Our stay exceeded all expectations. Tom, the owner could not of been any nicer or helpful. The cottage was well stocked. Food markets in Tipperary were close and convenient. The cottage and garden are stunning. We highly recommend staying in the cottage if you are looking for a fairytale. When we first arrived the cottage was hard to find at night, but a quick call and Tom was out with a flashlight to guide us in. What a great host.

Beautiful Doon!!
Tom is really the definition of a “Super Host”!
His ancestral cottage is just beautiful! Totally loaded with any equipment you may need, and it sits on a large land with gorgeous flowers. It is quiet, in a rural setting nearby a church making it easy to find.
It was perfect for me to access main roads for all my day trips…
I will be back again in this lovely area and Tom’s cottage will be again my home away from home!
Go raibh maith agat!

We had a wonderful time at Cooga Cottage. Tom is the ultimate host. The Cottage is the best provisioned vacation rental we have ever stayed in. It is well kept and quaintly furnished. A true Irish feel to it. Tom is personable and super friendly yet maintains a professional relationship at all times. We highly recommend Cooga Cottage!!

Tom was very organised & helpful. Had a wonderful stay. Cottage is beautiful and really enjoyed our stay. Very well equipped and stocked with tea, coffee, biscuits and toiletries. Great to have dishwasher and tablets were waiting for us. A home away from home. Thanks for a lovely break.

Tom was the perfect landlord. A warm welcome, he explained us everything we needed. A beautiful cozy cottage in a small village, calm and peaceful. We really enjoyed it and it was the perfect start for all our tours to Killarney, Cork, limerick, Cliffs of Moher, Galway and so on. Bigger supermarkets are ca. 20min away, small express markets are close so a car is always needed. The cottage has the perfect size for a family with 2 children ( not too young because of high angled stairs). Thanks Tom for our first beautiful days in Ireland. We hope to come back one day.

Fabulous
It's a lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. The garden is amazing. It's very well equipped and Tom is such a helpful gentleman.
We really enjoyed our stay and Tom laid on some of the finest weather we have ever had anywhere on holiday.
It's really central to lots of places so we enjoyed days out in Waterford and Limerick, Bunratty and had an overnighter to Galway and Clare, particularly Doolin and The Cliffs of Moher. If you get chance visit Coole Park at Gort.
Had the weather been less good we might have done more but sitting in the sun, in the garden, was good enough.
Thanks, Tom.

Beautiful Cozy Cottage!
Tom made us feel incredibly welcome on our first trip to Ireland. His cottage is absolutely adorable and was in the perfect location for family of 5 on our 9 day stay with frequent road trips to and from various locations in Ireland. The cottage has all the amenities and Tom even provide a very nice welcome package of cookies and milk for the family!
All of our needs were met staying here to include comfortable beds, plenty of linens, fully stocked house and kitchen appliances with plenty of tea and sugar. The property is well kept and a beautiful view in the mornings from the kitchen window.
I would definitely recommend a stay at Cooga Cottage for anyone looking to book with Tom, he and his cottage made our trip most memorable!

Idyllic Irish Vacation stay
Charming cottage nestled in the Irish countryside - far exceeded our expectations. Grounds are absolutely beautiful and the cottage very well maintained. Tom is a fantastic host - ensuring that our stay was both welcoming and comfortable. Too many bonus amenities provided to name but will say arriving after 36 hours of travelling to find ready to use ice cubes in the freezer was a true blessing. Definitely would recommend Cooga Cottage to any friends or family considering travel to Ireland. Thanks again Tom for your part in making our trip to Ireland a memorable one!!

Peaceful week
We (three adults, a teen, and a child) stayed in the cottage as our home base as we explored Ireland by rental car each day. We took trips to Limerick, Cashel, Gallway, and more. Every evening, we were excited to get back "home" and relax. I would recommend building in a few days of downtime at the cottage, as you will enjoy playing or reading in the garden to take a break from touring. The owner was helpful and friendly and supplied everything we needed (aside from food) to make our meals. Would definitely return.

Gorgeous, cozy, perfect.
Tom had this cottage totally provisioned with all we needed for self-catering. It was our spot to return to after a day of sightseeing. We totally enjoyed it. The grounds are spacious and pretty.

