About this house rental
1940's multi-story home situated in Newport on a hillside above the bayfront. 180' views of the bay, bridge and ocean, and walking distance to all of those in 5-10 minutes. Great family home, 2 bedrooms plus great spacious kid loft. The home is well-stocked, relaxing and cozy. Great for storm-watching or sunny days relaxing on the wind protected deck. A great home-base for adventures at the beach, walking, tide-pooling, surfing, crabbing, boating, watching whales or sea lions, kite-flying and sand-castle building to name just a few!
The main floor has kitchen, dining, breakfast nook and living room with Queen sofabed.
There are VIEWS from EVERY ROOM. Please see our photos, they are all taken from the various windows.
Kitchen is well stocked, gas range, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee pot and grinder and all basic needs and small appliances. There is a larger 6-8 person dining table plus a 4-6 person breakfast nook table and leaves for both and dishes to serve 16 easily.
Main floor has a 50in LCD (no cableTV) smart TV with provided chromecast. Visitors are free to stream their phone/tablet to the TV this way. Personal Netflix, Amazon, and other cloud services can be easily viewed on the TV if you bring your own internet device (Amazon Firestick/Roku, etc.). Just add to the provided HDMI cable and join our wireless network.
There is free WiFi throughout the house. No land line but cell charger ports abound.
The house is wired with SONOS speakers for radio and music access that can be managed from your cell phone app and play different music in each room.
On second floor is the Master Bedroom: Queen bed, plus small 1 person or 2 kids sofabed. 36in smart TV LCD with chromecast. Treehouse views!
Second floor Guest Room(aka our "Bridge room" with views of bridge): Queen Bed
There is a large soaking tub and shower on the 2nd floor and a powder room on the main floor.
There is a spacious loft with 6 sleeping mats, stocked with TV/DVD/Xbox One/Computer and kid games. This loft has held 10 teenagers for a birthday sleepover easily (or so I'm told!).
There is a large deck with charcoal grill, dining table and lounge chairs. The deck is glassed in on 3 sides so you can enjoy those sunny days even if it is breezy. There is a small grass unfenced yard, and shrubs and trees filled with birds of all sorts, starlings, gulls swallows, even blue herons. There are binoculars and bird books in the house. You can hear the sea lions from the bay barking in all the seasons except summer when they migrate. We are situated right above the hospital and you just might get to see the Life Flight helicopter landing or taking off!
The house is loaded with games, books, linens, soaps/shampoos, and basic kitchen needs like spices and paper plates or baggies. We have information in the house with local activities, parks, lighthouses, beaches and restaurants. We are 5 minute walk to the bayfront with many restaurants and activities, 5 minutes to downtown, and 8-10 minute walk to the beach, 10 minute walk to Nye Beach area.
Parking for 2 cars in driveway, and two more in front of home.
Washer/Dryer access in basement with prior owner permission only.
We are continually working to improve this home. We fell in love with it despite the work it needed as a 1940's home. Recent siding and new windows, new ductless heat and in wall cadets have been installed. The house includes a finished basement we use as an owner hangout, or for short term rentals.
Our family has enjoyed this home many times and have hosted family holiday dinners easily here. We hope you will find it as cozy and relaxing as we do, and we look forward to hearing from you after your visit!

Well stocked house for a beach stay!
This house was perfect for our small group of 5. Two separate bedrooms for the adults and a wonderful loft kids area. Fun beach toys for the kiddos to use. Kitchen was surprisingly very well stocked with all the tools you may need to create a large meal. Location was quick to get to the bayfront, but we felt the need to drive to the beach as it was across main roads from the house. Great communication with the owners - very quick responses before and during our stay. Overall a great house to stay in for our beach weekend getaway - we will return!

Hilltop home
We have stayed several times at this wonderful home on Abbey St. Perched on top of a hill, it has beautiful views of both Yaquina Bay and the ocean. The home is comfortable and cozy and easy to be in. We love this place and hope to stay here again!!

Comfortable stay
What a relaxing base of operations for a fun and busy weekend! The owners provide so many amenities above and beyond what you’d expect. We had just as much fun hanging out at our home away from home as we did sight seeing in Newport. Thank you so much to our hosts!

Excellent views & location but not for extended stays
Pros: beautiful view, cozy home, excellent location, well appointed kitchen, strong WiFi, nice sound system, plenty of hot water, prompt communication
Cons: very very dirty (appears clean at first, but don’t look in the corners...), carpet is really gross and rippled- mega trip hazard, upstairs (only full bath) needs attention- orange gunk around all the edges showing signs of being super old, shower curtain slimy pink due to too much use, blankets and towels appeared freshly laundered but are in need of replacement (pilled/stained), furniture is old and smelly and the dressers has spiders in them, super steep stairs with slippery carpet- all of us almost fell down multiple times, carpet in loft was so disgusting- you could feel it under your feet (our teen wouldn’t go barefoot), dishes were not very clean...
The kicker to it all was that there wasn’t any laundry available. On site laundry was listed in the ameneties and unfortunately we missed that clause written in the notes about the listing. Real bummer when you’re at the coast for 6 nights! Even hotels have laundry available. I hope they remedy this ASAP. There were 9 bath towels for 5 of us for the week. My mother in law brought some over for us to use and wash back at her house in Eugene. Owner was prompt in replying but was a bit rude in implying that we expected daily linen service when I asked about it. No, of course we don’t expect that but we do expect to be able to have enough clean towels for nearly a week. We’re cool using the same towels for a couple days but for 6 days? Really? No thanks. These folks have low standards of cleanliness... if you’re cool with that or only going for 1-2 nights that’d be fine I’m sure but I’d look elsewhere for longer stays.

