Close to bus stop. Half a block to center town. English speaking staff who were more than helpful booking trips ,etc. The rainforest was amazing. The ziplining at Extreme O was a blast. Coffee tour, night walk. Everything was great.

I originally reserved a private room at Sloth Backpackers but on arrival was told to go to the sister hostel two doors down as they were full. Had to make the payment at the property and only cash payments were allowed which I was not made aware of in advance. As I was not at Sloth, my room did not have cable tv as advertised. Breakfast was alright and good service. Did not sleep well at all as both nights I stayed two different guests tried getting into my room - unsure if coincidence or if both guests had been sent to the wrong room? Wind howled through the hotel all night and traffic outside was very loud. Good location and shuttles available, room was clean (especially bathroom) and shower was powerful and hot.

Low budget with excellent service. Downtown, a little noisy during the night. No A/C.

This was our first stay in Costa Rica, staying here two nights. I payed via paypal ahead of time, as they were having problems with their credit card machine. That made the check-in process very easy. The room was big with an adequate bathroom, and while there was no fan, the air circulated through at nice through little windows above the front window and in the bathroom. The location is outside of the totally crazy area a few streets away, but it is fairly easy to walk around town. The staff is well familiar with tours, so if you haven't signed up for anything, they can help with that. Walking around Monteverde at all is somewhat challenging at night when it's dark (steep roads, not a lot of lights), but be careful to watch for cars and motorcycles and you will be fine.

I stayed here for five nights and it was ok. I dont think it was worth the cost, especially when they added 13% tax on top. This hostel was on the main road and so was very noisy with traffic noise early morning until about 9.30pm. The breakfast was ok, bit enough but was made prior and then just reheated when you turned up. The kitchen closed awas closed from 9pm to 7am, so you had to keep that in mind if you were doing late tour or needed your food before 7am the next day. They were helpful with tours, beds were comfy with extra blanket, but not a lot of space to chill out in. Overall an ok stay, but would probably recommend to try another hostel if youre in Monteverde.

After traveling for over 5 hours I come to check in and Yorle made me feel completely unwelcome even though I had a reservation. She told me to type my info into the computer and got annoyed when it took me some getting used to as keyboards in the U.S. are different. Out of all of the hotels, hostels I've been to I have NEVER had to literally type in my own info. (Lazy much?). The only time Yorle was pleasant was when asking if I was interested in doing activities and told me if I decide to do anything that I absolutely HAD TO BOOK WITH HER and that it was VERY IMPORTANT! The room was decent but the street was VERY noisy. Unfortunately I was ill and spent most of the day and night inside and had trouble sleeping as I heard every conversation and car drive by. This hostel put a damper on my time spent in this part of the country. Don't recommend.