A Perfect Irish Cottage Experience!
Cooga Cottage was above our expectations! Tom was very helpful and answered any questions we had. He even told us of a nearby mechanic when we had a flat our second day there. The cottage was warm, welcoming, and you felt like you lived in the Ireland countryside. Doon is a central location to many attractions in Ireland including Cork, Dublin, Limerick, Cliffs of Moher, and the Rock of Cashel. We highly recommend Cooga Cottage to anyone!

FANTASTIC
we arrived after a pleasant drive from Dublin to find Cooga Cottage was exactly as depicted in the listing on HomeAway.
Tom Keogh was there to greet us and introduce us to his cottage and to tell us about the homes history in his family.
Tom has ensued that everything is supplied to make this a home away from home and the only regret we had was when the time came for us to leave and continue our travels.
A great pleasure to meet you Tom and we have already told our friends and our travel agent about your lovely Cooga Cottage

We spent a blissful 7 days at Cooga Cottage. From the moment we arrived, we knew this was a special place. Thomas, our host and owner of the cottage, was gracious and welcoming. The cottage is spacious, very well appointed and immaculate, and has virtually everything anyone might need. Travel books and novels line the walls of the den, all three bedrooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable, even the bathroom is stocked with an amazing array of toiletries. Satellite TV and Wi-Fi worked very well and without any glitches. All the credit goes to Thomas, who obviously has made it a top priority that his guests have an outstanding experience during their stay at his cottage.
Doon is a small, quiet town filled with and surrounded by farms and pastures. Yet it is only a 30 minute drive to downtown Limerick, with its shops, restaurants and bustling streets. We had no difficulty using the cottage as our base for day trips to Kilkenney, KIllarney, Lough Gur (very close), Limerick, the Cliffs and much more. Even Galway was an easy drive under 2 hours.
This was our first trip to Ireland and we had an absolutely wonderful time. Thank you, Thomas, for allowing us to spend a week in your family's cottage - we enjoyed it immensely and hope to be back again in the future.

Wonderful Irish cottage, perfect for a family holiday
We had a wonderful stay at Cooga Cottage in February 2016. Tom made sure that we felt welcome and had everything we needed. The cottage was cozy and warm, and we had plenty of space for our family of five. We enjoyed the yard and gardens. The location was great - we could walk into Doon, and we made several daytrips (Cliffs of Moher, Limerick, Cashel, Cork, Cahir, too many castles to count!).
Tom has thought of everything that guests might need. The kitchen was well equipped, the laundry worked well, there were plenty of towels and toiletries. Wifi and satellite TV were provided. The utility costs were very reasonable (EUR 40 for a week with temperatures 0 - 10 C). Tom even provides umbrellas and high-visibility vests for use as needed. Nothing was lacking.
We had a wonderful stay, and our children are already asking when we can visit again!

Excellent
We stayed at the Cooga Cottage in August 2014. A little late in providing a review - But Cooga Cottage was everything we could have asked for. Tom was a wonderful host. We had some problem with the internet connectivity and he got that fixed the very next day. We took day trips to several places from here (yes the drives were long). The kids loved his yard and we spent 2 days relaxing in the Doon area (out of 9) and also had a picnic in the back yard. Would definitely stay here again.

A wonderful cottage
First, Tom was the consummate host. He kindly allowed us to check in early, which was a HUGE perk after the trip from the states. When we arrived, Tom was kind enough to give us a tour and a brief history of the cottage. He also had everything that a traveler would need, or might forget (e.g., List of nearby stores and when they were open/closed; a list of nearby activities; extra supplies like shampoo, etc.). When Tom saw us outside, he always asked us how the cottage was and if we needed anything.
Second, the cottage was wonderful. The cottage was impeccable and had everything that we needed and wanted. There were 3 bedrooms; a cozy living room and a well-equipped kitchen. Added bonuses were the washer/dryer and Wi-Fi. The grounds were fantastic; the yard was park-like with the well-maintained lawn and gardens full of flowers and shrubs; just a very peaceful setting.
The cottage was also central to the places we wanted to visit (e.g., The Cliffs of Moher; Rock of Cashel; Adare; Waterford, etc.). We would take the 5-minute walk into the village after our daily travels to grocery shop or stop at a pub for a pint. The people were very friendly and gave us additional tips as to what we might want to see if time permitted.
We cannot say enough about the cottage and our host and would recommend the cottage to anyone who wants a great spot to call home on their vacation. We will be searching out this cottage for our next visit.

