Beautiful but sleepless night

The castle is gorgeous, staff is great, food delicious

The room was super hot and stuffy, no air in the room, just a very small fan. Slept with the windows open all night, still couldn’t sleep

I would highly recommend and hope to return in the future.

Beautiful location so peaceful. Staff were very friendly and helpful especially the reception and breakfast staff.

Only negative was that the bar food isn’t served after 5.30 after this time you have to eat in the restaurant which is formal and more expensive. Golf club on site serves food which is lovely but stops serving early too. As the hotel is on an island it’s not as easy just to go to a restaurant outside.

Our stay was amaxing and we were sad it went by so quickly.

We loved that this property was on an island. This made it so much more private! The hotel and grounds were lovely and well kept. The bed was VERY comfortable and the room very clean. We got fresh towels and the room was tidied for us every day. The food was delicious! We definitely recommend trying the 5 course meal in the Muenster room. We were able to see a beautiful sunset while we were exploring the island on our last night there…a perfect ending to our stay!

There really isn’t anything we disliked about the property. It is a 16th century hotel so no air conditioning and no lift, but this is to be expected.

Very nice place if you want a quiet place (or if golf and fancy hotels are your thing)

Very relaxing to have a couple of nights at a lovely castle hotel. Check in was easy with friendly staff. The room was very nice, clean and the bed comfortable. It's a very quiet location and although the weather wasn't great, we walked around the outer edge of the island (takes about 1½ hours at a steady pace and very little traffic noise from the mainland). We ate in the restaurant the first evening and you couldn't fault the food although we did get the slight impression that the meal was slightly biased to quantity rather than quality. Very nice stay overall

Pure Heaven!

We loved our drinks at the bar, golfing, dinner in the Munster room and the breakfast.

Lovely breakfast, loved the room

The bar doesn't serve snacks ( nuts or crisps), after a long journey it would have been nice to have a snack with our drink on arrival.....

We had lunch in the bar and the staff were a bit slow, we ordered two mulled wines and they took 20 minutes to arrive and when they did they were cold so we sent them back to get fresh ones and eventually cancelled the order after another 15 minutes waiting. Also the open sandwiches were very basic for the price charged.

Exceptional

The staff made a special extra effort to celebrate my birthday with a small but pleasant gesture which I appreciated very much .We really enjoyed our evening meal in the castle restaurant. The 6 course meal was the best in fine dining. The french cook excelled himself in the detail of his artistic cuisine . The staff of the castle was very helpful and friendly at all times.The room was warm, cozy and spacious. The bed was also comfortable. We enjoyed our short stay in the beautiful castle in November.

However, we didn't appreciate on arrival to be unable to escape the deafening noise of a clay pigeon shoot , close by, on the Castle grounds as part of a wedding ceremony . Sachèts of decaf coffee would be appreciated in the room.

Booked a deluxe room for my Birthday there was supposed to be a fruit bowl in the room, the Irish independent newspaper each morning, turn down service. we got none of these services. Toilet was very dusty. Tiles were not cleaned for a while as the dust was white. infestation of flies in our room when we returned from a drive on 21st October.

Good

Food was excellent and staff were very attentive. Location is very good with access to the golf course and walks around the island.

Our room in the castle was directly above the reception area and the noise travelled very easily when people were having a nightcap till 3am. Residents should be asked to stay in the bar to isolate the sound from travelling. There's enough room on the island to build a pool and spa. Would be nice to have that as an option. Very expensive for overnight stay.

I traveled with a friend who had a special birthday at Christmas but was unable to celebrate due to Covid restrictions .I mentioned it when booking and after dinner an extra special dessert arrived with a greeting on it ... it was very much appreciated ! Thank you . Dinner and breakfast were absolutely super . The food was excellent and any requests made were attended to immediately. The staff couldn't be more helpful .. thank you all.

Our room was on the third floor and while it was really lovely it had no air conditioning or window that we could open . It did have a fan which we used but it was still very warm . It was my own fault that I didn't bring it to the attention of the staff as the receptionist was very helpful when I mentioned it on checking out.

Wonderful location, beautiful room and bathtub!

Bathtub, grounds, and location. Food and wine was thoroughly enjoyed. Staff were incredibly friendly and attentive.

Fantasist Christmas stay

Really enjoyed our stay here. First time staying in a castle - it was amazing! The grounds are so beautiful, we walked the entire little island. Thank you!

Enjoyed the stay disappointed with the dinner, breakfast lovely.

Breakfast was lovely, staff attentive Christmas tree beautiful in foyer.

We had the hake for dinner it was over cooked and tough, veg were cold and had to be sent back to kitchen twice.
