we chose that house as our holiday residence in Brazil that would accomodate my family of 3, plus any number of my brazilian wife's family and friends that would care to visit. We loved the house and I think so will you. It is well-located in the Geribá neighbourhood, a 10 minutes walk from the like-named beach and perched on a hillside with a nice view over the hilly landscape. It is agreeably furnished and offers beds for 8 persons. The kitchen is spacious and well-equiped. The living room features are huge table and chairs to accomodate 10. Hammocks around the house and a nice barbecue area provide an extra charm. What will be a terrific boon on hot summer days is the pool area. While still under construction during our stay; the pool itself was already usable but the space around was still awaiting the tiling and pool furniture. We liked the place enough to extend our stay twice. On one weekend we were a crowd 14 and we also rented the small appartment located in the basement that was not part of the advertised package but is available as an extension. A word on the landlord Rulian, whom I can't praise enough: great guy who went out of his way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. He lives 15 km away but always responds instantly to calls or WhatsApp messages. He provided us with homegrown coconuts on a daily basis and on one day availed himself (for a reasonable fee) as a tour guide and took us in his car to show us around the "Região dos Lagos" region. Some practical hints: There are no shopping facilities in the near neighbourhood (look for them on the main road heading for Manguinhos) so it's handy to have a car available at least part of the time. Drivers be forewarned that the lane leading up to the house, as well as the inside driveway leading to the car pool are very steep and the threshold of the gate is kind tricky to negotiate.) If you don't plan to make much use of a hired car (about R$ 170 a day), using taxis and "Vans" can be an economical alternative. It takes a 10 minutes walk to the main road where you can signal a shared taxi "van" any minute that will take you to the town centre or other beaches at the charge of only 3.80 R$. A taxi proper takes you to or from the centre for 25 R$. Rulian will want an up-front payment into his savings account of half the rent to make a reservation. I found "Transferwise" to be an efficient, fast and cheap service via which to make this payment. Hope you enjoy as much as we did!
