We stayed on a cold wet day and the room was warm and very comfortable. Looks just like the pictures. Had dinner in the restaurant downstairs, which was delicious and had a great selection of dishes.
Could hear quite a bit of noise from other guests since it is an old building with wooden floors, but once they were in their rooms it was fine.

Perfect as it was

beautifully decorated rooms, comfortable
the traffic noise, especially the noisy boy racers and the rubbish truck that was operating very early in the morning. not much that hotel management can do about that

Liked its location to the Wairarapa. We were over for the balloon festival and actually enjoyed Featherston more than I normally would. Claw foot bath was great to help with sleep. Won't probably be paying for accommodation in the Wairarapa in future as I have bought a house over there.
Nothing really although the price of drinks at the bar is a little prohibitive

Lovely decor, nice atmosphere and food in the restaurant.
The road noise - but that's just how it is being on a main road. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
Lots of dust around and under the bed.

Great job bringing an old hotel back to life with a steampunk style decor, amenities, food and rooms are all great.
Guest check-in is done over the bar, and still using keys. I'd suggest spending a little bit of money and installing electronic locks on all guest doors.

Comfy bed, ambience, great restaurant onsite and close to a really great bakery which is across the road.
Shower over the bath but bathroom in general was nice.

Great theme in rooms wonderful bathroom!..the food is 4.5 star...not silver service but right up there. Best steak (ribeye) in ten years. Venison was beautifully done. Deserts to die for.

The outside didn't inspire much confidence but the internal decor was impressive - someone has done a great job on bedroom and the bar/restaurant with nice nods to history in keeping with the age of the building. The staff we interacted with in the bar / restaurant were friendly and accommodating and the food was pretty good.
Despite the impressive decor and a comfy bed, it was a terrible night's sleep due to the room being (literally) right on a main state highway so noisy trucks rolling past throughout the night and trains going through nearby, compounded by dripping guttering and guests exiting during the night down the wooden stairs and slamming the front door for good measure. Feels overpriced for the current guest experience.

Great breakfast.
No complaints

Great place to stay, nice staff and nice facility. Food in the restaurant was tasty
Restaurant was a bit busy and food took a long time to come, service was a little slow. We waited 1.5 hrs for mains to land.

Food was great, decor was lovely
Restaurant was too cold. There was no consistency between staff. Some were nice, some were snooty, some didn't follow through with service, some were half asleep.

The place was so beautiful and clean and rhe decor was amazing.
