Location is on point, the house is awful. I don’t even know where to start, the mattresses are 50 yrs old, it’s smells like pee, window panes missing, door knobs wouldn’t stay on, shower curtain stuck in wall, screens missing, tvs not plugged in, and unable to turn towards seating or sleeping area, duct tape holding the bathroom trim together, bath rug was sopping wet, outlets didn’t work, dishes were dirty, missing outlet covers, blankets were those of the 60s itchy and scratchy, gutter pours water into the front door, trees touching the house, no where to hang towels, no where to sit, no board games or toys, if there was cable or streaming we couldn’t get it to work, sinks missing parts, the water lines to the tub and toilet were the same line, the kitchen utensils were old and broken, I had to hold the only useable knife together to use it, not a stitch of yard work, over grown bushes and bugs everywhere, ants and palmetto bugs inside. My home was built in 1900, so I get old, this house is not even remotely maintained. When my son walked in he said “I didn’t know scumloards were allowed to own vacation properties” and that about sums up the house. It has the potential to be a nice place, if someone, anyone cared about it, or it’s vacationers. I’ve rent houses up and down the coast from Ocean City MD to South Padre Island TX, from $50 a nite to $500, and I’ve never been worried something was going to crawl on me while I slept, or get bed/lice bugs from a stay.

We were sad looking at the exterior of the house, it’s so old!!! Found out it’s around 200 years old. But the renovations on the interior were excellent! 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and I counted 19 beds for only eight of us! It isn’t fancy, it was a great place to eat, sleep and shower. It’s pet friendly so that mattered to us with our four dogs. My wife the kids and I all loved it! We’re both veterans and used to living in hardship, this wasn’t hard, very comfortable and clean with most of the basics, but don’t expect it to be some fancy hotel, it’s a great place for adventurers who spend every waking moment out and about. Not recommended for folks who want luxury, not that that’s a bad thing. Walking distance to all the cool stuff in Beaufort. Overall a 5 star review because it 100% met our needs based on who we are and what we wanted to do!! Great stay!!

The information given about this property is very misleading. Here are some things you need to know before you stay here: The listing says it sleeps 18 and gives a price per night—however, that price is for up to 6 people. Any more than this are charged extra fees each day—per person! Even though the information says linens are provided, they are not. They supply one small towel in the kitchen, so all bathroom and bedroom linens are brought by you. I called a week before we stayed and was told they had somehow missed sending me the email that would have informed me of this. They said they would send it that day, but it never came. As you walk through the front door, you are hit with a strong odor of stale urine. We brought a can of Febreeze for the couch, but I think the smell is from the bathroom or carpet. There is not a table to eat at or serve meals. I brought a folding one, but the space is so small, it was hard to fit it. The bar sits 5 on stools--if you sit on both sides--which leaves nowhere to serve the food. I don't think the oven has ever been cleaned. There are 2 microwaves, but both are very small. No disposal and a small assortment of mis-matched dishes. The pots and pans are all small, and serving dishes are very few and small. We had to kill cockroaches while there! The third bedroom is never described in the info. It is literally the attic. They have 2 full size beds and a twin up there. You have to go through a bedroom to get to the stairs, which are very steep. The bathroom up there has a shower with painted plywood walls. There is not a curtain on the window. None of the bathroom doors have locks. Much of the threshold at the front door was missing, but there was a nail sticking out over 1/2 inch. They were quick to pull it when we called. The carpets are so threadbare they have had to add throw rugs everywhere. These bunch and wrinkle and we were constantly tripping over them. They don't reach the edges or doorways so be careful of the carpet tacks that are poking through. There are also renters below the house. There are 4 parking spots, but you need to share with them. 2 more can park out on the street. Doesn't VRBO check out the properties they add to their listings? I have stayed in many places with VRBO, but this one is so sub-par I can only hope it has slipped through a cracks and will be booted from the system.

The online photos of this property are way more generous than the real life experience. This house is old, very old. The couch reeked of urine, the carpet was badly stained and "crunchy" from prior spills, and the pillows on every bed were completely covered in sweat & drool stains. We brought our own bedding with us so we did not use the provided pillows. The shower curtain liners in one of the bathrooms were ripped off of the rings and hanging on by just a few spots. This shower was not usable. The other two showers are old and scummy. The hard water is caked on all 3 of the shower heads and sprayed out like a thumb placed over the end of a hose. The water was scalding hot no matter how much or how little of it was turned on. There is a nice porch on the front of the house with a porch swing however the swing has one side broken and was unsafe to use. The biggest disappointment was that this property was not listed as a shared unit. There is a gentleman that lives in the basement of this home. We did not find this out until our 2nd day at the rental when we heard the doors banging downstairs and had a car parked next to ours. I contacted the office and the man who answered the phone at the dive shop (Julian) was actually the tenant from our basement. He suggested we park next door to the property or offered to move his vehicle to the lot when he had his next break. Two more vehicles were parked in the lot the next 2 days and were spread out so we were only able to park 1 vehicle sideways on a concrete pad without blocking theirs in. The only good thing about this property was that although it is desperately in need of some tlc, the cleaning lady (Jess) did have the place very clean for check in.

Property was mostly what was pictured and we had a very good time. Our check-in was 2 hours late due to the late departure of previous guests and reduced cleaning crew. Property was surface level clean but really needs some TLC and serious deep cleaning inside and out. I spoke to the owner about all issues and felt he was receptive to working on what he could based on the age of the property. The house is meant for large groups of people who probably don't intend to stay much in the house nor cook there. The cooking utensils etc. were very sparse and there was limited counter and storage space in the kitchen. The showers we're mostly clean but the shower curtains were torn and very dirty. Two things not mentioned to us in advance were that there was at least one other party/person staying in the basement of the same home and 2 of the 3 bathrooms (in our portion)were only accessed through 2 of the bedrooms. The main outside sitting area was the front porch, but you could only access that through the large bedroom. These were not big issues but it would have been nice to know it in advance. Overall we had a good time even though the house was old and in need of minor maintenance and repairs.

The perfect place for our weekend of fishing Getaway. Everything we needed was there at the house. I recommend and would stay there again.

Perfect place for a large group and the location couldn't have been better. Although meant for dive groups, our baseball team had a wonderful bonding experience. Enough room in the main bedroom (12 bunks) for all our boys to stay together. The other two bedrooms (one with 4 bunks, the other 3 beds) was room enough for the dad's. Full kitchen so they never were with out food or snacks. Plenty to see and do within walking distance. Which was great as our tournament was all but rained out. Very happy we found this place to have team meals and hang out. A quaint little house but they used the space so well. Using the old living room as the main bunk room and fitting in so many beds into the space they have. Everyone enjoyed themselves.
