Beautiful hotel with great rooms and service.

We were given an upgrade to a suite which we enjoyed. Great location and the garden/patio area are very nice. Short walk to castle and High Street. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you!

Exceeded our expectations. Full of charm, amazing staff.

The hotel has private parking, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and check in was very smooth. We had three in our room; parents and one teenager. We were very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and served at your table by very professional staff. The room was amazing with a spectacular view of the perfectly groomed garden and Kilkenny Castle. The location made it easy to see all of the main sites within the townsite and is close to many great pubs and restaurants. A river walk is minutes away and there are plenty of quality shops. Highly recommend fish and chips at Matt the Millar's, just down the hill.

Exceptional stay..

I liked the courteousness of the staff. I liked the fact it was so near Kilkenny Castle. The decor was gorgeous.

The toast could have been hot for breakfast.

Absolutely worth the money

I had to reschedule my stay due to a sudden death in my family and the receptionist helped to accommodate that. All of the staff were very polite and helpful throughout my stay and the food was delicious.

The staff were friendly and helpful. It's a lovely old building right in the centre of Kilkenny. The garden is nice to walk or sit in and full of birdsong. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious.

Nothing really. Maybe the inclusion of a small fridge or chiller in the room.

It was the perfect valentines escape.

Loved the lounge and bar area it was so comfortable. Great place to relax by the fire and have a drink. The beds are so comfortable and rooms so picturesque.

Lovely property with an excellent location. Breakfast was delicious. Best of all was the young woman at the front desk. She was so accommodating and personable. She made us feel so welcome!

Just loved it!

Everything was so lovely from the moment we arrived. Gorgeous hotel, very friendly staff and a great breakfast. Kilkenny is such a pretty place and the hotel is located within walking distance to the town. Would definitely stay here again, without hesitation.

Great Location

Great location, friendly staff, delicious breakfast, and a very nice room.

Room was VERY warm with no windows, only option was to open the doors to the garden which is a public area. The fan supplied wasn't of much use, perhaps invest in a portable aircon unit.

Awful experience, and staff ignored our discomfort!

The hotel was a lovely older place, and great access to the main town

I had requested a quiet room and we had the worse room possible. The room assigned to us was in the “dungeon” in the basement under the main dining area and bar. The noise from people talking up above was horrible and very upsetting. I complained in the afternoon about the noice, as well as going upstairs at 11:15 at night to complain! No one offered to change our room! The room was claustrophobic, as the only windows looked up at a terrace with people sitting in tables above the room, so you had to keep the shades drawn. I would not recommend the Orient room, nor will I return to this hotel. It was not a good experience.

Would definitely return. Great location and very comfortable stay.

Great location. A clean, comfortable room, with good amenities. Fantastic receptionist who was friendly and had lots of tips for places to eat and things to see. Lovely gardens too and lots of local craft shops at the end of the garden. Highly recommended.

Excellent hotel. Staff were so friendly and accommodating, and made it feel such a personal stay. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were spotless and so comfortable. Breakfast was absolutely excellent. Location was excellent too. Minutes walk was the centre of everything, including the castle.

If you want a quality stay in Kilkenny then this is the place for you

Location is amazing. Our room looked over the gardens and out to Kilkenny Castle. Freshly cooked morning breakfast is awesome. 1 min walk to high street.

Highly recommend staying in this historic house.

The Butler House is spectacular. We stayed in the “Lady Eleanor” suite and the beautiful bay window looked out over the courtyard with a view of Kilkenny Castle. Breakfast is included and was delicious. Conveniently located to all the shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Free parking is behind the property and easy to find.

The coffee pods make very weak tasting coffee. However the free coffee at breakfast was perfect.

Exceptional

My Family of 9 stayed at The Butler House. Our children (and significant others) are young 20's, so this gorgeous home and fun town were perfect for us. The breakfast was cooked to order and delicious, the rooms were spacious and super clean, the staff was very accommodating. It is perfectly located in the town of Kilkenny. We had a ball touring the town (the detailed map was super helpful). Matt the Miller Pub was the perfect night-out for our fun group.

We loved everything about the Butler House.

Superb

Nice hotel in a great location. Friendly staff, room was spacious, breakfast was excellent, both in terms of quality and selection.

The bathroom could do with some TLC, and one sink for a family room of 4 made getting ready in the morning a bit challenging, but we would definitely stay at the Butler House again.
