wanted to have some clothes washed but was never given a price per item until my cloths were returned and to my surprise the it was very pricey. I know hotels are normally pricey but had I known the price some of the items I could have washed myself. This was not all their fault I should have also asked per item price myself.
Lake Flies, which is not the hotels fault I only including this to forewarn others who may encounter them on their stay.

Facility is aging. I had an aircon that came on on its own and I finally had to swith off at the main switch. The room wardrobe door would not remain shut. And the lighting in the room was very poor.
The breakfast was not worth it.