This was the perfect spot for our family trip. Tom was such a delightful host, and he went above and beyond when a member of our party suffered a back injury by helping sort out an appointment with the GP and a visit to the pharmacy. The kitchen is very well stocked, and there are markets in town and bigger supermarkets close by. This is a great location for day tripping--we visited Birr Castle, Bunratty Castle, The Rock of Cashel, Cahir Castle and the Swiss Cottage, The Burren National Park, The Cliffs of Moher, and Killarney National Park. Tom had a high chair and small crib set up for us, and he's just down the road for any questions or help. There's a large yard and a friendly neighbor pony out back. Whelan's Pub in Doon was such a great local spot to visit with very friendly folk, and there's even Chinese take away in town. We loved staying away from the tourist areas, and we got exactly what we were looking for in a small country cottage. There's a great little wooded walk just across the street to bird watch or just enjoy a stroll. The washer and dryer were very handy, and the heating kept us toasty when we needed it.

Cooga Cottage is a perfect, relaxing vacation destination. My sister and I stayed here during the Spring and although we did not have a car we were perfectly happy to relax and enjoy Doon. If you wish to sightsee, you will need a car as the town of Doon has only a couple small grocery stores, some pubs, and a church. Everyone we met in the town was kind, helpful, and welcoming. My sister and I especially enjoyed Anne's grocery store where everyone was polite and friendly and we could buy fresh scones. The cottage itself was a complete joy to stay at as it is:
- equipt with every comfort and convenience possible (and more) including a spacious bathroom, complimentary shampoo and conditioner, multiple hair dryers, excellent quality appliances including a dishwasher, well equipt kitchen, plush furniture and bedrooms, sewing kit, vacuum cleaner, and tea.
- Upon arriving the cottage was clean and Tom was welcoming and had supplied chocolate treats, milk for tea, and a bouquet of daffodils from the gorgeous and meticulously kept yard (for summer visitors, the yard has fruit trees). He also gave us a tour and told us the history of the cottage, which deepened our appreciation for it.
- Tom went out of his way to help in anyway possible, had labeled where things go, and had an in-depth guest book which included grocery store hours, bus schedules, emergency contacts, instructions about the trash, compost, and recycling, etc.
- The price was a great deal and Tom was fair and generous with the cost of utilities.
- The cottage is obviously well-cared for and its beautiful and cozy decorations make it truly feel like a home away from home.
Our time at Cooga Cottage was a complete joy and we highly recommend it to any traveler who values relaxation and comfort.

When I found out that the Irish Tourism Board rated this property with only 3 stars, I was genuinely perplexed. A little research revealed that this is the highest rating that they will attribute to such an accommodation, which sadly, is misleading to those researching whether to stay at Cooga Cottage and here's why: It is fantastic! From the moment you open the gate and walk up to the front door, you experience the extra little touches that the owner has taken to make your stay here flawless. The front garden is decorated with small bushes in the shape of a bear and a duck..the kids will love it! The very large grassy area next to the cottage is manicured and adorned with rose bushes and lawn chairs perfect for relaxing after a day of sight-seeing. There is a long stone driveway leading to a large car park and a convenient entrance into the back of the cottage. The lights are motion-censored and come on automatically making finding your keys a cinch. Inside the cottage, you will find traditional furnishings, a fireplace, and decorative pieces adorning the window sills and walls providing a genuine Irish experience. There is cable, WIFI, and a flat screen TV. Each of the 3 bedrooms are large and spacious with furniture and closets for your personal belongings. The main bedroom is located on the first floor and the other 2 are upstairs….one with a queen bed and the other with two doubles. The kitchen is modern with upgraded appliances and a plethora of cooking tools to assist you in your self-catering needs. The bathroom is immaculate and provides a pretty respectable shower. If you forget something, then no worries! because the owner has thought of it all when it comes to making your stay worry-free. There are amenities already stocked in the bathroom. He even provided converters for my American plug-in devices! I went with a friend to Cooga Cottage, but it is perfect for couples, families with small or teenaged children, or a single looking for a peaceful get-away. The Cottage is centrally-located to the major thorough-ways for longer trips to Dublin or the Cliffs of Moher and only about 30-40 mins by car to Limerick, Bunratty Castle, Adare, and the Rock of Cashel. The town of Doon is within walking distance. The town of Cappamore is a few kilometers down the road and has excellent Irish cuisine. Cooga Cottage is truly an exceptional property - landing 5 stars in my book!

