Breakfast had a nice view overlooking the coast with good coffee.
We found the manager Nello to be dishonest.
We arrived two days early in Amalfi and discussed with Nello modifying our booking. He said he would open our future two nights up on booking.com and if someone booked them he would refund us the money.
We stayed one night, the next morning we were told our room had been booked and he would refund the money after we wrote a good review. It was peak season and he had sold the room for a lot more than we had initially paid.
Nello only refunded one night and kept the rest of the money. Booking.com knows this information and can see the room was re-sold. So I would not believe anything Nello tells you, and communicate through booking.com.
To-date the money hasn't been returned as Nello promised. In Australian dollars this is a considerable amount of money.
Getting there, you have to walk all the way through town. There is a lift to get up to reception, narrow steep stairs in the building internally to get to the rooms.

A good continental breakfast. I don't eat breakfast but my traveling companion did and she enjoyed it. The hotel had a lift which is perhaps unusual in the Amalfi Coast but was an added bonus!! Staff were amazing, funny, helpful, always on hand. Luca, Nello & Valeria - we miss you!
I was happy with everything. Beds could have been a bit softer. Nice spaces to relax.

Loved the cleanliness and service. Staff were quite helpful. Valeria helped with the driving directions and to the letter which finally got us to the hotel location. Luca promptly remembered my coffee the next day, thanks Luca! The staff made our stay quite nice and comfortable! The location was just 5-7 mins walk from the main market square which was quite convenient too. Thanks to Team Villa Lara for a wonderful stay at Amalfi đź‘Ťđź‘Ťđź‘Ťđź‘Ť
Some hot breakfast options such as toast or scrambled eggs would have been good.

The staff, location and views were wonderful.
The bed was a little too hard for my taste but the room itself was nicely done.

great views from our balcony. perfect location outside of the immediate pedestrian area. There are a full set of stairs from the street and one set from the elevator as well as once inside the property. The hotel staff assisted with bags up the stairs so that was not an issue but if you have trouble climbing stairs this might be an issue.
The staff was amazing and very accommodating.

Amazing service and communication the entire time. Staff was super helpful and friendly and the value for the price was unmatched. Big rooms and clean as well with an amazing view for breakfast.

Our stay at villa Lara exceeded our expectations. So friendly and helpful stuff even thought that we visited them in the end of the season and they must be really tired. However they were always smiling and were willing to help us providing us with all useful information. The rooms were spacious and clean. The location is great. 5 minutes walk from the center.
Worth mentioning that when i left the property I had forgot my glasses and they did everything they could to assist me, thet went to the post office and sent it to me back in Athens. Definetely recommend them. Thank u for everything. Stephanie from Greece.

The hotel is in a lovely spot, away from the crowds, yet close to everything. The owners and staff very lovely. The elevator up through the cliff was wonderful, room a good size and very comfortable, breakfast was great.
Didn’t like that the price on Booking.com dropped by £75 a night (£150 cheaper than we paid for 2 nights) after we had booked and could no longer cancel and rebook to get the cheaper price. Seemed a bit unfair.

Breakfast was very nice. Excellent cappuccino every morning, served by wonderful staff.
Everything was great. The shower was small, but normal size for Italy. I would recommend and I would stay here again.

Villa Lara offers spectacular views from its terrace and has wonderful staff who are attentive, friendly and happy to provide advice. The family room was spacious and clean and the location is convenient, a short walk from the centre of Amalfi. Breakfast on the terrace each morning was a highlight!
The air conditioning unit in our room needed maintenance but still cooled slightly.

Local and cosy hotel on top of a hill with a nice view. Super nice staff.

The view of the hotel was really nice. We could see the Amalfi view from the breakfast lounge and mountain view from our room.
Our room was different than what was shown in the pictures on Booking.com. We were expecting much larger room than we had in terms of sqm2 and amenities. Our room was standard room for 4 people; however there was only one single and one double bed which was enough for 3 people. Staff was friendly but not helpful. We arrived around 8pm; however we still expected a help to carry our luggage (as there were lots of stairs until we arrive the room) but none arrived. I like small breakfasts so it was enough for me but it was not enough for others.

You should not advertise with breakfast- what your provide can not pass as a "very good breakfast" They only served croissants, juice and coffee
Breakfast was not really breakfast

The views are phenomenal! Manager Luigi called us in dinner reservations without us asking at La Taverna Del Duca up the road. Best meal we've had in Italy & priced very reasonably.
It was difficult to find with GPS. We had to ask an officer where it was & then drive through Amalfi. There is no parking & the manager has to call a porter to get the car.

Beautiful privileged hilltop property.Superb service and staff! Within walking distance of the Amalfi center without encountering the crowds. Thank you Nello, Luca, Luigi, Pietro for having us there and your excellent disposition and recommendations

We had an amazing time at Villa Lara, with incredibly friendly staff and lovely views of Amalfi from the balcony. The villa was located away from the busy center of Amalfi but 2-5 min away from the shops, restaurants, and commuting facilities, perfect location. Located 250 steps high, you can walk up to the villa or take the available elevator. The room was spacious with a very nice balcony and was also cleaned every day. The best part about Villa Lara was the lovely staff. Nello, Luca, and Luigi were the best guests, making us feel at home, always up for a chat, and providing great travel recommendations. This was a truly great holiday, we wished we could have stayed longer!

Oh… location, its terrace & lovely view, facilities, decor, breakfast, coffee!, and Luigi who was in the evenings waiting all to come back into de hotel, never minding the hour! Respectful but playful. So sweet. Then Luca always making us comfortable. Its a hotel in which you actually feel as at home or better!!!!! :)
Oh… the elevator is a luxury!!!

It was our pleasure to stay at Villa Lara for a week. The staff was amazing, super friendly and the always tried to make us feel as comfortable as possible. We would definitely come back!
I wished there would have been more choices at breakfast but I guess that had something to do sith Covid 19.
