Endroit atypique et majestueux. La décoration de la chambre avec terrasse est raffinée .Le parc est romantique. Le personnel charmant. Nous avons prolongé notre séjour pour profiter de cet havre de paix.

Superb domain in the heart of the Serra da Sao Mamede

The Quinta do Barrieiro is a special place: the domain on which it is located is large, with its own water sources, a pond, a beautiful pool and of course the sculpture garden. The domain provides great spots to watch the surrounding area (Marvoa, the pico da Soa Mamede) and the night sky: during clear nights without moonlight, you'll see the milky way as you haven't seen it before. The swimming pool area is superb: beautiful views over the area, a lot of chairs, shade from tress and beach umbrella's... Perfect holiday spot. The location is great, with Marvao +/-20 minutes away by car, the top of the Sao Mameda +/-15 minutes, and other nice towns in the same range. The quinta provides ample parking space (but the access to the parking is slightly challenging).

Breakfast is brought to each room/holiday home on the domain. That gives everyone a lot of freedom to eat whenever they want, but you don't encounter the other guests or owners that easily. As a result, you never have an overview of how many guests stay in the domain.

a little countryside sanctuary - great place to stay and chill

The studio Very nice and spacious studio with a great bed, sort of a small living room area, clean bathroom and a little terrace just in front. Good towels also. View from the studio and terrace overlooks the mountains on the other side of the valley and from the terrace you’re perfectly situated to watch either the sun- and/or moonrise (or both if the timing’s right). The property and the people Much larger than anticipated actually - in a good way - with a couple of specially designated areas. A hillside art walk, a pool with awesome views and nice sunbeds, and a little oasis-like part with more sculptures, chairs and hammocks. Annddd a dog and a cat. Very friendly, welcoming and attentive staff also. The area Beautiful scenery and nature, very calm (as in there’s not many people) Portalegre is only 20 min or so by car as is Marvao so there’s plenty to do and explore in the area.

Great base for a visit to this part of Portugal!

Great to be able to leave the flat and walk right into nature!

I already discussed some things I didn’t like with the staff and they will take it into account. Overall we were happy with the stay.

It could be far better!

Susanna was very friendly and welcoming. The room was very nice and spacious. The surroundings are beautiful.

A new shower head is defo needed in room 3! The room was not sound proof, we had 'the luck' to hear our neighbour spitting, washing himself, peeing...and more :-( The breakfast is not that great.

Exceptional

This Studio was spotless and beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchenette was enough to get you going. The staff was friendly, the grounds beautiful. A place to relax, put your feet up and Recharge. Marvão is nearby with sites and restaurants. We will definitely be back.

Unless you're a wiz with a microwave, there's no way to make a meal. However, I understand completely. Too much cooking in that beautiful room, would ruin everything. LOVED Everything.

Exceptional

Super helpful and friendly staff, very clean room. We had a very spacious veranda with a beautiful view of the surroundings. Here we could observe the stars in the night sky and enjoy the local wine. Definitely, we come back again if we have a chance.

The location with the views, walking around the grounds.. Swimming pool had a great outlook and offered plenty of shade. The host was very friendly and had a good knowledge of the area. Efficient aircon

B&B with breathtaking sunset and views!

Very friendly and helpful host. The rooms are clean and the garden is huge and great to walk around. They've got huge rocks on top of the hill in their garden which you can climb and see the sunset which is just breathtaking. Very peaceful and quiet at night. The pool is nice and so is the breakfast. We recommend this B&B!

The pool looks great, but wasn't clean and filled with bugs sadly. Other than that, we really liked our stay!

the best place to stay in portugal with incredible views!!!

This place absolutely blew us away, our favorite place in Portugal by far. The property was extremely clean, the hosts were friendly, there was a small cat and dog in the property as well. The wifi was excellent and the hot water lasted (for a long time!). The beds were extremely comfortable and we loved the space. The breakfast we requested the next morning exceeded our expectations for quality and quantity and diversity of food. The pool also offers a beautiful view.

We had booked only one night but wished we could stay longer in such a beautiful, tranquil spot. The view is amazing and the rooms are very well done. We will stay again if we come back to Portugal.

Did not have your breakfast

All the steps are difficult for people with knee/hip problems. If possible, would be good to plan out some of the differences of levels by doing "zip zag-paths" instead of steps.

Wonderful stay, it was just what we needed.

The location is beautiful, you are surrounded by beautiful sculptures and poems. At night it's dark, you can see the stars and listen to the owls and crickets. The bed was comfortable. Our dog Bailey made a great new friend, the owners dog. He even joined us for a lovely hike away from the property.

Can't think of anything, we definitely plan to come back soon.

Beautiful place but need improvements

The location is quiet and beautiful among nature. Mattress was ok and breakfast.

The windows of the rooms doesn’t have a mosquito fence so every night we had inside our room: mosquitoes, bees, flies.. this is unacceptable for the price we paid for the night.. Also the first room that we were given was smelling paint so we had to change room during the night. Furthermore, the taste of the water when we were washing out teeth was horrible and the hotel doesn’t sell bottled water. In my opinion in an isolated hotel like this you should sell at least some basic products.