We arrived in the early morning hours, pleasantly surprised with the owner's earlier email, letting us know we had his permission to check in before the usual afternoon hour posted on-line. So,we were impressed already,as this was certainly a kind gesture after our long flight to get there! We were very grateful for this allowance, as it enabled us to rest a bit and freshen up before we set out to explore the area.
The directions to the Cottage were accurate and easy to follow.Even though it was dark outside when we landed at the Shannon airport and we were driving on the opposite side of the long, curving roads, it was only about a half hour's journey to the property's front door. Very convenient.
Tom quickly filled us in on the history of the cottage - when it was purchased - who was born there - while we walked through each of the rooms and admired all of the little touches that welcomed us in for our vacation. It made us feel at home, listening to how happy the cottage was, as well as the family living there. We could almost hear the laughter of children and the music of the concertina being played in the cozy rooms we stood in.
The cottage was SPOTLESS and had ALL the comforts of home. It was warm and welcoming, with three bedrooms to pick from.
Outside, the yard was a gorgeous landscape of well- manicured lawns and arbors, with gardens still full of flowers, already long gone for the season, back home in America. Roses bloomed against well-kept sheds and in the front garden. There were other flowers that I could not name, tucked into fences or running along the ground beside the cottage.
Cooga Cottage was central to everywhere we had planned to go, so it was a perfect place for these two travelers to vacation in. It was an easy walk into the village, where there were pubs, shops, friendly people, a market, gas station and historical graveyard. It was also close to highways that brought us to Limerick, Bunratty Castle, Dublin, and The Village Of Adare, to name a few.
I would recommend the cottage to anyone who wants a taste and feel of home while in another country. It kept us grounded and made us feel happy and content when we got up and had our breakfast with coffee, or home for dinner and a look through the many pictures we had taken while out for the day.
I will definitely make my way back to Ireland and the cottage that was such a big part of my trip to that countryside.

This was our second visit to Cooga Cottage. Our first visit was two years ago with our 18 year old granddaughter. We had such a lovely time and couldn't wait to return. This visit was with two grandsons, ages 17 and 22. Again, a terrific time was had by all of us.
I enjoyed looking out the kitchen window to the beautiful flowers in the garden. The guys tried teaching themselves hurling on the huge lawn. They also kicked a soccer ball around. (Tom was so kind to leave a soccer ball out for them to use. It was the first thing they did after bringing in their suitcases.) It would have been lovely to eat in the garden at the table/chairs provided, but we were always on the go. (Ah, next time.) The cottage is very conveniently located to so many places. I did cook breakfast almost every day in the beautifully equiped kitchen. There is everything a cook would want--including an apron! It was great keeping our laundry done up--no need to pack so much when you know you have a washer & dryer in the cottage. Actually, the entire cottage is equipped with everything needed--hair dryers, maps, shampoo, Q-tips, soaps bath/laundry/dish, coffee, tea, and spices. Tom even left a container of milk and chocolates for us. He is so thoughtful.
I can't say enough good things about this gem of a cottage and its owner, Tom. As I told him when I booked the cottage this year, "I feel like I'm coming home." It's on my bucket list to take our other six grandchildren to Cooga Cottage in the future.
I was saddened to find the Chinese restaurant in the church next door had closed. Although there are wonderful places to eat nearby, that one had been a special favorite of mine.
We met a lovely neighbor and her daughter while we were by the road looking through the folliage for the sliotar (hurling ball). They were so kind as to drop by later with a sliotar for the guys--her son wanted them to have it. The clerk at the store always asked what I had seen/done during the day when I'd stop in for groceries. There are very friendly people in Doon.
We walked on the nature trail near the cottage for the first time during this visit. It will definitely be something I do on every visit.
I keep a picture of Cooga Cottage on my laptop as a screen saver. Just looking at it whisks me back to Ireland and drops my blood pressure.
I highly recommend this cottage!!
