Escape to the Idaho wilderness with a stay in this secluded cabin with views of mountains and valleys. This recreational oasis sits on the end of a working ranch directly adjacent to BLM land, allowing you to go fishing and wading in the Payette River on summer days. Spend your evenings on the front porch grilling out, or gathered around the outdoor firepit.
A 10-mile drive from the cabin brings you to Tamarack Resort. You're situated at the northern end of Cascade Lake, and while your stay certainly feels remote, you'll be just seven miles from Donnelly and an 18-mile drive from McCall, where you'll find grocery stores and restaurants. Be sure to bring your fishing poles, bikes, ATVs, and any other summer toys as well! This family-friendly cabin sits on hundreds of acres of private land, which are perfect for exploring. The spacious front deck with a gas grill sets the scene for dinner outside, with a picnic table and chairs seating up to 10. There is additional back deck space as well. Roast marshmallows around the outdoor firepit under the pines and stars, or cuddle up around the indoor gas fireplace on chillier nights.
Big Bear Retreat has a rustic feel with all the comforts of home, including a full kitchen with a dishwasher and a washer and dryer. Fill your indoor evenings with games and shows on the two TVs. Book your family's stay in this secluded cabin, and you're one step closer to adventure!

WE WALKED IN AND BAGS OF TRASH WERE LEFT WITH MICE IN THEM IN THE KITCHEN. OUTLETS BLEW OUT WHEN WE PLUGGED SOMETHING IN.

Cozy cabin with great view of valley and mountains. Very comfy beds. Mostly stocked with kitchen basics.

This cabin accomodates 10 people very comfortably. The cabin is unpretenious. It is a simple cabin with adequate space for a large family. We loved the peaceful nights and crisp morning air. The front porch is a great place to just drink a cup of coffee and relax and unwind. I loved that there was no Wi-fi. We had 4 adults and 6 children. The dirt road is well maintained. Their are no neighbors, so the children can be as playful as they want outside. I would reccomend this place. The decor and cleanliness is a 3+ to 4 star.

this was a very nice place to stay, the view was spectacular and had all that we needed. I will say, without going into a lot of detail, that you do feel like your being watched a lot, if laughing and playing games and just letting loose without being destructive or hurting anyone or anything is a bad thing, then this isn't the place to stay. We just wanted to escape the world for a weekend.

In an area that us congested with vacationers, big bear retreat gave us the much needed seclusion we were looking for. House has lots of room. Kids had a blast. Thank you so much.

This was an amazing home with an even better view! You can really make a great trip out of this stay. This is exactly what my family needed. It has a home feel which is amazing. The decor was perfect. The best place in the house is sitting on the deck in a rocking chair and looking at the view!!! So so so amazing and super kid friendly. Thank you for a perfect stay

Fun location. My grandkids loved getting muddy because it rained and building forts. Cows all around us which were fun to watch. Towels and sheets seemed clean. Only issue we had was some of the cleaning. Or lack of. Fan in kitchen was disgusting. Needs new shower heads. Got by with kitchen supplies but really badly needs new can opener. If I came again I would bring my own pan to cook in. But we all agreed we would come back again if things a little cleaner. The space was perfect for all the kidsOh and toilet plugged on 2nd day in and did not no who to call to come fix. Luckily we had 2 toilets.

Privacy!
This place is super private! Perfect if you like off the beaten path and privacy. We loved it. House sleeps 10 for sure but only seats 6 at the dinner table. If you’re eating outside it’s not a big deal. If you go, take mosquito spray as the place is right next to a swamp. This springs cool, damp conditions were prime for mosquitoes. Probably not an issue as temperatures increase throughout the summer. Overall an awesome spot!

A quaint little house in remote and placid picturesque natural setting.
The location was exceptional! Very remote and placid. The natural view with the mountain, meadow, wild animals and the sound of birds made it really special. The ranch caretaker was helpful and friendly too. We liked being surrounded by nature. Having a campfire - remember to bring camping chairs and wood.

Big Bear Retreat
Great home, large enough for 12, very remote. Dirt roads for 1-2 miles then a 100 yd dirt road that has deep potholes.
Cows nearby bellered all night. Bring ear plugs

Beautiful location, a few small issues.
The property is amazing, and the view from from the fire ring was amazing. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we could have wanted. However there is a problem with the well I believe. While the listing does have 2 showers listed, in effect there should not be because there is no water pressure. While I didn’t mind since we spent a lot of time playing swimming. Just more of a FYI. I would definitely stay again, and would recommend the property.

Very Private & Peaceful - Water is an issue
Loved everything about my stay at the cabin except for the water issues.
Very quiet, private and peaceful at this cabin. Loved the location! It's off the beaten track and you've nobody else around you.
The cabin is very comfortable. Nicely furnished and decorates, the beds are comfortable, nice large kitchen that is fully furnished. The deck is large and nice to sit out on with your favorite beverage and watch the world peacefully go by.
The only issue is the water! Tastes horrible due to the iron and other minerals. Bring your own drinking water. Also think it's taking its toll on the plumbing. One of the showers was unusable because you could only get a trickle of water out of it. Looks like the hard water deposits have choked off the flow.
Similar issue with the two toilets that were working - the half bath toilet was out of order. The toilets work but it takes them 15 minutes to refill the tanks - even with the valves fully opened.

Wonderful place - water is a problem
Recently stayed at this cabin for two weeks.
Pros:
Loved the location. It's off the beaten track away from any other cabins, campgrounds etc...Extremely quiet and peaceful! Loved sitting on the deck late afternoon and evenings enjoying something to drink and looking out over the meadow. It takes about 15 minutes to get back to Hwy 55 from the cabin. McCall is 11 miles north and Cascade 16 miles south, so it's nicely located between the two.
The cabin is very nicely decorated and comfortable. It has a nice kitchen that is full furnished with everything you need. Dining area next to the kitchen is roomy and a great place to play games or cards.
The bedrooms are nice and the beds quite comfortable. Slept like a dream there. Plenty of extra bedding if it gets cold. The electric heating in the bedrooms and bathrooms works great as does the propane stove in the living room.
The deck is very nice and spacious and the BBQ worked great.
Cons:
The most glaring downside to the cabin, and unfortunately it's a big downside, is the water / plumbing. The water has a lot of iron and minerals in it and tastes nasty. If you're going to stay here bring plenty of your own drinking water.
Also the hard water has apparently taken it's toll on the cabin's plumbing. The shower in the south bathroom (tub / shower) was unusable as it would only produce a trickle of water. The shower in the north bathroom worked ok.
The toilet in the half bathroom was out of order. The other two toilets worked but after they were flushed it took 15 minutes for the tanks to refill. The valves were open fully but I suspect the hard water deposit build ups are choking off the flow.
The kitchen faucet was also a problem. It's one of those 1 lever faucets you adjust for the temperature and it was nearly impossible to get it adjusted for cool water.
In addition, the Direct TV wasn't working. Not a big deal for me as I wasn't there to watch tv. However, when I first got there I checked it out just to see if it worked and it kept saying it had a 701 Signal Error. Again, I didn't really care about that but prospective future renters might.
In summary, I had a nice stay there and really enjoyed the peace and quiet. However, anyone thinking of renting it needs to really consider the water issues.

Very private
Quiet and secluded. Very charming house
Would have give five stars but for the iron in the water.