Great location and the VIEW!
This house is great! located just above the waterfront in Newport OR. The view is spectacular from almost every window in the house. You can stay in and be very comfortable or take a stroll down the road to the water front and enjoy the Sea Lions, candy shoppes, various restaurants and of course many galleries. A little longer walk and you are at the nearby light house or the North Jetty Beach. Great place, we have now been back 3 times and look forward to the next visit!

Very cute funky house with a nice view!
We stayed in Newport at the Abbey Road house with our 3 year old daughter. The house is located close to the waterfront and aquarium. It has a wonderful view from the deck making it relaxing and protected from the wind.

A peaceful, wonderful place to stay!
We had such a wonderful time in Newportstaying in this house. The house is a great place.. relaxing and inviting! It has everything you could possibly need! The kitchen is fully equipped and lots of counter space.
The views from every window in the house are amazing! We loved wat hung the weather change and were amazed at the rapid changes in sky and sea! The other thing we lived about this house is the location. We could walk everywhere!! We lived walking down to Bay st on Yaquina Bay. .. not only for the exercise but for entertainment and wonderful restaurants.
We also lived walking to the beach and the old lighthouse. Walking to Nye beach along the ocean is a wonderful walk too!!
The owners responded to immediately to a few questions we had. Having stayed in other VRBO homes , we really appreciate owners being responsive to questions or concerns.
I would love to stay here again sometime! We really loved it.

Amazing Hosts, House Needs a Few Finishing Touches
Kim and Paul were extremely accommodating hosts before and during our stay. They immediately responded to all inquiries, addressed any minor issues (like helping us with the lock code), and even supplied us with extra items for our stay over Thanksgiving. We really appreciated all of their effort.
The views from the Abbey St. House were AMAZING! The beds and all amenities were welcoming and comfortable. Our only critique is that there is still some work being finished to this unique home. While a little missing trim, or a loose handle isn't a huge impact it would be the one thing I'd offer for improvement. Everything else is as advertised - a fun loft with entertainment for kids, amazing views, large rooms, a unique architecture... Overall the house is very comfortable and our stay was enjoyable.
Thank you for hosting us!

Amazing views and cozy retreat!
Thank you for sharing your home with us we spent every morning having breakfast over looking the ocean the views were a dream! Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you can imagine and the gas stove is a huge plus for someone who likes to create gourmet meals. Crabbing is a two minute car drive down the road. Download the sonos app you will be glad you did! Our girls trip was a success, three generations enjoying the Newport Beach sights. Kim was extremely helpful with any questions or issues we had. I look forward to returning!

Family Getaway Jewel
Breathtaking views! We took a morning walk from the front door to a delicious restaurant, then through the neighborhoods enjoying the sound of barking sea lions.
The three-level house has very steep stairs, so be aware of your family's ability. In our family, each of us at one time slipped on the carpet and slid down a few steps. This is the only reason we may not come back to this house, although we LOVE it.
The attic game setup was enjoyed by our 12 year old, and on the lower floor it took us a few nights to figure out all the remotes on the TV. Once we did, we signed into our Amazon Prime account and watched movies.
The stove gas excellent gas burners; the oven warmed right up. The fridge you have to push closed firmly.
The big tub was AWESOME.
Amenities were great... towels fluffy, ample kitchen items. We used the laundry in the basement, and everything came out great.
The beds were comfortable.
The house was clean.
The decks were lovely.
Each room had enough comfortable furniture that if we had been rained in, we would have been fine.
Great spot!

Great home with remarkable views
We enjoyed the view from Abbey St. for an entire week and it just left us wanting more. The views of the bridge and the bay are incredible.
The home is pleasant with comfortable furniture and a well stocked kitchen. We found everything we needed, including our favorite spices. The home itself is older but with a certain charm that can definitely be appreciated during vacation. The beds were comfortable (and I have a bad back) and the bedrooms were spacious. Our children loved sleeping in the loft. The stairs going up are somewhat steep but once the kids get up there, it's hard to get them away from the games, videos, beanbag chairs, and other amenities.
Outside, the deck is lovely, especially with the wind break and there is just enough room for the kids to run around in the yard.
I would definitely recommend this home as a place to stay. We are already looking forward to going back.

Wonderful stay!
We travel to Newport every year to visit our family up there during our grandmothers birthday. We had a great stay at this house this year! The house is well stocked for all of our needs. We cooked dinner one night while we were there and the kitchen had everything we needed. We also used the firepit outside to make some smores, which was a fun treat! The views are AMAZING. On one side you get the ocean and sunset, and the other is a great view of the bridge. Everything was a short walk or drive to whatever we needed. Thank you for opening your home to us. We loved our stay!

Such a Beautiful Home!
The Abbey Road house is spectacular. The location is just a walk to the bay front or a little longer walk to the lighthouse, and the view is great!
Our stay at the house encompassed both a storm and good coastal weather. We therefore took advantage of the Sonos music system in this very comfortable home while playing games during the worst weather and getting out to explore the area when the weather was better.
The house has a 3rd floor loft/attic that my kids were thrilled to stay in for their own private gaming pad (there was an available Xbox during our stay), and the beds are all very comfortable. Our party was only 4 people this time, but we could have more than doubled the number and still been comfortable.
We will be trying to stay at this location again!
