location, friendly staff, large pool, sauna, spa
high price (1600 per night) not worth it, darkness in the room (not enough light), outdated facilities, old gym, mini bar extra charge (are you serious?)

My wife & I stayed for 11 nights in a premier villa with a shared 25 metre pool (3 villas had access to the pool). The villa was extremely spacious with a huge bedroom/lounge area. The bathroom was a similar size, with a large walk-in shower that could also be used as a steam room. Our villa (#1052) was one of the ones nearest the coast, so the large patio area had great views across the gardens, the shared pool and the Indian ocean. The Surf bar also overlooked the ocean & had a very relaxed atmosphere for pre-dinner drinks. The main Ocean Terrace restaurant served excellent food with a good variety of local & international cuisine. We had one dinner at Tableau where one of the chefs cooked a 5 course Sri Lankan meal in front of us. This was a fabulous evening & the food was exceptional. As others have commented, all the staff were so friendly & always smiling, & did everything they possibly could to ensure that our stay was as comfortable & relaxed as possible. They succeeded!! A lovely hotel that is highly recommended.

Amazing swimming pool with an outstanding view! The room is very big with a big balcony as well. Food was very good as well. The service was also great.
The breakfast was not a buffet and it took too long to come. Otherwise nothing to say.

Premium villa was perfect. Service exemplary. Fine dining restaurant with personal chef. The views. Spa. Breakfast. Personal butler service. Special cake and wine. Thank you!
Chose premium villa over the basic suites... A world of difference for both much more. Would prefer Bluetooth rather than sonos speaker Some foliage could be cut back for more sea views? Rooms are if anything too big!

The staff and attention to details were exceptional. The hotel is built in a very private way, which we loved. The pools are great and the gym was good. The food was exceptional.

Location, view and facilities are unbeatable, it is literately one of the best hotels in Sri Lanka. Service was very good. Staffs were very welcoming and always supportive. Food is very tasty with lots of variants.
Only thing I wouldn't except is: there are lots of wood ants/insets in wardrobe room, which fly/crawl to everywhere and even on bed. We spent quite some time to deworm at least clean our bed. I left our suit cases inside of wardrobe room, which ended up with full of insets inside! It is very annoying and big disappointment to see this happen in such high standard hotel.

very well maintained biggest hotel we’ve been so far in Sri lanka. beautiful pool and amazingly designed villas with pool with ocean view.
breakfast was amazing.
the beach is not easy accessible from the hotel and it is public, so there are not sun beds or towels.
the dinner menu is very limited.

the property had the most magical views you can’t see sunrise on one side and sunset on the other. The food and service is outstanding and all the personal touches make it unforgettable. There is so much to do in and out of the property.

Everything, quite honestly was perfect. From the moment we were greeted on arrival, it was made very clear to us that nothing would be too much to ask for. The breakfast each morning was delicious, an a la carte style experience where you get the chance to actually sit and relax rather than rush through a buffet style meal. All of the wonderful staff, from the bartenders, gardeners, waiters, cleaners, all greeted us warmly. The facilities are fantastic, we did not have a shared private pool so I'm able to comment on the 2 shared pools which were clean, at a lovely temperature and from the moon shaped infinity pool, the views were amazing. It truly is a high quality 5 star hotel, the general manager was ever present to again greet but make sure everything was okay. This trip was to celebrate our honeymoon but also my birthday and the staff made this very special with a delicious cake in our room! I couldn't recommend highly enough, my husband and I would go back in a heartbeat.

We had a wonderful time in Cape Weligama. The resort is amazing. We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary and enjoyed very much. We liked the fact that it is not crowded and there is no buffet for breakfast and dinner. Only A la Carte. Food was delicious. We will definitely come back.
Drawbacks can be found in any resort but we came to enjoy and saw the big picture.

- the property is beautiful and well maintained. The moon pool is great with a splendid view and nice breeze
- breakfast selection is very good, lots of things to choose from, the design of the restaurant is great with amazing light in the morning
- the rooms are big, but the interior design leans towards instagrammability not comfort
- lunch menu lacks variety and is so so
- dinner menu is generally better than lunch one but not a lot to choose from, wrong spices in western dishes
- housekeeping/ restaurant staff members were generally very friendly and helpful
- the room was ready 1.5 hours later than it was supposed to, we get a general apology for it
- the beach is not for swimming
- no service by the pool. If you want water or coffee, you have to get it yourself. the bar by the pool is closed so you have to go to the restaurant. I asked a bottle of water from a staff member and had never seen neither him nor water again)
- the service in general is not high class at all. You have to make requests several times and double check to insure that you get what you asked for, that is not what you expect for the money you paid. the fundamental problem seems to lie in the communication between guest experience curator and staff members
- not for you if you have mobility issues as the property is very hilly
Overall it is beauty over comfort, you can get much better service in Sri Lanka and everywhere else for that kind of money

Everything in this hotel took our breath away. Waking up at Cape Weligama was like waking into a dream.
The breakfasts and the food in general was so, surprisingly outstanding that I am now a lot fatter since I have left. I blame the chefs.
