Nestled in the hills overlooking Gloucester Valley, Kia Ora Lookout Retreat is a unique property situated on 30 acres, combining the best of rural lifestyle with modern creature comforts. The Retreat is a captivating getaway for couples, families and friends, less than 10 minutes north of Gloucester.
The retreat is set in a rural landscape that will never be built out – our nearest neighbours are over the hills and far away. The Kia Ora Retreat is a truly secluded getaway.
With its open fire, spacious living areas, modern kitchen and stunning salt water pool, the retreat will capture the heart and spirit of any visitor.
Maori for “be well and healthy”, Kia Ora Lookout Retreat stands at the gateway to the Barrington Tops National Park and offers a relaxing, revitalizing stay for those wishing to escape the hustle and hassle of everyday life.
The Retreat
The Retreat is a purpose built home that can accommodate up to 10 people. Its 5 double bedrooms all have their own individual bathrooms. The main living room was originally used as a restaurant, and is framed by vaulted wooden ceilings and open fire. The commercial grade kitchen adjoins a breakfast room, and is supplied by its very own kitchen garden in the formal courtyard.
The retreat is hooked up to the National Broadband Network, and offers TV, DVD, and Bluetooth stereo. It has board games and a diverse library. Even on rainy days, the Retreat offers something for everyone.
The stunning views of the Gloucester Valley are capped off by in in ground salt water pool.
The property is set on 30 acres of rolling hills, with a dam that is a favourite of local kangaroos and other fauna. The retreat is located next to the rolling hills of the ‘farm’, where horses and other animals frolic. Remember to bring carrots and you may entice the horses for a feed.

This is the second time my family and I have stayed at this property and it doesn’t disappoint. The house has plenty of rooms and space, and the view outside is amazing. We have gone during summer both times and the pool naturally warms up to a very nice temperature. We also enjoyed feeding carrots to, and patting the horses.
It was just the relaxing holiday away from busy Sydney and work that we needed to recharge.
We will be back for sure!

We have now stayed at Kia Ora twice… once in winter and once with glorious spring sunshine…. the property is set up for both and between the open fire, air con and pool has everything we needed. as per our first visit immaculately clean and a very smooth process.

This property is stunning! From the moment you enter, the atmosphere is inviting and the relaxed vibe takes over. As a family of five with a teenager, tween and younger child, the house was more than enough space to please everyone. The kids enjoyed the pool, feeding carrots to the horses and going out for dinner in nearby Gloucester. The views were stunning and it was warm enough to swim and cold enough at night to use the wonderful open fireplace. We even fired up the barbecue on our final night. Comfortable and spacious, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you, we'll be back!

Great Weekend Stay Simon K
We were a group of 4 Couples. We had a great experience from the time we arrived until departure. We enjoyed a clean beautiful house with a great view and surrounding. Each couple had their own privacy when required and also enjoyed having our own ensuite. The Kitchen was fantastic.
Will definitely book again next year.

Lovely Country Retreat
We are a group of eight friends who go away each year to various places. We all so enjoyed our stay at Kia Ora. The accommodation was spacious and very clean. Each of the 5 bedrooms were very comfortable with their own ensuites. The very large kitchen was well stocked with plenty of cooking utensils and crockery and cutlery. We all enjoyed the outdoor areas with wonderful views over the beautiful countryside. A great place to spend with family or friends. Would highly recommend Kia Ora.

A perfect stay to rest and unwind
Kia Ora was a great getaway from Sydney. Lovely views, quiet, spacious, comfortable, clean and everything you could need for a short stay. The pool and new poolside pergola were a hit - we loved having dinner under the pergola as the sun set and the lights of town twinkled in the distance. Clarrie and Bree welcomed daily carrots and the bird life and frogs made for interesting daily encounters! From booking to checkout and all communication in between, all interactions were prompt, informative and pleasant. Thank you for a memorable stay.

Wonderful, unique property
Wonderful property, the views are amazing! Feels so private yet only a 10 minute drive to the shops. We were a family group of up to 7 including 2 teens and stayed 7 nights. There was something for everyone to do.We spent most of our time in the amazing pool and eating outside under the cabana looking at the gorgeous hills.The kids loved feeding the 2 horses every morning. The property was very clean and had everything we needed. There was plenty of space for us all to be together but the bedrooms with ensuites gave everyone time to themselves as well. The aircon worked well-we had some pretty hot days! The gardens, including a fantastic vege patch were beautiful. We had plenty of limes for our afternoon gin and tonics!
We did a number of activities in the area including bush walking and moutain bike riding but in the end we all just wanted to spend most days at the property! Check in was very easy and the host communicated well. One of the best properties we have stayed at. Highly recommend.

Family Stay
This is our 3rd time to stay at Kia Ora and will not. be our last ,Easy booking and check in.The house easily accomodated our family and has everything that is needed for a long stay .All rooms have ensuites and aircon, and pool is a bonus on those hot days.Top notch house and facilities.Also if you are looking at going to a winery try Gloucester River Wines and book ahead with John for a most informative wine tasting experience. Excellent property for a relaxing break
Property is perfectly located with beautiful mountain views and not far from Gloucester. House was clean, comfortable and provided a great balance between private nicely appointed bedrooms, all with ensuites, and a range of open communal spaces. We made use of the pool and BBQ area. Overall, a great place to spend time with friends and relax, and we will return with friends again.

Our whole experience, from arrival to departure was wonderful. The house is lovely, spacious and has beautiful views. The pool was lovely. The cleaner was delightful, the property manager was lovely. Absolutely no complaints, we will definitely return in the future.

Amazing stay!
My partner and I stayed here with a group of our friends. Each room had it's own bathroom which gave each of us our own privacy and space. The view was amazing, peaceful and we got to enjoy the company of some furry friends within the property. The place was also very clean and spacious. We had good communication with the property manager and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! :-)

weekend relaxation
Kia Ora was a perfect quick escape for our family after being so stressed at work for a long time. the house could accommodate all of us with our children and maintain each couple's privacy. the view is stunning specially from the pool. the garden is gorgeous. just could not get enough of the blooming Jacaranda trees. the kids enjoyed a wide variety of toys and board games as much as we enjoyed taking lots of photos with the horses.

We had the best time at Kia Ora Retreat, the property is luxurious and spacious, with everything you need and more. The area is beautiful, very quiet and peaceful but still close to town. We had an excellent four day weekend. Close to the National Parks. Only minutes from town, but you feel like you are out in the country. So relaxing. The house was brilliant, we loved the pool and the views were excellent. Can't wait to come back.

Wonderful propert
We were a group of 5 ladies and Kia Ora was perfect for us. Plenty of space inside and out. The facilities were very good including large kitchen and open fire. Only down side is the pool is not heated

A wonderful experience from the time of booking through to staying. Stephen was incredibly helpful and timely at answering any questions we had. The photos do not do this property justice. Amazing views, an abundance of space and the quality of the facilities was second to none.

Friends weekend away
We are a group of 5 couples in our 50’s & 60’s, we had a fantastic stay at Kia Ora Retreat, the house is amazing, 5 lovely bedrooms with their own en-suite. Lovely big kitchen, plenty of room for a large group.
Everything about the house was great.
The property manager Jane was fantastic, we had a small problem with the hot water which was fixed quickly.
Unfortunately it was too cold to try out the lovely pool, hopefully next time.
If you are wanting to getaway to a beautiful peaceful place this is it, everything is well set out, just perfect, we can’t wait to come back.
