Location was great and scenery. Lots of room and clean. We are dog people so was nice to see pups around as we missed ours.
Several lights weren’t working nor hair dryers but owner notified so this could be corrected. Solar water heater takes a bit of time for hot water to start and volume is limited so hard with a group of 7 to get good showers.

Breakfast was nice - they left some cereal, milk, eggs, juice, bread, and fruit for us! The property is gorgeous - huge front porch with a swing, a nice covered patio with a grill, hiking trails right out the back. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were updated. Each bedroom had its own full bathroom.
The roof leaked in one of the bedrooms during a heavy rain. One of the bedrooms has an external door only, so the person staying in that room has to exit the main rental to get to door to their bedroom.

I love the view from our place. Love how much room we had both inside and outside. The front potch and trail were awesome. Enjoyed the fruit and breakfast. I we prepared our own breakfast each morning. Host help me with ordering food for delivery.
We had a hard time finding the place. Perhaps the name on the side of the home would help or perhaps directions from host. It was strange not to be greeted by the host. We were hesitant to walk into our place. Directions on how to work the TV and shower for hot water would be helpful.

The views at this property are stunning the host was super relaxed and attentive and let the kids use his trampoline and gave them some bubbles which they were thrilled with. Sitting out watching the humming birds and looking out at the view was amazing. It was great value and we really enjoyed it
Nothing really the only thing i’d suggest is moving the table football and puttinf another sofa there so it’s more comfortable for everyone to sit in the lounge as there’s only one sofa it only really fits 4 and you have to sit in a line. But that’s a tiny suggestion really the place is idyllic and we loved being there. The road up to it and the directions were tricky maybe having a welcome email with al the relevant info in would reduce the number of whatsapp questions we sent david the lovely owner. He was very helpful but we asked a lot of questions.

Location
The first woman who gave us the keys was hasty and we had the impression she had more important things to do then dealing with us

The house is very spacious! Loved the views and trails around the property, as well as the wildlife all around.
It's a great location for those wanting to be close to all the attractions without being too close to the noise of Santa Elena.
The host was not involved or attentive during our stay, and upon arrival we didn't feel very welcome.
On booking.com it shows as 'breakfast included', when in reality, the host drops off a box of ingredients for you to make your own breakfast. Expect to get the low quality/cheap ingredients for you to do so (processed cheese, cheap bread..etc). The fruit was the only highlight of the box of ingredients.
The house itself is desperately in need of some extra attention - the games in the house were disorganized and missing pieces, the kitchen needed dishwashing liquid and definitely more space, and we couldn't find anything to scoop up the dust with either.
The hosts had guests over, which resulted in being woken up really early with kids playing right under our bedroom window.
We couldn't figure out how to use the multiple remotes for the TV- something that could maybe have been explained upon check-in.

Gorgeous view! It sits high on a hill and on a clearer day you can see the Gulf of Nicoya and the Pacific. Very spacious. With a family of four, both kids had their own room which they haven't had on previous travels...they liked that. El Granero is a converted barn consisting of three bedrooms with a full bathroom for each and another half bath down the hall, living/dining area and a full kitchen. There is also a loft but with low headroom so it's not practical for adults or even teenage children. In essence it's a house with a porch, terrace/sitting area to admire the view.
The owners live in the house next door and are accessible and very accommodating if you need anything. "Breakfast included" consists of provided groceries to prepare your own breakfast...basically eggs, bread, fresh fruit, cereal, juice and coffee. It was convenient for getting an early start and you can pick up groceries at the local mercado for other meals or snacks if you are so inclined. We ate out for lunch and dinner.
It's not far from Santa Elena, the main town associated with Monteverde, and is just off the same road to the Sky Adventures Park.
We had a chronic problem with hot water availability. The owners had switched over to a solar water heater and it needed a replacement part...from San Jose. A propane backup heater was used in the meantime. Presumably it's permanently fixed now but we experienced hot water/no hot water for our three nights there.
It's hard to find. Maps aren't accurate enough to pinpoint it and we missed the proper turns a couple of times. Try to get there the first time before dark. The roads are winding, hilly, not paved and full of pot holes. You could navigate with a sedan as I did see them on the roads but in my opinion a SUV with the higher clearance and stronger engine is necessary.
Payment is cash only...not Venmo or other options so that's a lot of bills to carry. ATMs are available in Santa Elena and we went to a bank where you get colones (converted by the bank and your bank at the current exchange rate).

The house was spacious and very comfortable, with outstanding views of the Gulf of Nicoya, and within a short drive to restaurants and attractions. The property is safe and peaceful with walking trails and great opportunities for birdwatching. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The dirt road to the hotel was a challenge to our rental Nissan Versa. We made it, but an SUV or a more powerful car would have been preferable.

Great location, great house, and great hosts. They help arrange a hot springs tour, our Covid testing, and recommend some really great restaurants.

The property and views. The house is clean and comfortable. Liked the Foosball table.
The house lacked paper towels, garbage bags, and extra toilet paper, some of the showers were partially clogged - though it is a more eco-friendly property. Hot water wasn't initially available. Kitchen could be better appointed.

The exceptional view, the warmth of a home away from home, with all the comforts you would want.
A little hard to find without gps or WhatsApp location but the owner sent the location a few days before travelling through WhatsApp so that was a big help.

The place is fantastic, really super wonderful, with a lot of space, games, basics. The views are undescribable!!! The hosts are respectful of your privacy and help much of the issues about things not working. They were so nice in helping getting the cash for payment.
Sometimes internet and TV didn't work (owners tried to fix but kept happening). Though we tried to use warm water really very little, at times no hot water at all was available. We were offered to connect gas of that happened but didn't want to be flagging things all the time. All in all that didn't mean they don't get a 10, just fine things would be nice to be fixed.

The house is great for a big family or a group of friends...high on the hill overlooking the town. The host was great and super helpful.

Everything was just what we hoped! The host was great, the house was perfect for our family of 5, the host left us food which we really appreciated after a long day of traveling, there were games there that our family enjoyed playing, it was clean and spacious, it was close to food and activities, and the host was great to work with.
It was great. There wasn't anything not to like. I highly recommend staying here.

This home is such a magical place! We arrived late in the night and David, the host, accepted us so kindly that evening and all the way through to our departure. It is the most perfect home ever! I wish I could stay there forever ❤️❤️❤️❤️ it is perfectly located next to all the eco parks of Monteverde and even has its own little park right behind the house! I enjoyed my stay here very much and hope to one day return🙌🏼 thank you!
Nothing it was perfect!
